3 And Jesus answered and[a] said to them, “Have you not read this, what David did when he and those who were with him were hungry— 4 how he entered into the house of God and took the bread of the presentation, which it is not permitted to eat (except the priests alone), and[b] ate it[c] and gave it[d] to those with him?” 5 And he said to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

3 Jesus answered them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?(A) 4 He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat.(B) And he also gave some to his companions.” 5 Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man(C) is Lord of the Sabbath.”
