Luke 4:9-14

9 Then the devil[a] led him to Jerusalem and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, 10 for it is written,
‘He will command his angels concerning you,
to protect you,’(A)
11 and
‘On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
12 Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”(B) 13 When the devil had finished every test, he departed from him until an opportune time.(C)

14 Then Jesus, in the power of the Spirit, returned to Galilee, and a report about him spread through all the surrounding region.(D)

9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
11 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[a]”(A)
12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[b]”(B)
13 When the devil had finished all this tempting,(C) he left him(D) until an opportune time.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
14 Jesus returned to Galilee(E) in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.(F)
