²⁰ Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.^(A) The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him.

¹⁷ and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

² At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them.^(A)

⁴⁸ Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.

⁵⁵ In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching,^(A) and you did not arrest me.

¹³ On the Sabbath^(A) we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there.

¹⁴ From Perga they went on to Pisidian Antioch.^(A) On the Sabbath^(B) they entered the synagogue^(C) and sat down. ¹⁵ After the reading from the Law^(D) and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have a word of exhortation for the people, please speak.”

¹⁶ Standing up, Paul motioned with his hand^(E) and said: “Fellow Israelites and you Gentiles who worship God, listen to me!

¹² When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

³ He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.^(A)

²⁶ Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,^{(A) 27} and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— ²⁸ just as the Son of Man^(B) did not come to be served, but to serve,^(C) and to give his life as a ransom^(D) for many.”
