12 Even tax collectors came to be baptized and they said to him, “Teacher, what should we do?”(A) 13 He answered them, “Stop collecting more than what is prescribed.” 14 Soldiers also asked him, “And what is it that we should do?” He told them, “Do not practice extortion, do not falsely accuse anyone, and be satisfied with your wages.”

12 Even tax collectors came to be baptized.(A) “Teacher,” they asked, “what should we do?”
13 “Don’t collect any more than you are required to,”(B) he told them.
14 Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?”
He replied, “Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely(C)—be content with your pay.”
