50 And behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, and he was a good man and a just.

51 (The same had not consented to their counsel and deed.) He was of Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who himself also waited for the Kingdom of God.

52 This man went unto Pilate and begged the body of Jesus.

53 And he took it down and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulcher that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

54 And that day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near.

55 And the women also, who came with Him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulcher and how His body was laid.

56 And they returned and prepared spices and ointments, and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment.

The Burial of Jesus(A)

50 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God.(B) 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54 It was Preparation Day,(C) and the Sabbath was about to begin.

55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee(D) followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes.(E) But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.(F)
