The Lord’s Supper

^14 (A)When the hour came, He reclined at the table, and ^(B)the apostles with Him. ¹⁵ And He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; ¹⁶ for I say to you, I shall not eat it again ^(C)until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” ^17 (D)And when He had taken a cup and ^(E)given thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves; ¹⁸ for ^(F)I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.” ¹⁹ And when He had taken some bread and ^(G)given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, which is being given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” ²⁰ And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is ^(H)poured out for you, is the ^(I)new covenant in My blood.

⁷ On ^(A)the first day of the week, when ^(B)we were gathered together to ^(C)break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his ^[a]message until midnight.

The Lord’s Supper

²³ For ^(A)I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that ^(B)the Lord Jesus, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread; ²⁴ and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” ²⁵ In the same way He also took ^(C)the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the ^(D)new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” ²⁶ For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death ^(E)until He comes.

²⁷ Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy way, shall be ^(F)guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. ²⁸ But a person must ^(G)examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. ²⁹ For the one who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not properly recognize the ^[a]body.
