²⁶ men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, ^(A)for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

⁶⁵ And ^(A)among those nations you shall find no rest, nor shall the sole of your foot have a resting place; ^(B)but there the Lord will give you a ^[a]trembling heart, failing eyes, and ^(C)anguish of soul. ⁶⁶ Your life shall hang in doubt before you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life. ^67 (D)In the morning you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were evening!’ And at evening you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were morning!’ because of the fear which terrifies your heart, and ^(E)because of the sight which your eyes see.

The Day of the Lord

¹⁰ But ^(A)the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which ^(B)the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be ^[a]burned up. ¹¹ Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be ^(C)in holy conduct and godliness, ^12 (D)looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will ^(E)be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will ^(F)melt with fervent heat?
