¹³ This will give you an opportunity to testify.^(A)

The Judgment at Christ’s Coming

⁵ This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God and is intended to make you worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering.^(A)

Paul’s Present Circumstances

¹² I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually resulted in the progress of the gospel,

³ so that no one would be shaken by these persecutions. Indeed, you yourselves know that this is what we are destined for.^{(A) 4} In fact, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we were to suffer persecution; so it turned out, as you know.

²⁸ and in no way frightened by those opposing you. For them, this is evidence of their destruction but of your salvation. And this is God’s doing.^(A)
