27 Then Jesus was approached by some Sadducees—religious leaders who say there is no resurrection from the dead. 28 They posed this question: “Teacher, Moses gave us a law that if a man dies, leaving a wife but no children, his brother should marry the widow and have a child who will carry on the brother’s name.[a] 29 Well, suppose there were seven brothers. The oldest one married and then died without children. 30 So the second brother married the widow, but he also died. 31 Then the third brother married her. This continued with all seven of them, who died without children. 32 Finally, the woman also died. 33 So tell us, whose wife will she be in the resurrection? For all seven were married to her!”
34 Jesus replied, “Marriage is for people here on earth. 35 But in the age to come, those worthy of being raised from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage. 36 And they will never die again. In this respect they will be like angels. They are children of God and children of the resurrection.
37 “But now, as to whether the dead will be raised—even Moses proved this when he wrote about the burning bush. Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, he referred to the Lord[b] as ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’[c] 38 So he is the God of the living, not the dead, for they are all alive to him.”
39 “Well said, Teacher!” remarked some of the teachers of religious law who were standing there. 40 And then no one dared to ask him any more questions.
Whose Son Is the Messiah?
41 Then Jesus presented them with a question. “Why is it,” he asked, “that the Messiah is said to be the son of David? 42 For David himself wrote in the book of Psalms:
‘The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit in the place of honor at my right hand
43 until I humble your enemies,
making them a footstool under your feet.’[d]
44 Since David called the Messiah ‘Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?”
45 Then, with the crowds listening, he turned to his disciples and said, 46 “Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they like to parade around in flowing robes and love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces. And how they love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the head table at banquets. 47 Yet they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property and then pretend to be pious by making long prayers in public. Because of this, they will be severely punished.”

27 May mga Saduseo nga miduol kang Jesus. Kining mga tawhana wala nagatuo nga may pagkabanhaw. 28 Nangutana sila, “Magtutudlo, gisulat ni Moises kanato kini nga balaod nga kon mamatay ang lalaki ug wala silay anak sa iyang asawa, kinahanglan nga ang iyang igsoon ang mangasawa sa nabalo aron makaanak siya alang sa iyang igsoon nga namatay.[a] 29 Karon, may pito ka managsoon nga lalaki. Ang kamagulangan nakapangasawa, ug namatay siya nga walay anak. 30 Busa ang balo gipangasawa sa sunod nga igsoon. Apan namatay usab siya nga wala silay anak. 31 Mao usab ang nahitabo sa ikatulo nga igsoon, hangtod sa ikapito. Nangamatay silang tanan nga walay anak niadto nga babaye. 32 Sa kaulahian namatay usab ang babaye. 33 Karon, kon muabot na ang pagkabanhaw, kang kinsa man siyang asawa, kay silang pito nakapangasawa man kaniya?”
34 Gitubag sila ni Jesus, “Dinhi sa kalibotan magminyoay ang mga tawo. 35 Apan si bisan kinsa nga takos nga banhawon ug dad-on didto sa laing kinabuhi dili na magminyoay. 36 Dili na sila mamatay tungod kay mahisama na sila sa mga anghel; mga anak sila sa Dios, kay gibanhaw man sila. 37 Bahin sa pagkabanhaw sa mga patay, bisan gani ang giingon ni Moises didto sa nagdilaab nga sampinit nagpamatuod niini. Dili ba nga gitawag man niya ang Ginoo nga ‘Dios ni Abraham, Dios ni Isaac, ug Dios ni Jacob’[b]? 38 Kini nagpamatuod nga bisan dugay na silang namatay, buhi pa gihapon sila, tungod kay ang Dios dili Dios sa mga patay, kondili Dios sa mga buhi. Alang kaniya, buhi ang tanan.” 39 Ang uban nga magtutudlo sa Kasugoan miingon, “Magtutudlo, husto ang imong tubag.” 40 Ug wala nay nangahas pa sa pagpangutana kaniya.
Ang Pangutana bahin sa Cristo
(Mat. 22:41-46; Mar. 12:35-37)
41 Unya, nangutana si Jesus sa mga tawo, “Nganong gi-ingon man nila nga ang Cristo[c] kaliwat ni David? 42 Kay si David mismo nagaingon man diha sa Libro sa mga Salmo:
‘Miingon ang Ginoo sa akong agalon nga hari,
Lingkod dinhi dapit sa akong tuo,
43 hangtod mapailalom ko kanimo ang imong mga kaaway.’[d]
44 Kon gitawag siya ni David nga iyang Ginoo, mahimo ba nga kaliwat lang siya ni David?”
Nagpasidaan si Jesus bahin sa mga Magtutudlo sa Kasugoan
(Mat. 23:1-36; Mar. 12:38-40)
45 Samtang naminaw ang mga tawo kang Jesus, miingon siya sa iyang mga tinun-an, 46 “Pagbantay kamo sa mga magtutudlo sa Kasugoan nga gustong magsuroy-suroy nga nagabistig taas. Sa mga dapit nga tigomanan sa mga tawo, gusto nila nga tahoron sila. Sa mga simbahan o sa mga kombira ginapili gayod nila ang mga lingkoranan nga alang sa mga pinasidunggan. 47 Ginailog nila ang mga kabtangan sa mga babaye nga balo, ug ginatabon-tabonan lang nila ang ilang daotang binuhatan pinaagi sa tag-as nga mga pag-ampo. Kini sila makadawat ug mas bug-at nga silot.”
