⁹ And an angel of the Lord ^(A)appeared to them, and ^(B)the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. ¹⁰ And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all ^(C)the people. ¹¹ For ^(D)unto you is born this day in ^(E)the city of David ^(F)a Savior, who is ^(G)Christ ^(H)the Lord. ¹² And ^(I)this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby ^(J)wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” ¹³ And suddenly there was with the angel ^(K)a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

¹⁵ When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

^13 (A)And he was in the wilderness forty days, being ^(B)tempted by ^(C)Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and ^(D)the angels were ministering to him.

⁵² Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For ^(A)all who take the sword will perish by the sword. ^53 (B)Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me ^(C)more than twelve ^(D)legions of angels?

⁴² saying, ^(A)“Father, if you are willing, remove ^(B)this cup from me. ^(C)Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” ⁴³ And there appeared to him ^(D)an angel from heaven, strengthening him.

¹⁰ so that through the church the manifold ^(A)wisdom of God ^(B)might now be made known to ^(C)the rulers and authorities ^(D)in the heavenly places.
