28 he took him up in his arms and (A)blessed God and said,
29 “Lord, now you are letting your servant[a] depart (B)in peace,
(C)according to your word;
30 for (D)my eyes have seen your (E)salvation
31 (F)that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32 (G)a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and (H)for glory to (I)your people Israel.”
33 And (J)his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed (K)for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign (L)that is opposed 35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”
36 And there was (M)a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, 37 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four.[b] She did not depart from the temple, (N)worshiping with (O)fasting and prayer night and day. 38 And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were (P)waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
29 “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,(A)
you may now dismiss[a] your servant in peace.(B)
30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,(C)
31 which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.”(D)
33 The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother:(E) “This child is destined to cause the falling(F) and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, 35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”
36 There was also a prophet,(G) Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four.[b](H) She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.(I) 38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.(J)
