¹⁴ “But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’

⁷ And the Lord told him: “Listen^(A) to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected,^(B) but they have rejected me as their king.^(C)

⁵¹ “You stiff-necked people!^(A) Your hearts^(B) and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit! ⁵² Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute?^(C) They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him^(D)—

¹⁴ You disowned the Holy^(A) and Righteous One^(B) and asked that a murderer be released to you.^{(C) 15} You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead.^(D) We are witnesses^(E) of this.

²³ Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works no one else did,^(A) they would not be guilty of sin.^(B) As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.
