Jesus Attends a Banquet
14 On a day of rest—a holy day, Jesus went to eat at the home of a prominent Pharisee. The guests were watching Jesus very closely.
2 A man whose body was swollen with fluid was there. 3 Jesus reacted by asking the Pharisees and the experts in Moses’ Teachings, “Is it right to heal on the day of rest—a holy day, or not?” 4 But they didn’t say a thing.
So Jesus took hold of the man, healed him, and sent him away. 5 Jesus asked them, “If your son or your ox falls into a well on a day of rest—a holy day, wouldn’t you pull him out immediately?” 6 They couldn’t argue with him about this.
7 Then Jesus noticed how the guests always chose the places of honor. So he used this illustration when he spoke to them: 8 “When someone invites you to a wedding, don’t take the place of honor. Maybe someone more important than you was invited. 9 Then your host would say to you, ‘Give this person your place.’ Embarrassed, you would have to take the place of least honor. 10 So when you’re invited, take the place of least honor. Then, when your host comes, he will tell you, ‘Friend, move to a more honorable place.’ Then all the other guests will see how you are honored. 11 Those who honor themselves will be humbled, but people who humble themselves will be honored.”
12 Then he told the man who had invited him, “When you invite people for lunch or dinner, don’t invite only your friends, family, other relatives, or rich neighbors. Otherwise, they will return the favor. 13 Instead, when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the handicapped, the lame, and the blind. 14 Then you will be blessed because they don’t have any way to pay you back. You will be paid back when those who have God’s approval come back to life.”
15 One of those eating with him heard this. So he said to Jesus, “The person who will be at the banquet in God’s kingdom is blessed.”
16 Jesus said to him, “A man gave a large banquet and invited many people. 17 When it was time for the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who were invited, ‘Come! Everything is ready now.’
18 “Everyone asked to be excused. The first said to him, ‘I bought a field, and I need to see it. Please excuse me.’ 19 Another said, ‘I bought five pairs of oxen, and I’m on my way to see how well they plow. Please excuse me.’ 20 Still another said, ‘I recently got married, and that’s why I can’t come.’
21 “The servant went back to report this to his master. Then the master of the house became angry. He told his servant, ‘Run to every street and alley in the city! Bring back the poor, the handicapped, the blind, and the lame.’
22 “The servant said, ‘Sir, what you’ve ordered has been done. But there is still room for more people.’
23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go to the roads and paths! Urge the people to come to my house. I want it to be full. 24 I can guarantee that none of those invited earlier will taste any food at my banquet.’ ”
The Cost of Being a Disciple
25 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus. He turned to them and said, 26 “If people come to me and are not ready to abandon their fathers, mothers, wives, children, brothers, and sisters, as well as their own lives, they cannot be my disciples. 27 So those who do not carry their crosses and follow me cannot be my disciples.
28 “Suppose you want to build a tower. You would first sit down and figure out what it costs. Then you would see if you have enough money to finish it. 29 Otherwise, if you lay a foundation and can’t finish the building, everyone who watches will make fun of you. 30 They’ll say, ‘This person started to build but couldn’t finish the job.’
31 “Or suppose a king is going to war against another king. He would first sit down and think things through. Can he and his 10,000 soldiers fight against a king with 20,000 soldiers? 32 If he can’t, he’ll send ambassadors to ask for terms of peace while the other king is still far away. 33 In the same way, none of you can be my disciples unless you give up everything.
34 “Salt is good. But if salt loses its taste, how will you restore its flavor? 35 It’s not any good for the ground or for the manure pile. People throw it away.
“Let the person who has ears listen!”

Healing of a Man on the Sabbath
14 One Sabbath, (A)when he went to dine at the house of a ruler of the Pharisees, they were (B)watching him carefully. 2 And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy. 3 And Jesus responded to (C)the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, (D)“Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” 4 But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away. 5 And he said to them, (E)“Which of you, having a son[a] or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?” 6 (F)And they could not reply to these things.
The Parable of the Wedding Feast
7 Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed (G)how they chose the places of honor, saying to them, 8 “When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in a place of honor, lest someone more distinguished than you be invited by him, 9 and he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this person,’ and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place. 10 But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, (H)so that when your host comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you. 11 For (I)everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
The Parable of the Great Banquet
12 He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give (J)a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers[b] or your relatives or rich neighbors, (K)lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. 13 But when you give a feast, (L)invite (M)the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid (N)at (O)the resurrection of the just.”
15 When one of those who reclined at table with him heard these things, he said to him, (P)“Blessed is everyone who will (Q)eat bread in the kingdom of God!” 16 But he said to him, (R)“A man once (S)gave a great banquet and invited many. 17 And at the time for the banquet he (T)sent his servant[c] to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ 18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. Please have me excused.’ 20 And another said, (U)‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ 21 So the servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in (V)the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ 22 And the servant said, ‘Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’ 23 And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I tell you,[d] (W)none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.’”
The Cost of Discipleship
25 Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, 26 (X)“If anyone comes to me and (Y)does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, (Z)yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 (AA)Whoever does not (AB)bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not (AC)first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31 Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not (AD)sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. 33 (AE)So therefore, any one of you who (AF)does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
Salt Without Taste Is Worthless
34 (AG)“Salt is good, (AH)but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? 35 It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. (AI)He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Jesús sana a un hidrópico
14 Aconteció un día de reposo,[a] que habiendo entrado para comer en casa de un gobernante, que era fariseo, estos le acechaban. 2 Y he aquí estaba delante de él un hombre hidrópico. 3 Entonces Jesús habló a los intérpretes de la ley y a los fariseos, diciendo: ¿Es lícito sanar en el día de reposo?[b] 4 Mas ellos callaron. Y él, tomándole, le sanó, y le despidió. 5 Y dirigiéndose a ellos, dijo: ¿Quién de vosotros, si su asno o su buey cae en algún pozo, no lo sacará inmediatamente, aunque sea en día de reposo?[c],(A) 6 Y no le podían replicar a estas cosas.
Los convidados a las bodas
7 Observando cómo escogían los primeros asientos a la mesa, refirió a los convidados una parábola, diciéndoles: 8 Cuando fueres convidado por alguno a bodas, no te sientes en el primer lugar, no sea que otro más distinguido que tú esté convidado por él, 9 y viniendo el que te convidó a ti y a él, te diga: Da lugar a este; y entonces comiences con vergüenza a ocupar el último lugar. 10 Mas cuando fueres convidado, ve y siéntate en el último lugar, para que cuando venga el que te convidó, te diga: Amigo, sube más arriba; entonces tendrás gloria delante de los que se sientan contigo a la mesa.(B) 11 Porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla, será enaltecido.(C)
12 Dijo también al que le había convidado: Cuando hagas comida o cena, no llames a tus amigos, ni a tus hermanos, ni a tus parientes, ni a vecinos ricos; no sea que ellos a su vez te vuelvan a convidar, y seas recompensado. 13 Mas cuando hagas banquete, llama a los pobres, los mancos, los cojos y los ciegos; 14 y serás bienaventurado; porque ellos no te pueden recompensar, pero te será recompensado en la resurrección de los justos.
Parábola de la gran cena
15 Oyendo esto uno de los que estaban sentados con él a la mesa, le dijo: Bienaventurado el que coma pan en el reino de Dios. 16 Entonces Jesús le dijo: Un hombre hizo una gran cena, y convidó a muchos. 17 Y a la hora de la cena envió a su siervo a decir a los convidados: Venid, que ya todo está preparado. 18 Y todos a una comenzaron a excusarse. El primero dijo: He comprado una hacienda, y necesito ir a verla; te ruego que me excuses. 19 Otro dijo: He comprado cinco yuntas de bueyes, y voy a probarlos; te ruego que me excuses. 20 Y otro dijo: Acabo de casarme, y por tanto no puedo ir. 21 Vuelto el siervo, hizo saber estas cosas a su señor. Entonces enojado el padre de familia, dijo a su siervo: Ve pronto por las plazas y las calles de la ciudad, y trae acá a los pobres, los mancos, los cojos y los ciegos. 22 Y dijo el siervo: Señor, se ha hecho como mandaste, y aún hay lugar. 23 Dijo el señor al siervo: Ve por los caminos y por los vallados, y fuérzalos a entrar, para que se llene mi casa. 24 Porque os digo que ninguno de aquellos hombres que fueron convidados, gustará mi cena.
Lo que cuesta seguir a Cristo
25 Grandes multitudes iban con él; y volviéndose, les dijo: 26 Si alguno viene a mí, y no aborrece a su padre, y madre, y mujer, e hijos, y hermanos, y hermanas, y aun también su propia vida, no puede ser mi discípulo.(D) 27 Y el que no lleva su cruz y viene en pos de mí, no puede ser mi discípulo.(E) 28 Porque ¿quién de vosotros, queriendo edificar una torre, no se sienta primero y calcula los gastos, a ver si tiene lo que necesita para acabarla? 29 No sea que después que haya puesto el cimiento, y no pueda acabarla, todos los que lo vean comiencen a hacer burla de él, 30 diciendo: Este hombre comenzó a edificar, y no pudo acabar. 31 ¿O qué rey, al marchar a la guerra contra otro rey, no se sienta primero y considera si puede hacer frente con diez mil al que viene contra él con veinte mil? 32 Y si no puede, cuando el otro está todavía lejos, le envía una embajada y le pide condiciones de paz. 33 Así, pues, cualquiera de vosotros que no renuncia a todo lo que posee, no puede ser mi discípulo.
Cuando la sal pierde su sabor

34 Buena es la sal; mas si la sal se hiciere insípida, ¿con qué se sazonará? 35 Ni para la tierra ni para el muladar es útil; la arrojan fuera. El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga.

2 И вот, предстал пред Него человек, страждущий водяною болезнью.
3 По сему случаю Иисус спросил законников и фарисеев: позволительно ли врачевать в субботу?
4 Они молчали. И, прикоснувшись, исцелил его и отпустил.
5 При сем сказал им: если у кого из вас осёл или вол упадет в колодезь, не тотчас ли вытащит его и в субботу?
6 И не могли отвечать Ему на это.
7 Замечая же, как званые выбирали первые места, сказал им притчу:
8 когда ты будешь позван кем на брак, не садись на первое место, чтобы не случился кто из званых им почетнее тебя,
9 и звавший тебя и его, подойдя, не сказал бы тебе: уступи ему место; и тогда со стыдом должен будешь занять последнее место.
10 Но когда зван будешь, придя, садись на последнее место, чтобы звавший тебя, подойдя, сказал: друг! пересядь выше; тогда будет тебе честь пред сидящими с тобою,
11 ибо всякий возвышающий сам себя унижен будет, а унижающий себя возвысится.
12 Сказал же и позвавшему Его: когда делаешь обед или ужин, не зови друзей твоих, ни братьев твоих, ни родственников твоих, ни соседей богатых, чтобы и они тебя когда не позвали, и не получил ты воздаяния.
13 Но, когда делаешь пир, зови нищих, увечных, хромых, слепых,
14 и блажен будешь, что они не могут воздать тебе, ибо воздастся тебе в воскресение праведных.
15 Услышав это, некто из возлежащих с Ним сказал Ему: блажен, кто вкусит хлеба в Царствии Божием!
16 Он же сказал ему: один человек сделал большой ужин и звал многих,
17 и когда наступило время ужина, послал раба своего сказать званым: идите, ибо уже всё готово.
18 И начали все, как бы сговорившись, извиняться. Первый сказал ему: я купил землю и мне нужно пойти посмотреть ее; прошу тебя, извини меня.
19 Другой сказал: я купил пять пар волов и иду испытать их; прошу тебя, извини меня.
20 Третий сказал: я женился и потому не могу придти.
21 И, возвратившись, раб тот донес о сем господину своему. Тогда, разгневавшись, хозяин дома сказал рабу своему: пойди скорее по улицам и переулкам города и приведи сюда нищих, увечных, хромых и слепых.
22 И сказал раб: господин! исполнено, как приказал ты, и еще есть место.
23 Господин сказал рабу: пойди по дорогам и изгородям и убеди придти, чтобы наполнился дом мой.
24 Ибо сказываю вам, что никто из тех званых не вкусит моего ужина, ибо много званых, но мало избранных.
25 С Ним шло множество народа; и Он, обратившись, сказал им:
26 если кто приходит ко Мне и не возненавидит отца своего и матери, и жены и детей, и братьев и сестер, а притом и самой жизни своей, тот не может быть Моим учеником;
27 и кто не несет креста своего и идёт за Мною, не может быть Моим учеником.
28 Ибо кто из вас, желая построить башню, не сядет прежде и не вычислит издержек, имеет ли он, что нужно для совершения ее,
29 дабы, когда положит основание и не возможет совершить, все видящие не стали смеяться над ним,
30 говоря: этот человек начал строить и не мог окончить?
31 Или какой царь, идя на войну против другого царя, не сядет и не посоветуется прежде, силен ли он с десятью тысячами противостать идущему на него с двадцатью тысячами?
32 Иначе, пока тот еще далеко, он пошлет к нему посольство просить о мире.
33 Так всякий из вас, кто не отрешится от всего, что имеет, не может быть Моим учеником.
34 Соль--добрая вещь; но если соль потеряет силу, чем исправить ее?
35 ни в землю, ни в навоз не годится; вон выбрасывают ее. Кто имеет уши слышать, да слышит!
