47 (A)Woe to you! For you build the [a]tombs of the prophets, and it was your fathers who killed them. 48 So you are witnesses and you approve of the deeds of your fathers; because it was they who killed them, and you build their [b]tombs. 49 For this reason also, (B)the wisdom of God said, ‘(C)I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill, and some they will [c]persecute, 50 so that the blood of all the prophets, shed (D)since the foundation of the world, may be charged [d]against this generation, 51 from (E)the blood of Abel to (F)the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you, it shall be charged [e]against this generation.’

47 Woe to you! For you repair or build [a]tombs for the prophets, and it was your fathers who killed them. 48 So you are witnesses and approve the deeds of your fathers, because they [actually] killed them, and you repair or build their tombs. 49 For this reason also the wisdom of God said [in the Scriptures], ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will put to death and some they will persecute, 50 so that charges may be brought against this generation [holding them responsible] for the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah [the priest], who was murdered between the altar and the house of God. Yes, I tell you, charges will be brought against this generation.’(A)

47 “Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your ancestors who killed them. 48 So you testify that you approve of what your ancestors did; they killed the prophets, and you build their tombs.(A) 49 Because of this, God in his wisdom(B) said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’(C) 50 Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, 51 from the blood of Abel(D) to the blood of Zechariah,(E) who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all.(F)

48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:
50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.
