Jesus uppstår från de döda
24 Mycket tidigt på söndagsmorgonen tog kvinnorna kryddorna med sig och gick till graven.
2 Där fann de att den stora sten som hade täckt öppningen hade rullats åt sidan.
3 Då gick de in i graven, men Herrens Jesu kropp var borta.
4 De stod där förvirrade och visste inte vad de skulle tro. Plötsligt visade sig två män för dem, klädda i skinande vita kläder.
5 Kvinnorna blev förskräckta och bugade sig djupt.Då frågade männen: Varför letar ni i en grav efter en som lever?
6-7 Han är inte här. Han har återvänt till livet igen! Kommer ni inte ihåg vad han sa till er i Galileen? Att Människosonen måste bli förrådd och överlämnad i onda människors händer, och att de skulle korsfästa honom, men att han skulle uppstå igen på den tredje dagen?
8 Då kom de ihåg det,
9 och de skyndade sig tillbaka till Jerusalem för att tala om för lärjungarna och alla andra vad som hänt.
10 Kvinnorna som gick till graven var Maria från Magdala, och Johanna och Maria, Jakobs mor, och flera andra.
11 Men det de berättade lät som en saga för männen, och de trodde inte på det.
12 Men Petrus sprang till graven för att se efter. Han böjde sig ned och tittade in men det enda han såg var de tomma linneförbanden. Då gick han tillbaka hem, förundrad över vad som hade hänt.
Jesus visar sig för två män på vandring
13 Samma dag var två av Jesu lärjungar på väg till byn Emmaus, som ligger elva kilometer från Jerusalem.
14 Medan de gick och samtalade med varandra om vad som hade hänt de senaste dagarna,
15 kom plötsligt Jesus själv och gick bredvid dem.
16 Men fast de såg honom var det något som hindrade dem från att känna igen honom.
17 Vad är det ni diskuterar med varandra, sa han. Och varför är ni så bekymrade? De stannade plötsligt, och sorgen stod skriven i deras ansikten.
18 Den ene av dem, som hette Kleopas, svarade: Du måste vara den ende i hela Jerusalem som inte har hört vad som hänt de senaste dagarna.
19 Vad är det som har hänt? undrade han.Det som hände med Jesus, mannen från Nasaret, sa de. Han var en profet, som gjorde stora under och var en enastående lärare, högt aktad av både Gud och människor.
20 Men översteprästerna och våra religiösa ledare arresterade honom och överlämnade honom till romarna så att de kunde döma honom till döden, och nu har de korsfäst honom.
21 Vi hoppades att han var Messias, han som skulle komma för att befria Israel.Och till råga på allt detta som hände för tre dagar sedan,
22-23 gick några kvinnor tidigt i morse till graven, och de kom tillbaka och berättade att hans kropp inte längre fanns där. De hade sett änglar, som sa till dem att Jesus lever!
24 Några av oss rusade dit för att se efter, och faktum är att Jesu kropp var borta, precis som kvinnorna hade sagt. Men Jesus såg de inte.
25 Då sa Jesus till dem: Vad lite ni fattar! Och vad svårt ni har för att tro allt det som profeterna har sagt i Skriften.
26 Har inte profeterna klart förutsagt att Messias måste genomlida allt detta innan han går in i sin härlighet?
27 Sedan citerade Jesus stycke efter stycke från Skrifterna för dem, från Första Moseboken till och med Profeterna, och han förklarade vad de olika avsnitten sa om honom själv.
28 När de närmade sig Emmaus och slutet på vandringen såg de att han tänkte gå vidare.
29 Då bad de honom stanna kvar över natten tillsammans med dem, eftersom det började bli mörkt. Därför följde han med och stannade hos dem.
30 När de sedan satte sig ner för att äta bad han Gud välsigna brödet och tog sedan ett stycke och bröt det och räckte till dem.
31 Och plötsligt var det som om deras ögon öppnats och de kände igen honom, men i samma ögonblick försvann han.
32 Då sa de till varandra: Kände vi det inte som en eld i våra hjärtan när han talade med oss under vandringen och förklarade Skriften för oss.
33-34 Och utan att förlora någon tid skyndade de sig tillbaka till Jerusalem. Där var de elva lärjungarna och de andra som följde Jesus samlade, och de tog emot dem med orden: Herren har verkligen uppstått! Han har visat sig för Petrus!
35 Då berättade de två männen om hur Jesus hade visat sig för dem när de gick på vägen till Emmaus, och hur de känt igen honom då han bröt brödet.
Jesus visar sig för lärjungarna bakom stängda dörrar
36 Och medan de berättade om det stod plötsligt Jesus där mitt ibland dem och sa: Min frid är med er.
37 Men allesammans blev fruktansvärt rädda, eftersom de trodde att det var ett spöke.
38 Varför är ni rädda? frågade Jesus. Varför tvivlar ni på att det verkligen är jag?
39 Se på mina händer och se på mina fötter! Ni kan själva se att det är jag. Känn på mig! Om jag var ett spöke så skulle jag ju inte ha någon kropp.
40 Medan han talade visade han dem sina händer och fötter så att de kunde se märkena efter spikarna.
41 Fortfarande stod de där tveksamma, fyllda av både glädje och tvivel.Då frågade han dem: Har ni något att äta?
42 De gav honom en bit stekt fisk,
43 och han åt den medan de såg på.
Jesus visar sig för lärjungarna i Jerusalem
44 Sedan sa han till lärjungarna: Kommer ni inte ihåg att när jag var med er förut, berättade jag för er att allt som var skrivet om mig av Mose och av profeterna och i psalmerna måste gå i uppfyllelse?
45 Sedan öppnade han deras sinnen så att de äntligen förstod alla dessa skriftställen.
46 Och han sa: Ja, ni kan se att det är förutsagt sedan länge att Messias måste lida och dö och uppstå igen från de döda på den tredje dagen.
47 Alla folk ska få höra att det finns förlåtelse från synden för var och en som omvänder sig. Förkunna det först i Jerusalem.
48 Ni har varit vittnen till detta, och ni ska föra det vidare till andra.
49 Och jag ska sända den helige Ande till er, precis som min Far lovade. Börja inte berätta för andra om detta ännu, utan stanna här i Jerusalem tills den helige Ande kommer och fyller er med kraft från himlen.
Jesus far upp till himlen
50 Sedan tog Jesus dem med sig ut på vägen till Betania. Där tog han avsked av dem och sträckte upp sina händer mot himlen och välsignade dem.
51 Och medan Gud tog honom till sig upp i himlen
52 föll lärjungarna ner och hyllade honom. Sedan återvände de till Jerusalem fyllda av glädje,
53 och de var ständigt i templet och lovprisade Gud.

24 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
8 And they remembered his words,
9 And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
10 It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.
13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:
20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;
23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,
34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.
36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
43 And he took it, and did eat before them.
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

The Resurrection

On the Road to Emmaus
13 That very day (S)two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles[a] from Jerusalem, 14 and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15 While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 (T)But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17 And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18 Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19 And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was (U)a prophet (V)mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20 and (W)how our chief priests and (X)rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we had hoped that he was (Y)the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now (Z)the third day since these things happened. 22 Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. Jesus Appears to His Disciples
36 As they were talking about these things, (AW)Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” 37 But they were (AX)startled and (AY)frightened and (AZ)thought they saw a spirit. 38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. (BA)Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40 And when he had said this, (BB)he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still disbelieved (BC)for joy and were marveling, (BD)he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish,[b] 43 and he took it and ate before them.
44 Then he said to them, (BE)“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, (BF)that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then (BG)he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus (BH)it is written, (BI)that the Christ should suffer and on the third day (BJ)rise from the dead, 47 and that (BK)repentance for[c] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed (BL)in his name (BM)to all nations, (BN)beginning from Jerusalem. 48 (BO)You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending (BP)the promise of my Father upon you. The Ascension
50 And (BT)he led them out as far as (BU)Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. 51 While he blessed them, (BV)he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they (BW)worshiped him and (BX)returned to Jerusalem (BY)with great joy, 53 and (BZ)were continually in the temple (CA)blessing God.
