Jesus förhörs av Pilatus
(Matt 27:11-14; Mark 15:1-5; Joh 18:28-37)
23 Alla de församlade gick sedan iväg och förde Jesus till Pilatus.[a] 2 Där anklagade de honom och sa: ”Den här mannen leder vårt folk vilse. Han påstår att vi inte ska betala skatt till kejsaren och ger sig ut för att vara Messias, en kung.”
3 Då frågade Pilatus honom: ”Är du judarnas kung?” Men Jesus svarade: ”Det är du själv som säger det.”
4 Pilatus sa då till översteprästerna och folkmassan: ”Jag kan inte finna den här mannen skyldig till något brott.”
5 Men de envisades och sa: ”Han hetsar upp folket med sin undervisning överallt i hela Judeen, från Galileen och ända hit.”
Jesus inför Herodes
6 När Pilatus hörde detta, frågade han: ”Är mannen från Galileen?” 7 Och när han fick reda på att Jesus kom från Herodes område, skickade han honom till Herodes, som just då befann sig i Jerusalem.
8 Herodes blev mycket glad över att få träffa Jesus, för det hade han önskat länge, eftersom han hade hört mycket om honom och hoppades få se honom göra något tecken. 9 Han ställde därför fråga på fråga till Jesus, men Jesus svarade honom inte. 10 Under tiden stod översteprästerna och de skriftlärda där och fortsatte med sina våldsamma anklagelser. 11 Till slut började Herodes och hans soldater att håna och förlöjliga Jesus. Sedan satte de på honom en praktfull mantel och skickade honom tillbaka till Pilatus. 12 Från den dagen blev Herodes och Pilatus vänner med varandra. De hade tidigare varit fiender.
Pilatus dömer Jesus till döden
(Matt 27:15-26; Mark 15:6-15; Joh 18:39—19:16)
13 Sedan kallade Pilatus samman översteprästerna, medlemmarna i rådet och folket, 14 och sa till dem: ”Ni har fört den här mannen till mig och anklagat honom för att hetsa upp folket. Jag har förhört honom i er närvaro, och finner honom inte skyldig till era anklagelser. 15 Herodes har kommit till samma slutsats och har därför sänt honom tillbaka hit. Ingenting som den här mannen har gjort förtjänar döden. 16 Därför tänker jag bara straffa honom och sedan släppa honom fri.”[b]
18 Då började hela folkhopen skrika: ”Döda honom, och släpp Barabbas fri istället!” 19 (Barabbas satt fängslad för ett upplopp i staden och mord.) 20 Än en gång försökte Pilatus att diskutera med dem, för han ville gärna släppa Jesus fri. 21 Men de ropade utan uppehåll: ”Korsfäst honom, korsfäst honom!”
22 För tredje gången frågade Pilatus: ”Vad har han gjort för ont? Jag har inte funnit honom skyldig till något som förtjänar döden. Jag kommer bara att straffa honom och sedan låta honom gå.”
23 Men folket skrek utan uppehåll att Jesus skulle korsfästas, och till slut gav deras rop effekt. 24 Pilatus bestämde sig för att göra som de krävde. 25 Han frigav mannen som satt i fängelse för upplopp och mord. Men Jesus överlämnade han åt dem så att de fick göra som de ville.
Jesus korsfästs
(Matt 27:32-44; Mark 15:21-32; Joh 19:17-24)
26 När de förde bort honom grep de tag i en man från Kyrene[c] som hette Simon. Han var på väg in från landsbygden, och de lade korset på honom och lät honom bära det efter Jesus.
27 En stor folkmassa följde med Jesus, bland annat många sörjande och gråtande kvinnor. 28 Men Jesus vände sig till dem och sa: ”Jerusalems döttrar! Gråt inte över mig, utan gråt över er själva och era barn. 29 Det kommer en tid, då man ska säga: Lyckliga är de ofruktsamma, de kvinnor som aldrig har fött barn eller ammat. 30 Då
ska man säga till bergen: Dölj oss!
och till höjderna: Fall över oss![d]
31 För om de gör så här mot det gröna trädet, vad kommer då inte att hända med det torra?”
32 Två brottslingar fördes också ut för att avrättas tillsammans med Jesus. 33 Och när man kom till den plats som kallas Skallen korsfäste de honom tillsammans med brottslingarna, en på var sida om honom. 34 Jesus bad: ”Fader, förlåt dem, för de vet inte vad de gör.” De kastade sedan lott om hans kläder och delade dem mellan sig.[e]
35 Folkhopen stod och tittade på, och medlemmarna i rådet hånade honom: ”Han var bra på att rädda andra”, sa de. ”Nu får han rädda sig själv, om han är Guds Messias, den utvalde.”
36 Även soldaterna hånade honom. De räckte honom surt vin 37 och sa: ”Om du är judarnas kung, så rädda dig själv!” 38 Man hade nämligen satt upp en skylt ovanför Jesus, där det stod: Detta är judarnas kung.
39 En av de brottslingar som hängde där hånade honom också och sa: ”Är det inte du som är Messias? Rädda då dig själv och oss!”
40 Men den andra brottslingen tillrättavisade honom och sa: ”Fruktar du inte ens Gud, du som fått samma dom? 41 Vi får det vi förtjänar, vi har dömts för våra brott, men den här mannen har inte gjort något ont.” 42 Sedan sa han: ”Jesus, kom ihåg mig den dag du kommer med ditt rike.”
43 Jesus svarade: ”Sannerligen säger jag dig att du idag ska vara med mig i paradiset.”[f]
Jesus dör på korset
(Matt 27:45-56; Mark 15:33-41; Joh 19:28-30)
44 Klockan var nu runt tolv på dagen. Då blev det mörkt över hela jorden ända fram till klockan tre, 45 för solen förmörkades helt. Och förhänget [g] i templet brast i två delar. 46 Samtidigt ropade Jesus med hög röst: ”Fader, i dina händer överlämnar jag min ande”[h], och med de orden slutade han att andas.
47 Den romerska officeren, som såg vad som hände, prisade då Gud och sa: ”Han måste verkligen ha varit en rättfärdig man.” 48 När folket, som hade samlats för att se på, såg vad som hände, slog de sig mot bröstet och gick hem. 49 Men alla hans vänner, däribland kvinnorna som hade följt med honom från Galileen, stod på avstånd och såg alltihop.
Jesus begravs
(Matt 27:57-61; Mark 15:42-47; Joh 19:38-42)
50 Nu fanns det en man som hette Josef och var medlem i rådet, en god och rättfärdig man, 51 som inte var delaktig i de andras beslut och handlingar. Han var från staden Arimataia i Judeen och väntade på Guds rike. 52 Josef gick till Pilatus och bad att få Jesus kropp. 53 Han tog sedan ner kroppen och lindade den i linnetyg och lade den i en grav som var uthuggen i en klippa och där ännu ingen hade blivit lagd. 54 Detta var på förberedelsedagen, just innan sabbaten skulle börja.
55 Kvinnorna som hade följt med Jesus från Galileen gick efter och såg hur hans kropp lades i graven. 56 Sedan gick de hem och gjorde i ordning välluktande oljor. Men på sabbaten höll de sig stilla, i enlighet med budordet.

Jesús ante Pilato
23 Toda la asamblea de ellos se levantó, y llevaron a Jesús ante Pilato(A). 2 (B)Y comenzaron a acusar a Jesús, diciendo: «Hemos hallado que este pervierte a nuestra nación(C), prohibiendo pagar[a] impuesto a César(D), y diciendo que Él mismo es Cristo[b], un Rey».
3 Pilato preguntó a Jesús: «¿Eres Tú el Rey de los judíos?». «Tú lo dices(E)», le respondió Jesús. 4 Entonces Pilato dijo a los principales sacerdotes y a la multitud: «No encuentro delito en este hombre(F)». 5 Pero ellos insistían, diciendo: «Él alborota al pueblo, enseñando por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea(G) hasta aquí».
6 Cuando Pilato oyó esto, preguntó si el hombre era galileo. 7 Al saber que Jesús pertenecía a la jurisdicción de Herodes, lo remitió a Herodes(H), que también estaba en Jerusalén en aquellos[c] días.
Jesús ante Herodes
8 Al ver a Jesús, Herodes se alegró en gran manera, pues hacía mucho tiempo que lo quería ver(I) por lo que había oído hablar de Él, y esperaba ver alguna señal[d] que Él hiciera. 9 Lo interrogó extensamente[e], pero Jesús nada le respondió(J). 10 Los principales sacerdotes y los escribas también estaban allí, y lo acusaban con vehemencia. 11 Entonces Herodes, con sus soldados, después de tratar a Jesús con desprecio y burlarse de Él, lo vistieron con un espléndido manto(K). Después Herodes lo envió de nuevo a Pilato. 12 Aquel mismo día Herodes y Pilato(L) se hicieron amigos, pues antes habían estado enemistados el uno con el otro.
Pilato condena a Jesús
13 Pilato convocó a los principales sacerdotes, a los gobernantes(M) y al pueblo, 14 y les dijo: «Me han presentado a este hombre como uno que incita al pueblo a la rebelión(N), pero habiéndolo interrogado yo delante de ustedes, no he hallado ningún delito en este hombre(O) de las acusaciones que hacen contra Él. 15 Ni tampoco Herodes(P), pues nos lo ha remitido de nuevo; ya que nada ha hecho[f] que merezca la muerte. 16 Por tanto, lo voy a castigar y después, lo soltaré(Q)». 17 [g]Y tenía obligación de soltarles un preso en cada fiesta.
18 Pero todos ellos gritaron a una: «¡(R)Fuera con este, y suéltanos a Barrabás!». 19 Barrabás había sido echado en la cárcel por un levantamiento ocurrido en la ciudad, y por homicidio.
20 Pilato, queriendo soltar a Jesús, les volvió a hablar, 21 pero ellos continuaban gritando: «¡Crucifícalo! ¡Crucifícalo!». 22 Y él les dijo por tercera vez: «¿Por qué? ¿Qué mal ha hecho Este? No he hallado en Él ningún delito digno de muerte; por tanto, lo castigaré y lo soltaré(S)». 23 Pero ellos insistían, pidiendo a grandes voces que fuera crucificado, y sus voces comenzaron a predominar. 24 Entonces Pilato decidió[h] que se les concediera su demanda. 25 Y soltó al que ellos pedían, al que había sido echado en la cárcel por insurrección y homicidio, pero entregó a Jesús a la voluntad de ellos.
Jesús se dirige al Calvario
26 (T)Cuando lo llevaban, tomaron a un tal Simón de Cirene que venía del campo y le pusieron la cruz encima para que la llevara detrás de Jesús(U).
27 Y seguía a Jesús una gran multitud del pueblo y de mujeres que lloraban[i] y se lamentaban(V) por Él. 28 Pero Jesús, volviéndose a ellas, dijo: «Hijas de Jerusalén, no lloren por Mí; lloren más bien por ustedes mismas y por sus hijos. 29 Porque vienen días en que dirán: “Dichosas las estériles, los vientres que nunca concibieron y los senos que nunca criaron(W)”. 30 Entonces comenzarán a decir a los montes: “Caigan sobre nosotros”; y a los collados: “Cúbrannos(X)”. 31 Porque si en el árbol verde hacen esto, ¿qué sucederá en el seco?».
32 También llevaban a otros dos, que eran malhechores, para ser muertos con Él(Y).
La crucifixión
33 (Z)Cuando llegaron al lugar llamado «La Calavera[j]», crucificaron allí a Jesús y a los malhechores, uno a la derecha y otro a la izquierda. 34 Y Jesús decía: «Padre(AA), perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen[k]». Y los soldados echaron suertes, repartiéndose entre sí Sus vestidos(AB).
35 El pueblo estaba allí mirando; y aun los gobernantes(AC) se burlaban de Él, diciendo: «A otros salvó; que se salve Él mismo(AD) si Este es el Cristo[l] de Dios, Su Escogido». 36 Los soldados también se burlaban de Jesús, y se acercaban a Él y le ofrecían vinagre(AE), 37 diciendo: «Si Tú eres el Rey de los judíos, sálvate a Ti mismo(AF)».
38 Había también una inscripción sobre Él[m], que decía: «ESTE ES EL REY DE LOS JUDÍOS(AG)».
Los dos malhechores
39 Uno de los malhechores que estaban colgados allí le lanzaba insultos(AH), diciendo: «¿No eres Tú el Cristo? ¡Sálvate a Ti mismo(AI) y a nosotros!».
40 Pero el otro le contestó, y reprendiéndolo, dijo: «¿Ni siquiera temes tú a Dios a pesar de que estás bajo la misma condena? 41 Nosotros a la verdad, justamente, porque recibimos lo que merecemos por nuestros hechos[n]; pero este nada malo ha hecho». 42 Y añadió: «Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando vengas en[o] Tu reino». 43 Entonces Jesús le dijo: «En verdad te digo: hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso(AJ)».
Muerte de Jesús
44 (AK)Era ya como la hora sexta[p], cuando descendieron[q] tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora novena[r](AL), 45 al eclipsarse el sol. El velo del templo se rasgó en dos[s](AM). 46 Y Jesús, clamando a gran voz, dijo: «Padre, en Tus manos encomiendo Mi espíritu(AN)». Habiendo dicho esto, expiró(AO).
47 Al ver el centurión lo que había sucedido(AP), glorificaba a Dios(AQ), diciendo: «Ciertamente, este hombre era inocente[t]». 48 Todas las multitudes que se habían reunido para presenciar este espectáculo, al observar lo que había acontecido, se volvieron golpeándose el pecho(AR). 49 Pero todos los conocidos de Jesús y las mujeres que lo habían acompañado desde Galilea, estaban a cierta distancia viendo estas cosas(AS).
Sepultura de Jesús
50 (AT)Había un hombre llamado José, miembro del Concilio[u](AU), varón bueno y justo, 51 el cual no había estado de acuerdo con el plan y el proceder de los demás[v], que era de Arimatea, ciudad de los judíos, y que esperaba el reino de Dios(AV). 52 Este fue a Pilato y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesús, 53 y bajándolo, lo envolvió en un lienzo de lino, y lo puso en un sepulcro excavado en la roca donde nadie había sido puesto todavía. 54 Era el día de la preparación(AW), y estaba para comenzar el día de reposo.
55 Y las mujeres que habían venido con Jesús desde Galilea(AX) siguieron detrás, y vieron el sepulcro y cómo fue colocado Su cuerpo. 56 Cuando regresaron, prepararon especias aromáticas y perfumes(AY).
Y en el día de reposo descansaron según el mandamiento(AZ).

23 Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate.(A) 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, “We have found this man subverting our nation.(B) He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar(C) and claims to be Messiah, a king.”(D)
3 So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
“You have said so,” Jesus replied.
4 Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”(E)
5 But they insisted, “He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee(F) and has come all the way here.”
6 On hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean.(G) 7 When he learned that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod,(H) who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
8 When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him.(I) From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform a sign of some sort. 9 He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.(J) 10 The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him. 11 Then Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe,(K) they sent him back to Pilate. 12 That day Herod and Pilate became friends(L)—before this they had been enemies.
13 Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people, 14 and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.(M) 15 Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death. 16 Therefore, I will punish him(N) and then release him.” [17] [a]
18 But the whole crowd shouted, “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!”(O) 19 (Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)
20 Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again. 21 But they kept shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
22 For the third time he spoke to them: “Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him.”(P)
23 But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. 24 So Pilate decided to grant their demand. 25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.
The Crucifixion of Jesus(Q)
26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene,(R) who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.(S) 27 A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed(T) for him. 28 Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.(U) 29 For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’(V) 30 Then
31 For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”(X)
32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed.(Y) 33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father,(Z) forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[c](AA) And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.(AB)
35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him.(AC) They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”(AD)
36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him.(AE) They offered him wine vinegar(AF) 37 and said, “If you are the king of the Jews,(AG) save yourself.”
38 There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the jews.(AH)
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”(AI)
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”(AJ)
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[d]”(AK)
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”(AL)
The Death of Jesus(AM)
44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,(AN) 45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple(AO) was torn in two.(AP) 46 Jesus called out with a loud voice,(AQ) “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”[e](AR) When he had said this, he breathed his last.(AS)
47 The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God(AT) and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.” 48 When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts(AU) and went away. 49 But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee,(AV) stood at a distance,(AW) watching these things.
The Burial of Jesus(AX)
50 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God.(AY) 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54 It was Preparation Day,(AZ) and the Sabbath was about to begin.
55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee(BA) followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes.(BB) But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.(BC)

5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.
24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews.
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
