18 Er sagte ihnen aber ein Gleichnis davon, daß man allezeit beten und nicht laß werden solle,
2 und sprach: Es war ein Richter in einer Stadt, der fürchtete sich nicht vor Gott und scheute sich vor keinem Menschen.
3 Es war aber eine Witwe in dieser Stadt, die kam zu ihm und sprach: Rette mich von meinem Widersacher!
4 Und er wollte lange nicht. Darnach aber dachte er bei sich selbst: Ob ich mich schon vor Gott nicht fürchte noch vor keinem Menschen scheue,
5 dieweil aber mir diese Witwe so viel Mühe macht, will ich sie retten, auf daß sie nicht zuletzt komme und betäube mich.
6 Da sprach der HERR: Höret hier, was der ungerechte Richter sagt!
7 Sollte aber Gott nicht auch retten seine Auserwählten, die zu ihm Tag und Nacht rufen, und sollte er's mit ihnen verziehen?
8 Ich sage euch: Er wird sie erretten in einer Kürze. Doch wenn des Menschen Sohn kommen wird, meinst du, daß er auch werde Glauben finden auf Erden?
9 Er sagte aber zu etlichen, die sich selbst vermaßen, daß sie fromm wären, und verachteten die andern, ein solch Gleichnis:
10 Es gingen zwei Menschen hinauf in den Tempel, zu beten, einer ein Pharisäer, der andere ein Zöllner.
11 Der Pharisäer stand und betete bei sich selbst also: Ich danke dir, Gott, daß ich nicht bin wie die anderen Leute, Räuber, Ungerechte, Ehebrecher, oder auch wie dieser Zöllner.
12 Ich faste zweimal in der Woche und gebe den Zehnten von allem, was ich habe.
13 Und der Zöllner stand von ferne, wollte auch seine Augen nicht aufheben gen Himmel, sondern schlug an seine Brust und sprach: Gott, sei mir Sünder gnädig!
14 Ich sage euch: Dieser ging hinab gerechtfertigt in sein Haus vor jenem. Denn wer sich selbst erhöht, der wird erniedrigt werden; und wer sich selbst erniedrigt, der wird erhöht werden.
15 Sie brachten auch junge Kindlein zu ihm, daß er sie anrühren sollte. Da es aber die Jünger sahen, bedrohten sie die.
16 Aber Jesus rief sie zu sich und sprach: Lasset die Kindlein zu mir kommen und wehret ihnen nicht; denn solcher ist das Reich Gottes.
17 Wahrlich ich sage euch: Wer nicht das Reich Gottes annimmt wie ein Kind, der wird nicht hineinkommen.
18 Und es fragte ihn ein Oberster und sprach: Guter Meister, was muß ich tun, daß ich das ewige Leben ererbe?
19 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Was heißest du mich gut? Niemand ist gut denn der einige Gott.
20 Du weißt die Gebote wohl: "Du sollst nicht ehebrechen; du sollst nicht töten; du sollst nicht stehlen; du sollst nicht falsch Zeugnis reden; du sollst deinen Vater und deine Mutter ehren."
21 Er aber sprach: Das habe ich alles gehalten von meiner Jugend auf.
22 Da Jesus das hörte, sprach er zu ihm: Es fehlt dir noch eins. Verkaufe alles, was du hast, und gib's den Armen, so wirst du einen Schatz im Himmel haben; und komm, folge mir nach!
23 Da er aber das hörte, ward er traurig; denn er war sehr reich.
24 Da aber Jesus sah, daß er traurig war geworden, sprach er: Wie schwer werden die Reichen in das Reich Gottes kommen!
25 Es ist leichter, daß ein Kamel gehe durch ein Nadelöhr, denn daß ein Reicher in das Reich Gottes komme.
26 Da sprachen, die das hörten: Wer kann denn selig werden?
27 Er aber sprach: Was bei den Menschen unmöglich ist, das ist bei Gott möglich.
28 Da sprach Petrus: Siehe, wir haben alles verlassen und sind dir nachgefolgt.
29 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Wahrlich ich sage euch: Es ist niemand, der ein Haus verläßt oder Eltern oder Brüder oder Weib oder Kinder um des Reiches Gottes willen,
30 der es nicht vielfältig wieder empfange in dieser Zeit, und in der zukünftigen Welt das ewige Leben.
31 Er nahm aber zu sich die Zwölf und sprach zu ihnen: Sehet, wir gehen hinauf gen Jerusalem, und es wird alles vollendet werden, was geschrieben ist durch die Propheten von des Menschen Sohn.
32 Denn er wird überantwortet werden den Heiden; und er wird verspottet und geschmähet und verspeiet werden,
33 und sie werden ihn geißeln und töten; und am dritten Tage wird er wieder auferstehen.
34 Sie aber verstanden der keines, und die Rede war ihnen verborgen, und wußten nicht, was das Gesagte war.
35 Es geschah aber, da er nahe an Jericho kam, saß ein Blinder am Wege und bettelte.
36 Da er aber hörte das Volk, das hindurchging, forschte er, was das wäre.
37 Da verkündigten sie ihm, Jesus von Nazareth ginge vorüber.
38 Und er rief und sprach: Jesu, du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich mein!
39 Die aber vornean gingen, bedrohten ihn, er sollte schweigen. Er aber schrie viel mehr: Du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich mein!
40 Jesus aber stand still und hieß ihn zu sich führen. Da sie ihn aber nahe zu ihm brachten, fragte er ihn
41 und sprach: Was willst du, daß ich dir tun soll? Er sprach: HERR, daß ich sehen möge.
42 Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Sei sehend! dein Glaube hat dir geholfen.
43 Und alsobald ward er sehend und folgte ihm nach und pries Gott. Und alles Volk, das solches sah, lobte Gott.

18 Unya gisuginlan ni Jesus ang iyang mga tinun-an sa usa ka sambingay aron tudloan sila sa pag-ampo kanunay ug dili mawad-an sa paglaom. 2 Miingon siya, “Sa usa ka siyudad may usa ka huwes nga walay kahadlok sa Dios ug walay pagpakabana sa iyang isigka-tawo. 3 Ug sa maong siyudad may usa ka biyuda nga nagbalik-balik sa huwes aron tabangan siya sa iyang kaso. 4-5 Sa sinugdan dili molaban ang huwes. Apan sa kaulahian, tungod kay nagbalik-balik ang balo, nakahuna-huna siya nga bisan tuod ug wala siyay kahadlok sa Dios ug walay pagpakabana sa iyang isigka-tawo, molaban na lang siya kay gipul-an na siya sa pagbalik-balik sa balo.” 6 Unya miingon si Ginoong Jesus kanila, “Nan, nakita ninyo ang gihimo sa huwes bisan dili siya matarong? 7 Ang Dios pa kaha! Dili mahimo nga dili siya molaban sa iyang mga pinili nga nagtawag kaniya adlaw ug gabii aron molutaw ang kaangayan. Sigurado gayod nga dili niya sila pasagdan. 8 Ang tinuod, diha-diha tabangan niya sila. Apan kon mobalik na ako nga Anak sa Tawo dinhi sa kalibotan, may makita pa kaha ako nga mga tawo nga may pagtuo?”
Ang Sambingay bahin sa Pariseo ug sa Maniningil ug Buhis
9 May mga tawo didto nga nagtuo nga sila lang gayod ang matarong ug gitamay nila ang uban. Busa gisultihan sila ni Jesus niining sambingay. 10 “May duha ka tawo nga miadto sa templo aron sa pag-ampo. Ang usa Pariseo ug ang usa maniningil ug buhis. 11 Mitindog ang Pariseo ug nagaampo mahitungod sa iyang kaugalingon ug sama niini, ‘Dios ko, mapasalamaton ako kanimo nga dili ako sama sa uban nga mga tawo—mga mangingilad, limbongan, babaero, ug dili usab ako sama nianang maniningil ug buhis. 12 Kaduha ako magpuasa kada semana, ug gihatag ko ang ikanapulo nga bahin sa tanan kong kinitaan.’ 13 Ang maniningil ug buhis nagtindog sa layo ug dili gani siya mohangad sa langit, hinuon gipukpok niya ang iyang dughan sa paghinulsol ug miingon, ‘Dios ko, kaloy-i ako nga usa ka makasasala!’ 14 Sa pagkatinuod, kining tawhana, ug dili ang Pariseo, ang mipauli nga gipakamatarong sa Dios. Kay si bisan kinsa nga magpataas sa iyang kaugalingon ipaubos sa Dios, apan ang magpaubos sa iyang kaugalingon ipataas.”
Gipanalanginan ni Jesus ang Gagmay nga mga Bata
(Mat. 19:13-15; Mar. 10:13-16)
15 Usa ka adlaw niana gidala sa mga tawo ngadto kang Jesus ang ilang gagmay nga mga bata aron pandongan niya sa iyang kamot sa pagpanalangin kanila. Sa dihang nakita sa iyang mga tinun-an nga gidala sa mga tawo ang ilang kabataan ngadto kang Jesus gibadlong nila sila. 16 Apan gitawag ni Jesus ang mga bata nga moduol kaniya, ug miingon siya sa iyang mga tinun-an, “Pasagdi lang ninyo ang mga bata nga moduol kanako. Ayaw ninyo sila pugngi, kay ang mga sama kanila nasakop sa paghari sa Dios. 17 Sa pagkatinuod, si bisan kinsa nga dili magpasakop sa paghari sa Dios nga sama sa pagpasakop niining mga bata dili gayod mahiapil sa paghari sa Dios.”
Ang Tawo nga Adunahan

18 May usa ka tigdumala sa mga Judio nga nangutana kang Jesus, “Maayong Magtutudlo, unsa man ang akong himuon aron makaangkon ako sa kinabuhi nga walay kataposan?” 19 Mitubag si Jesus kaniya, “Nganong miingon ka man nga maayo ako? Walay bisan kinsa nga maayo gawas sa Dios. 20 Bahin sa imong pangutana, nahibalo ka na sa giingon sa Kasugoan: ‘Ayaw pagpanapaw, ayaw pagpatay, ayaw pagpangawat, ayaw pagsaksi ug bakak, tahora ang imong amahan ug inahan.’ ”[a] 21 Mitubag ang tawo, “Kanang tanan gituman ko sukad pa sa akong pagkabata.” 22 Sa pagkadungog ni Jesus sa iyang tubag, miingon siya, “Usa pa gayod ka butang ang angay mong himuon. Ibaligya ang tanan mong kabtangan, ug ang halin ipanghatag sa mga kabos. Ug mahimo kang adunahan didto sa langit. Pagkahuman, balik ug sunod kanako.” 23 Apan sa pagkadungog niya niini, nasubo siya tungod kay adunahan man siya kaayo.
24 Sa dihang nakita ni Jesus nga nasubo siya, miingon si Jesus, “Lisod gayod alang sa mga adunahan nga magpasakop sa paghari sa Dios. 25 Sayon pa ang paglusot sa mananap nga kamelyo sa bangag sa dagom kaysa pagpasakop sa adunahan sa paghari sa Dios.” 26 Unya nangutana ang mga nakadungog sa gisulti ni Jesus, “Kon mao kana, kinsa na man lang ang maluwas?” 27 Gitubag sila ni Jesus, “Ang dili mahimo sa tawo mahimo sa Dios.”
28 Unya miingon si Pedro, “Amo bayang gibiyaan ang among mga kabtangan ug misunod kami kanimo.” 29 Miingon si Jesus kanila, “Sa pagkatinuod, sultihan ko kamo, walay bisan kinsa nga mibiya sa iyang balay, asawa, mga igsoon, ginikanan, o mga anak tungod ug alang sa iyang pagpasakop sa paghari sa Dios, 30 nga dili makadawat niining panahona sa mas labaw pa kaysa iyang gibiyaan, ug sa umaabot may kinabuhi pa siya nga walay kataposan.”
Ang Ikatulo nga Paghisgot ni Jesus bahin sa Iyang Kamatayon
(Mat. 20:17-19; Mar. 10:32-34)
31 Gilain ni Jesus ang iyang 12 ka apostoles ug giingnan, “Paminaw kamo! Nagapadulong kita sa Jerusalem, ug didto matuman ang mga sinulat sa mga propeta mahitungod kanako nga Anak sa Tawo. 32 Kay itugyan ako ngadto sa mga tawo nga dili Judio. Bugalbugalan nila ako, pakaulawan ug luwaan. 33 Latigohon usab nila ako ug patyon, apan sa ikatulo ka adlaw mabanhaw ako.” 34 Apan wala gayod makasabot ang mga apostoles kon unsa ang buot ipasabot ni Jesus, tungod kay gililong kanila ang kahulogan sa iyang gisulti.
Giayo ni Jesus ang Buta nga Makililimos
(Mat. 20:29-34; Mar. 10:46-52)
35 Sa nagkaduol na sila si Jesus sa Jerico, may usa ka buta nga naglingkod sa daplin sa dalan ug nagpakilimos. 36 Pagkadungog niya nga daghan ang nangagi, nangutana siya kon unsa kadto. 37 Gisultihan nila kini nga miagi si Jesus nga taga-Nazaret. 38 Pagkahibalo niya niini misinggit siya, “Jesus, kaliwat ni David, kaloy-i intawon ako!” 39 Gibadlong siya sa mga tawo aron mohilom. Apan gipakusgan pa gayod hinuon niya ang pagsinggit, “Kaliwat ni David, kaloy-i intawon ako!” 40 Unya mihunong si Jesus ug misugo nga dad-on ang buta ngadto kaniya. Pag-abot sa buta gipangutana kini ni Jesus, 41 “Unsay imong gusto nga buhaton ko kanimo?” Mitubag ang buta, “Ginoo, gusto ko nga makakita pag-usab.” 42 Miingon si Jesus kaniya, “Makakita ka na. Ang imong pagtuo nagaayo[b] kanimo.” 43 Ug diha-diha nakakita siya. Misunod dayon siya kang Jesus ug nagdayeg sa Dios. Pagkakita sa mga tawo niini, midayeg usab sila sa Dios.

2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
35 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.
39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
41 Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow
18 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.(A) 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice(B) against my adversary.’
4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”(C)
6 And the Lord(D) said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out(E) to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man(F) comes,(G) will he find faith on the earth?”
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness(H) and looked down on everyone else,(I) Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray,(J) one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself(K) and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast(L) twice a week and give a tenth(M) of all I get.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast(N) and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’(O)
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”(P)
The Little Children and Jesus(Q)
15 People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child(R) will never enter it.”
The Rich and the Kingdom of God(S)
18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”(T)
19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’[a]”(U)
21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor,(V) and you will have treasure in heaven.(W) Then come, follow me.”
23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!(X) 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”(Y)
28 Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”(Z)
29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come(AA) eternal life.”(AB)
Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time(AC)
31 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem,(AD) and everything that is written by the prophets(AE) about the Son of Man(AF) will be fulfilled. 32 He will be delivered over to the Gentiles.(AG) They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; 33 they will flog him(AH) and kill him.(AI) On the third day(AJ) he will rise again.”(AK)
34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.(AL)
A Blind Beggar Receives His Sight(AM)
35 As Jesus approached Jericho,(AN) a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”(AO)
38 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David,(AP) have mercy(AQ) on me!”
39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”(AR)
40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”(AS) 43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.(AT)
