Jesus botar en man på sabbaten

14 En sabbat var Jesus hembjuden på mat till en farisé som var medlem i rådet[a]. Man observerade honom noga, eftersom det där fanns framför honom en man som led av vatten i kroppen. Jesus frågade då fariseerna och de laglärda: ”Är det tillåtet att bota någon på sabbaten eller inte?”

Men de teg. Då rörde Jesus vid mannen och botade honom och lät honom gå.

Sedan sa han till dem: ”Om någon av er har ett barn eller kanske en oxe som ramlar i en brunn, drar ni då inte genast upp dem, även om det skulle råka vara sabbat?”

Men det kunde de inte svara på.

Sträva inte efter främsta platsen

När Jesus såg att gästerna försökte få de främsta platserna vid bordet, gav han dem denna liknelse: ”Om du blir bjuden på bröllop, så sträva inte efter att få den främsta platsen. Det kan ju komma någon som är mer respekterad än du, och då kommer värden och säger: ’Kan du vara snäll och lämna din plats åt den här personen.’ Då måste du generad söka upp en plats längst ner vid bordet.

10 När du är bjuden, välj istället en plats längst ner. När värden då kommer och ser dig kanske han säger: ’Min vän, det finns en bättre plats här framme för dig!’ Då kommer du att bli hedrad inför alla de andra gästerna. 11 Den som upphöjer sig själv ska förödmjukas, men den som ödmjukar sig själv ska upphöjas.”

12 Sedan sa Jesus till honom som hade bjudit in honom: ”När du bjuder till fest, så bjud inte dina vänner eller syskon eller släktingar eller rika grannar, för då blir din belöning att de bjuder tillbaka. 13 Nej, bjud istället till festen dem som är fattiga och handikappade, förlamade och blinda. 14 Då är du lycklig, eftersom de inte kan ge någon belöning tillbaka, utan du ska få din belöning vid de rättfärdigas uppståndelse.”

Liknelsen om den stora festen

(Matt 22:2-14)

15 En man som var med vid bordet och hörde detta, sa till honom: ”Lycklig är den som får komma till festmåltiden i Guds rike.”

16 Då svarade Jesus: ”En man ordnade en stor fest och bjöd in många gäster. 17 När det sedan var dags för festen, sände han iväg sin tjänare till de inbjudna för att säga: ’Allt är klart, välkomna till festen.’ 18 Men alla kom med ursäkter. En sa: ’Jag har just köpt en åker och måste gå och inspektera den. Förlåt att jag inte kan komma!’ 19 En annan sa: ’Jag har just köpt fem par oxar och vill se vad de duger till. Förlåt att jag inte kan komma!’ 20 En tredje sa: ’Jag har just gift mig och kan inte komma.’

21 När tjänaren kom tillbaka och berättade vad de hade sagt, blev hans herre arg och befallde honom att genast gå ut på alla gator och gränder i hela staden och hämta fattiga och handikappade, blinda och förlamade. 22 Men tjänaren sa: ’Herre, jag har gjort som du befallde, men det finns fortfarande platser kvar.’

23 Då sa mannen till sin tjänare: ’Gå ut överallt på vägar och stigar och uppmana alla att komma, så att mitt hus blir fullt. 24 Men jag säger er att ingen av dem som jag bjöd första gången ska få vara med på festen.’ ”

Priset för att vara en lärjunge till Jesus

(Matt 10:37-38; 5:13; Mark 9:50)

25 Jesus var omgiven av stora mängder människor, och han vände sig till dem och sa: 26 ”Den som kommer till mig utan att hata sina föräldrar och sin hustru eller man och barn och syskon, ja, till och med sitt eget liv, kan inte vara min lärjunge.[b] 27 Den som inte bär sitt kors och följer mig kan inte vara min lärjunge.

28 Om någon av er vill bygga ett torn, sätter han sig då inte ner först och räknar ut om han har tillräckligt med pengar för att avsluta bygget? 29 Annars kanske han inte kommer längre än till grunden, och när folk ser det, blir han utskrattad. 30 ’Titta på den där mannen’, kommer man att säga. ’Han började bygga, men blev inte färdig!’

31 Eller när en kung tänker dra ut i krig mot en annan kung, sätter han sig inte först ner och funderar på om hans armé med 10 000 man är stark nog att möta den fiende som kommer emot honom med 20 000 man? 32 Visar det sig vara omöjligt, sänder han istället ut medlare för att be om fred, medan fiendetrupperna fortfarande är långt borta.

33 Ingen av er kan alltså bli min lärjunge, om han inte ger upp allt han äger för min skull. 34 Salt är bra, men till vilken nytta är saltet om det förlorat sin kraft? Kan man få det salt igen? 35 Det duger inte ens till jorden eller till gödselhögen. Det måste kastas bort. Lyssna, du som har öron att höra med!”

14 安 息 日 , 耶 穌 到 一 個 法 利 賽 人 的 首 領 家 裡 去 吃 飯 , 他 們 就 窺 探 他 。

在 他 面 前 有 一 個 患 水 臌 的 人 。

耶 穌 對 律 法 師 和 法 利 賽 人 說 : 安 息 日 治 病 , 可 以 不 可 以 ?

他 們 卻 不 言 語 。 耶 穌 就 治 好 那 人 , 叫 他 走 了 ;

便 對 他 們 說 : 你 們 中 間 誰 有 驢 或 有 牛 , 在 安 息 日 掉 在 井 裡 , 不 立 時 拉 他 上 來 呢 ?

他 們 不 能 對 答 這 話 。

耶 穌 見 所 請 的 客 揀 擇 首 位 , 就 用 比 喻 對 他 們 說 :

你 被 人 請 去 赴 婚 姻 的 筵 席 , 不 要 坐 在 首 位 上 , 恐 怕 有 比 你 尊 貴 的 客 被 他 請 來 ;

那 請 你 們 的 人 前 來 對 你 說 : 讓 座 給 這 一 位 罷 ! 你 就 羞 羞 慚 慚 的 退 到 末 位 上 去 了 。

10 你 被 請 的 時 候 , 就 去 坐 在 末 位 上 , 好 叫 那 請 你 的 人 來 對 你 說 : 朋 友 , 請 上 坐 。 那 時 , 你 在 同 席 的 人 面 前 就 有 光 彩 了 。

11 因 為 , 凡 自 高 的 , 必 降 為 卑 , 自 卑 的 , 必 升 為 高 。

12 耶 穌 又 對 請 他 的 人 說 : 你 擺 設 午 飯 或 晚 飯 , 不 要 請 你 的 朋 友 、 弟 兄 、 親 屬 , 和 富 足 的 鄰 舍 , 恐 怕 他 們 也 請 你 , 你 就 得 了 報 答 。

13 你 擺 設 筵 席 , 倒 要 請 那 貧 窮 的 、 殘 廢 的 、 瘸 腿 的 、 瞎 眼 的 , 你 就 有 福 了 !

14 因 為 他 們 沒 有 甚 麼 可 報 答 你 。 到 義 人 復 活 的 時 候 , 你 要 得 著 報 答 。

15 同 席 的 有 一 人 聽 見 這 話 , 就 對 耶 穌 說 : 在 神 國 裡 吃 飯 的 有 福 了 !

16 耶 穌 對 他 說 : 有 一 人 擺 設 大 筵 席 , 請 了 許 多 客 。

17 到 了 坐 席 的 時 候 , 打 發 僕 人 去 對 所 請 的 人 說 : 請 來 罷 ! 樣 樣 都 齊 備 了 。

18 眾 人 一 口 同 音 的 推 辭 。 頭 一 個 說 : 我 買 了 一 塊 地 , 必 須 去 看 看 。 請 你 准 我 辭 了 。

19 又 有 一 個 說 : 我 買 了 五 對 牛 , 要 去 試 一 試 。 請 你 准 我 辭 了 。

20 又 有 一 個 說 : 我 才 娶 了 妻 , 所 以 不 能 去 。

21 那 僕 人 回 來 , 把 這 事 都 告 訴 了 主 人 。 家 主 就 動 怒 , 對 僕 人 說 : 快 出 去 , 到 城 裡 大 街 小 巷 , 領 那 貧 窮 的 、 殘 廢 的 、 瞎 眼 的 、 瘸 腿 的 來 。

22 僕 人 說 : 主 阿 , 你 所 吩 咐 的 已 經 辦 了 , 還 有 空 座 。

23 主 人 對 僕 人 說 , 你 出 去 到 路 上 和 籬 笆 那 裡 , 勉 強 人 進 來 , 坐 滿 我 的 屋 子 。

24 我 告 訴 你 們 , 先 前 所 請 的 人 , 沒 有 一 個 得 嘗 我 的 筵 席 。

25 有 極 多 的 人 和 耶 穌 同 行 。 他 轉 過 來 對 他 們 說 :

26 人 到 我 這 裡 來 , 若 不 愛 我 勝 過 愛 ( 愛 我 勝 過 愛 : 原 文 是 恨 ) 自 己 的 父 母 、 妻 子 、 兒 女 、 弟 兄 、 姐 妹 , 和 自 己 的 性 命 , 就 不 能 作 我 的 門 徒 。

27 凡 不 背 著 自 己 十 字 架 跟 從 我 的 , 也 不 能 作 我 的 門 徒 。

28 你 們 那 一 個 要 蓋 一 座 樓 , 不 先 坐 下 算 計 花 費 , 能 蓋 成 不 能 呢 ?

29 恐 怕 安 了 地 基 , 不 能 成 功 , 看 見 的 人 都 笑 話 他 , 說 :

30 這 個 人 開 了 工 , 卻 不 能 完 工 。

31 或 是 一 個 王 出 去 和 別 的 王 打 仗 , 豈 不 先 坐 下 酌 量 , 能 用 一 萬 兵 去 敵 那 領 二 萬 兵 來 攻 打 他 的 麼 ?

32 若 是 不 能 , 就 趁 敵 人 還 遠 的 時 候 , 派 使 者 去 求 和 息 的 條 款 。

33 這 樣 , 你 們 無 論 甚 麼 人 , 若 不 撇 下 一 切 所 有 的 , 就 不 能 作 我 的 門 徒 。

34 鹽 本 是 好 的 ; 鹽 若 失 了 味 , 可 用 甚 麼 叫 他 再 鹹 呢 ?

35 或 用 在 田 裡 , 或 堆 在 糞 裡 , 都 不 合 式 , 只 好 丟 在 外 面 。 有 耳 可 聽 的 , 就 應 當 聽 !

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath

14 It happened that when He went into the house of one of the [a]leaders of the Pharisees on the Sabbath to eat bread, (A)they were watching Him [b]closely. And [c]there in front of Him was a man suffering from [d]edema. And Jesus responded and said to the [e](B)lawyers and [f]Pharisees, (C)Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” But they kept silent. And He took hold of him and healed him, and sent him away. And He said to them, [g](D)Which one of you will have a son or an ox fall into a well, and will not immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?” (E)And they could offer no reply to this.

Parable of the Guests

Now He began telling a parable to the invited guests when He noticed how (F)they had been picking out the places of honor at the table, saying to them, “Whenever you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, (G)do not [h]take the place of honor, for someone more distinguished than you may have been invited by him, and the one who invited you [i]both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this person,’ and then (H)in disgrace you will proceed to occupy the last place. 10 But whenever you are invited, go and [j]take the last place, so that when the one who has invited you comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, (I)move up higher’; then you will have honor in the sight of all who are [k]dining at the table with you. 11 (J)For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

12 Now He also went on to say to the one who had invited Him, “Whenever you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor wealthy neighbors, otherwise they may also invite you to a meal in return, and that will be your [l]repayment. 13 But whenever you give a [m]banquet, invite people who are poor, who have disabilities, who are limping, and people who are blind; 14 and you will be blessed, since they [n]do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at (K)the resurrection of the righteous.”

15 Now when one of those who were reclining at the table with Him heard this, he said to Him, “(L)Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!”

Parable of the Dinner

16 But He said to him, (M)A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many; 17 and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, because everything is ready now.’ 18 And yet they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I purchased a field and I need to go out to look at it; [o]please consider me excused.’ 19 And another one said, ‘I bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; [p]please consider me excused.’ 20 And another one said, ‘(N)I took a woman as my wife, and for that reason I cannot come.’ 21 And the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here those who are poor, those with disabilities, those who are blind, and those who are limping.’ 22 And later the slave said, ‘Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’ 23 And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the roads and the hedges and press upon them to come in, so that my house will be filled. 24 For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my dinner.’”

Discipleship Tested

25 Now [q]large crowds were going along with Him, and He turned and said to them, 26 (O)If anyone comes to Me and does not [r]hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. 27 Whoever does not (P)carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28 For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who are watching it will begin to ridicule him, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build, and was not able to finish!’ 31 Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in battle, will not first sit down and (Q)consider whether he is strong enough with ten thousand men to face the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 Otherwise, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and requests terms of peace. 33 So then, none of you can be My disciple who (R)does not [s]give up all his own possessions.

34 “Therefore, salt is good; but (S)if even salt has become tasteless, with what will it be [t]seasoned? 35 It is useless either for the soil or the manure pile, so it is thrown out. (T)The one who has ears to hear, [u]let him hear.”

14 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.

And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.

And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;

And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

And they could not answer him again to these things.

And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.

When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;

And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,

26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?

35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Jesus at a Pharisee’s House(A)

14 One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat in the house of a prominent Pharisee,(B) he was being carefully watched.(C) There in front of him was a man suffering from abnormal swelling of his body. Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law,(D) “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”(E) But they remained silent. So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him on his way.

Then he asked them, “If one of you has a child[a] or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out?”(F) And they had nothing to say.

When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table,(G) he told them this parable: “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. 10 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. 11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”(H)

12 Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,(I) 14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”(J)

The Parable of the Great Banquet(K)

15 When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast(L) in the kingdom of God.”(M)

16 Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’

18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’

19 “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’

20 “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’

21 “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’(N)

22 “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’

23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’”(O)

The Cost of Being a Disciple

25 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.(P) 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.(Q)

28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’

31 “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33 In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.(R)

34 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?(S) 35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.(T)

“Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”(U)
