Isus i sljedbenici
8 Nakon toga Isus je išao po gradovima i selima propovijedajući i navješćujući Radosnu vijest o Božjem kraljevstvu. S njim su bila i Dvanaestorica. 2 Bile su tu i neke žene koje je izliječio od zlih duhova i raznih bolesti: Marija zvana Magdalena, iz koje je istjerao sedam zlih duhova; 3 Ivana, žena Herodovog upravitelja Kuza; Suzana i mnoge druge. Te su žene vlastitim dobrima pomagale Isusu i njegovim apostolima.
Usporedba o sijaču
(Mt 13,1-9; Mk 4,1-8)
4 Dok se još okupljala gomila ljudi iz raznih gradova, Isus je počeo govoriti služeći se usporedbom:
5 »Sijač je krenuo sijati sjeme. Kako je sijao, neko je sjeme palo duž puta. Ljudi su ga zgazili, a ptice pozobale. 6 Drugo je sjeme palo na kamen. Kad je izniknulo, osušilo se jer nije imalo vlage. 7 Neko je pak sjeme palo u trnje, a trnje je naraslo skupa s njim i ugušilo ga. 8 Neko je sjeme palo na plodno tlo, naraslo i donijelo stostruki urod.« Dok je ovo govorio, pozivao je ljude:
»Tko sluša, neka shvati!«
9 Njegovi su ga učenici pitali što ta usporedba znači 10 pa im je rekao: »Vama je dano da saznate tajne Božjega kraljevstva, a ostalima se govori u usporedbama, tako da
‘gledajući ne vide i slušajući ne razumiju.’«[a]
Značenje usporedbe o sijaču
(Mt 13,18-23; Mk 4,13-20)
11 »Ovo je značenje usporedbe: sjeme je Božja riječ. 12 Ono koje je palo duž puta, predstavlja one koji čuju, ali dolazi đavao i uzima im riječ iz srca, tako da ne povjeruju u nju i ne budu spašeni. 13 Sjeme, koje je palo na kamen, predstavlja one koji radosno prihvaćaju riječ čim je čuju, ali nemaju korijena. Oni kratko vrijeme vjeruju, ali kad dođu iskušenja, otpadnu. 14 Sjeme, koje je palo među trnje, predstavlja one koji čuju riječ, ali oni nikada ne donesu ploda jer je zaguše brigama, bogatstvom i raznim životnim užicima. 15 A sjeme koje je palo na dobru zemlju, predstavlja ljude dobrog i poštenog srca koji zadrže riječ koju čuju i svojom ustrajnošću donose plodove.«
Svjetiljka
(Mk 4,21-25)
16 »Nitko ne pali svjetiljku da je stavi pod posudu ili pod krevet. Svjetiljka se stavlja na postolje, tako da oni koji ulaze mogu vidjeti svjetlo. 17 Jer, nema ništa skriveno što neće biti otkriveno niti išta tajno što neće biti obznanjeno i ugledati svjetlo dana. 18 Dakle, slušajte pozorno, jer onaj tko ima dobit će još više, a onome koji nema uzet će se i ono što misli da ima.«
Isusova prava obitelj
(Mt 12,46-50; Mk 3,31-35)
19 Isusova majka i braća došli su k njemu, ali mu se zbog gomile nisu mogli približiti. 20 Netko je javio Isusu: »Tvoja majka i braća stoje vani i žele te vidjeti.«
21 A on im je odgovorio: »Moja majka i moja braća su oni koji slušaju Božju riječ i izvršavaju je.«
Isus stišava oluju
(Mt 8,23-27; Mk 4,35-41)
22 Jednog je dana Isus ušao u lađicu sa svojim učenicima i rekao im: »Pođimo na drugu stranu jezera!« I isplovili su. 23 Dok su plovili, Isus je zaspao. Na jezero se spustila oluja. Lađica se počela puniti vodom i oni su se našli u opasnosti. 24 Učenici su došli k Isusu i probudili ga: »Gospodaru, Gospodaru, tonemo!«
Isus je na to ustao, zapovjedio vjetru i valovima da se stišaju i sve se smirilo. 25 Zatim je rekao učenicima: »Gdje vam je vjera?«
A oni su bili zapanjeni i zastrašeni te su govorili jedan drugome: »Tko je ovaj čovjek da zapovijeda čak i vjetru i vodi, a oni mu se pokoravaju?«
Isus oslobađa opsjednutoga
(Mt 8,28-34; Mk 5,1-20)
26 Otplovili su tada u geraski kraj, koji se nalazi nasuprot Galileji, na drugoj strani jezera. 27 Čim je Isus zakoračio na obalu, pristupio mu je čovjek iz grada, opsjednut zlim duhovima. Već dugo nije nosio odjeće niti je živio u kući, nego po grobnicama. 28 Kad je ugledao Isusa, kriknuo je, pao pred njega i jakim glasom povikao: »Što želiš od mene, Isuse, sine Svevišnjega Boga? Molim te, nemoj me mučiti!« 29 Jer, Isus je bio zapovjedio nečistom duhu da izađe iz njega. Već je mnogo puta zli duh zaposjeo čovjeka i premda su ga čuvali pod stražom i vezali mu ruke i noge lancima, uvijek bi ih potrgao, a zao bi ga duh odvukao u puste krajeve.
30 Isus ga je upitao: »Kako se zoveš?«
Čovjek je odgovorio: »Legija«[b] jer su u njega ušli mnogi zli duhovi. 31 Oni su preklinjali Isusa da ih ne pošalje u bezdan. 32 Na obronku je paslo veliko krdo svinja i zli su duhovi tražili Isusa da im dopusti da uđu u njih. On im je dopustio. 33 Zli su duhovi izašli iz čovjeka i ušli u svinje, a krdo se strmoglavilo s litice ravno u jezero i utopilo se.
34 Kad su čuvari krda vidjeli što se dogodilo, otrčali su i ispričali to cijelom gradu i okolici. 35 Ljudi su izašli da vide što se dogodilo. Došli su k Isusu i našli čovjeka iz kojega su izašli zli duhovi kako sjedi do Isusovih nogu, odjeven i zdravog razuma. Sve je obuzeo strah. 36 Oni, koji su vidjeli što se dogodilo, ispričali su im kako je Isus iscijelio čovjeka opsjednutog zlim duhovima. 37 Sve stanovnike geraskoga kraja obuzeo je silan strah pa su molili Isusa da ode od njih. Isus je ušao u lađicu i krenuo natrag. 38 A čovjek iz kojega su izašli zli duhovi molio je Isusa da ga uzme sa sobom.
No Isus ga je poslao od sebe riječima: »Vrati se kući i ispričaj sve što ti je učinio Bog!« 39 Čovjek je otišao i po cijelom gradu razglasio što je Isus učinio za njega.
Djevojčica i bolesna žena
(Mt 9,18-26; Mk 5,21-43)
40 Kad se Isus vratio, mnoštvo ga je srdačno dočekalo jer su ga svi iščekivali. 41 Tada se pojavio i čovjek po imenu Jair, upravitelj sinagoge. Pao je pred Isusove noge i počeo ga preklinjati da dođe u njegovu kuću 42 jer mu je dvanaestogodišnja kći jedinica na samrti. Dok je Isus išao u njegovu kuću, gomila se tiskala oko njega.
43 Tu je bila i neka žena koja je dvanaest godina bolovala od krvarenja i koja je sve svoje imanje bila potrošila na liječnike, a nitko ju nije mogao izliječiti. 44 Ona mu je prišla iza leđa i dotaknula rub njegove odjeće. Istoga trena krvarenje se zaustavilo. 45 Isus je upitao: »Tko me je to dotaknuo?«
I dok su svi nijekali da su to učinili, Petar je rekao: »Učitelju, ljudi se guraju oko tebe sa svih strana.« 46 Isus je rekao: »Netko me je dotaknuo jer osjećam da je sila izašla iz mene.« 47 Kad je žena vidjela da nije prošla nezapaženo, prišla je dršćući i pala pred Isusa. Pred svima je priznala zašto ga je dotaknula i kako je istoga trena ozdravila. 48 A Isus joj je na to rekao: »Kćeri, tvoja te vjera ozdravila. Idi u miru!«
49 Dok je on još govorio, došao je netko iz kuće upravitelja sinagoge i rekao: »Tvoja je kći umrla. Nemoj više zamarati učitelja.«
50 Isus je to čuo i obratio se upravitelju: »Ne boj se! Samo vjeruj i ozdravit će.«
51 Kad je stigao u kuću, nije dopustio da itko uđe s njim osim Petra, Ivana, Jakova i roditelja umrle djevojčice. 52 Svi su prisutni plakali i tugovali za djevojčicom, a Isus im je rekao: »Prestanite plakati jer ona nije mrtva! Samo spava.«
53 No oni su mu se počeli rugati jer su znali da je umrla. 54 Isus ju je primio za ruku i povikao: »Dijete, ustani!« 55 Djevojčici se vratio duh i istoga je trenutka ustala. Isus je tada zapovjedio da joj daju nešto za jelo. 56 Njezini su roditelji ostali zaprepašteni, a on im je zapovjedio da nikome ne govore što se dogodilo.

Some Women Accompany Jesus
8 Soon afterward he went on through one town and village after another, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him,(A) 2 as well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,(B) 3 and Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to them[a] out of their own resources.
The Parable of the Sower
4 When a large crowd was gathering, as people were coming to him from town after town, he said in a parable: 5 “A sower went out to sow his seed, and as he sowed some fell on a path and was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up. 6 Some fell on rock, and as it grew up it withered for lack of moisture. 7 Some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it. 8 Some fell into good soil, and when it grew it produced a hundredfold.” As he said this, he called out, “If you have ears to hear, then hear!”(C)
The Purpose of the Parables
9 Then his disciples asked him what this parable meant.(D) 10 He said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets[b] of the kingdom of God, but to others I speak[c] in parables, so that
‘looking they may not perceive
and hearing they may not understand.’
The Parable of the Sower Explained
11 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.(E) 12 The ones on the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 The ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe only for a while and in a time of testing fall away. 14 As for what fell among the thorns, these are the ones who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. 15 But as for that in the good soil, these are the ones who, when they hear the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart and bear fruit with endurance.
A Lamp under a Jar
16 “No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar or puts it under a bed; rather, one puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light.(F) 17 For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light.(G) 18 So pay attention to how you listen, for to those who have, more will be given, and from those who do not have, even what they seem to have will be taken away.”(H)
The True Kindred of Jesus
19 Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. 20 And he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.” 21 But he said to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”(I)
Jesus Calms a Storm
22 One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they put out,(J) 23 and while they were sailing he fell asleep. A windstorm swept down on the lake, and the boat was filling with water, and they were in danger. 24 They went to him and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And waking up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves; they ceased, and there was a calm.(K) 25 Then he said to them, “Where is your faith?” They were terrified and amazed and said to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water and they obey him?”
Jesus Heals the Gerasene Demoniac
26 Then they arrived at the region of the Gerasenes,[d] which is opposite Galilee. 27 As he stepped out on shore, a man from the city who had demons met him. For a long time he had not worn[e] any clothes, and he did not live in a house but in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him, shouting, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me,”(L) 29 for Jesus[f] had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many times it had seized him; he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the wilds.) 30 Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion,” for many demons had entered him. 31 They begged him not to order them to go back into the abyss.(M)
32 Now there on the hillside a large herd of swine was feeding, and the demons[g] begged Jesus[h] to let them enter these. So he gave them permission. 33 Then the demons came out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd stampeded down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.(N)
34 When the swineherds saw what had happened, they ran off and told it in the city and in the country. 35 Then people came out to see what had happened, and when they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they became frightened.(O) 36 Those who had seen it told them how the one who had been possessed by demons had been healed.(P) 37 Then the whole throng of people of the surrounding region of the Gerasenes[i] asked Jesus[j] to leave them, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned.(Q) 38 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged that he might be with him, but Jesus[k] sent him away, saying, 39 “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how much Jesus had done for him.
A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed
40 Now when Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him. 41 Just then there came a man named Jairus, a leader of the synagogue. He fell at Jesus’s feet and began pleading with him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying.
As he went, the crowds pressed in on him. 43 Now there was a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all she had on physicians,[l] no one could cure her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, and immediately her flow of blood stopped. 45 Then Jesus asked, “Who touched me?” When they all denied it, Peter[m] said, “Master, the crowds are hemming you in and pressing against you.”(R) 46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I noticed that power had gone out from me.”(S) 47 When the woman realized that she could not remain hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him and how she had been immediately healed. 48 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”(T)
49 While he was still speaking, someone came from the synagogue leader’s house to say, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher any longer.”(U) 50 When Jesus heard this, he replied, “Do not be afraid. Only believe, and she will be saved.” 51 When he came to the house, he did not allow anyone to enter with him, except Peter, John, and James and the child’s father and mother. 52 Everyone was weeping and grieving for her, but he said, “Do not cry, for she is not dead but sleeping.”(V) 53 And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But taking her by the hand, he called out, “Child, get up!”(W) 55 Her spirit returned, and she stood up at once, and he directed them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were astounded, but he ordered them to tell no one what had happened.(X)

Sowing Good News from Town to Town
8 Soon afterward, Yeshua began traveling throughout towns and villages, preaching and proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom of God. The twelve were also with Him. 2 And certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Miriam, the one called Magdalene, out of whom seven demons had gone; 3 Joanna, the wife of Kuza, Herod’s finance minister; Susanna; and many others—were supporting them out of their own resources.
4 And when a large crowd was gathering and those from various towns were traveling to Him, He spoke by means of a parable. 5 “The sower went out to spread his seed. As he sowed, some fell beside the road and was trampled; and the birds of the air ate it up. 6 And other seed fell on rock; when it came up, that seed withered away because it had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. 8 And other seed fell into the good soil; and when it came up, it produced fruit a hundredfold.” While saying these things, He would call out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
9 Now His disciples were asking Him what this parable meant. 10 Then Yeshua said to them, “To you has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God; but to the others it is given in parables,[a] in order that
‘Seeing, they may
not see,
and hearing, they may
not understand.’[b]

16 “Now no one after lighting a lamp covers it with some object or places it under a bed. But he puts it on a lampstand so that all those who enter may be able to see the light. 17 For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor secret that shall not be known and come into open view. 18 So pay attention how you listen. For whoever has, to him more will be given. And whoever does not have, even what he supposes he has will be taken away from him.”
19 Yeshua’s mother and brothers came to Him, but were not able to reach Him through the crowd. 20 Now it was reported to Him, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see You.”
21 But answering, He said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who are hearing the word of God and doing it.”
Crossing a Stormy Sea
22 Now on one of those days Yeshua and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let’s move to the other side of the lake.” So they set out. 23 Then as they were sailing, He fell asleep. A violent windstorm came down on the lake, and they were swamped with water and in danger.
24 They came to Yeshua and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re perishing!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging wave of water. Then they stopped, and it became calm.[c]
25 Then Yeshua said to them, “Where is your faith?” But they were afraid and marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him!”
Not Welcome in the Gerasenes
26 They sailed over to the country of the Gerasenes, which is on the opposite side of the Galilee. 27 A demon-plagued man from the town met Yeshua as He was coming out onto the land. The man hadn’t worn any clothing for a long time and was living not in a house but in the tombs.
28 Seeing Yeshua, he cried out and fell down before Yeshua, and with a loud voice said, “What’s between You and me, Yeshua, Ben El Elyon? I’m begging You, do not torment me!” 29 For Yeshua commanded the defiling spirit to come out of the man. For many times it had seized him so that, even though he was restrained and bound with chains and shackles, he would break the chains and be driven by the demons into the desert.
30 Yeshua questioned him, “What is your name?”
“Legion,” he said, for many demons had entered him. 31 They kept begging Him not to command them to depart into the abyss. [d] 32 Now a large herd of pigs was feeding on the mountain. The demons urged Yeshua to let them enter these pigs, and He gave them permission. 33 Then the demons came out of the man and entered into the pigs. The herd rushed down the cliff into the lake and was drowned. 34 But when the herdsmen saw what happened, they ran away and reported it in the town and countryside.
35 People went out to see what had happened. They came to Yeshua and found the man from whom the demons had gone—clothed and in his right mind, sitting at the feet of Yeshua. And they were frightened. 36 Now those who had seen it reported how the demon-plagued man had been restored. 37 And all the people from the region surrounding the Gerasenes asked Yeshua to go away from them because they were overcome by great fear. So He got into a boat and returned.
38 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with Yeshua. But Yeshua sent him away, saying, 39 “Return to your home, and describe all that God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole town all that Yeshua had done for him.
Interrupted on the Way to a Miracle
40 As Yeshua returned, the crowd welcomed Him, for they were all expecting Him. 41 And here came a man named Jairus, a leader in the synagogue. Falling at Yeshua’s feet, he begged Him to come to his house, 42 because his only daughter, about twelve years old, was dying. But as He made His way, the masses were crushing in upon Him.
43 And there was a woman with a blood flow for twelve years,[e] who could not be healed by anyone. 44 She came up from behind and touched the tzitzit of Yeshua’s garment. Immediately, her blood flow stopped. 45 Yeshua said, “Who touched Me?”
When everyone denied it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds are surrounding You and pressing in!”
46 But Yeshua said, “Someone touched Me, for I recognized power going out from Me.” 47 Then seeing that she did not escape notice, the woman came trembling and fell prostrate before Him. In the presence of all the people, she confessed why she had touched Him and how she had been healed immediately. 48 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in shalom.”
49 While He was still speaking, someone comes from the house of the synagogue leader, saying, “Your daughter has died. Don’t bother the Teacher anymore.”
50 But hearing this, Yeshua replied to him, “Do not fear—just keep trusting, and she shall be restored.”
51 When Yeshua came into the house, He didn’t let anyone enter with Him except Peter, John, Jacob, and the child’s father and mother. 52 And everyone was weeping and lamenting her; but He said, “Don’t weep, for she didn’t die but is sleeping.” 53 But they were ridiculing Him, knowing she had died.
54 But Yeshua, took her by the hand and called out, saying, “Child, get up!” 55 Her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. Yeshua ordered food to be given to her to eat. 56 Her parents were utterly astonished, but He ordered them to say nothing of what had happened.
