7 ¶ Y como acabó todas sus palabras oyéndole el pueblo, entró en Capernaum.
2 Y el esclavo de un centurión, al cual tenía él en estima, estaba enfermo y a punto de morir.
3 Y cuando oyó hablar de JESÚS, envió a él los ancianos de los judíos, rogándole que viniera y librara a su esclavo.
4 Y viniendo ellos a Jesús, le rogaron con diligencia, diciéndole: Porque es digno de concederle esto;
5 que ama nuestra nación, y él nos edificó una sinagoga.
6 Y Jesús fue con ellos. Pero cuando ya no estaban lejos de su casa, envió el centurión amigos a él, diciéndole: Señor, no te incomodes, que no soy digno que entres debajo de mi tejado;
7 por lo cual ni aun me tuve por digno de venir a ti; mas di la palabra, y mi esclavo será sano.
8 Porque también yo soy hombre puesto en potestad, que tengo debajo de mí soldados; y digo a éste: Ve, y va; y al otro: Ven, y viene; y a mi esclavo: Haz esto, y lo hace.
9 Lo cual oyendo Jesús, se maravilló de él, y vuelto, dijo a las personas que le seguían: Os digo que ni aun en Israel he hallado tanta fe.
10 Y vueltos a casa los que habían sido enviados, hallaron sano al esclavo que había estado enfermo.
11 ¶ Y aconteció el día después, que él iba a la ciudad que se llama Naín, e iban con él muchos de sus discípulos, y gran multitud.
12 Cuando llegó cerca de la puerta de la ciudad, he aquí que llevaban fuera a un difunto, unigénito de su madre, la cual también era viuda; y había con ella grande compañía de la ciudad.
13 Y cuando el Señor la vio, se compadeció de ella, y le dijo: No llores.
14 Y acercándose, tocó el féretro; y los que lo llevaban, pararon. Y dice: Joven, a ti digo, levántate.
15 Entonces se incorporó el que había muerto, y comenzó a hablar. Y lo dio a su madre.
16 Y todos tuvieron miedo, y glorificaban a Dios, diciendo: Que un gran profeta se ha levantado entre nosotros; y que Dios ha visitado a su pueblo.
17 Y salió esta palabra de él por toda Judea, y por toda la tierra de alrededor.
18 Y los discípulos de Juan le dieron las nuevas de todas estas cosas; y llamó Juan a dos de sus discípulos,
19 ¶ y envió a Jesús, diciendo: ¿Eres tú aquel que había de venir, o esperaremos a otro?
20 Y como los hombres vinieron a él, dijeron: Juan el Bautista nos ha enviado a ti, diciendo: ¿Eres tú aquel que había de venir, o esperaremos a otro?
21 Y en la misma hora sanó a muchos de enfermedades y plagas, y de espíritus malos; y a muchos ciegos dio la vista.
22 Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Id, dad las nuevas a Juan de lo que habéis visto y oído: que los ciegos ven, los cojos andan, los leprosos son limpiados, los sordos oyen, los muertos resucitan, a los pobres es anunciado el Evangelio:
23 y bienaventurado es el que no fuere escandalizado en mí.
24 Cuando se fueron los mensajeros de Juan, comenzó a hablar de Juan a la multitud: ¿Qué salisteis a ver al desierto? ¿Una caña que es agitada por el viento?
25 Mas ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿Un hombre cubierto de vestidos delicados? He aquí, los que están en vestido precioso, y viven en delicias, en los palacios de los reyes están.
26 Mas ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿Un profeta? También os digo, y aun más que profeta.
27 Este es de quien está escrito: He aquí, envío mi ángel delante de tu faz, El cual aparejará tu camino delante de ti.
28 Porque os digo que entre los nacidos de mujeres, no hay mayor profeta que Juan el Bautista; mas el más pequeño en el Reino de Dios es mayor que él.
29 Y todo el pueblo oyéndole, y los publicanos, justificaron a Dios, bautizándose con el bautismo de Juan.
30 Mas los fariseos y los sabios de la ley, desecharon el consejo de Dios contra sí mismos, no siendo bautizados de él.
31 Y dice el Señor: ¿A quién, pues, compararé los hombres de esta generación, y a qué son semejantes?
32 Semejantes son a los muchachos sentados en la plaza, y que dan voces los unos a los otros, y dicen: Os tañimos con flautas, y no bailasteis; os endechamos, y no llorasteis.
33 Porque vino Juan el Bautista, que ni comía pan, ni bebía vino, y decís: Demonio tiene.
34 Vino el Hijo del hombre, que come y bebe, y decís: He aquí un hombre comilón, y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y de pecadores.
35 Mas la sabiduría es justificada de todos sus hijos.
36 ¶ Y le rogó uno de los fariseos, que comiera con él. Y entrado en casa del fariseo, se sentó a la mesa.
37 Y he aquí una mujer que había sido pecadora en la ciudad, cuando entendió que estaba a la mesa en casa de aquel fariseo, trajo un alabastro de ungüento,
38 Y estando detrás a sus pies, comenzó llorando a regar con lágrimas sus pies, y los limpiaba con los cabellos de su cabeza; y besaba sus pies, y los ungía con el ungüento.
39 Y como vio esto el fariseo que le había convidado, habló entre sí, diciendo: Este, si fuera profeta, conocería quién y cuál es la mujer que le toca, que es pecadora.
40 Entonces respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Simón, una cosa tengo que decirte. Y él dice: Di, Maestro.
41 Un acreedor tenía dos deudores: el uno le debía quinientos denarios, y el otro cincuenta;
42 y no teniendo ellos con qué pagar, soltó la deuda a ambos. Di, pues, ¿cuál de éstos le amará más?
43 Y respondiendo Simón, dijo: Pienso que aquel al cual soltó más. Y él le dijo: Rectamente has juzgado.
44 Y vuelto a la mujer, dijo a Simón: ¿Ves esta mujer? Entré en tu casa, no diste agua para mis pies; y ésta ha regado mis pies con lágrimas, y los ha limpiado con los cabellos de su cabeza.
45 No me diste beso, y ésta, desde que entré, no ha cesado de besar mis pies.
46 No ungiste mi cabeza con óleo; y ésta ha ungido con ungüento mis pies.
47 Por lo cual te digo que sus muchos pecados le son perdonados, porque amó mucho; mas al que se perdona poco, poco ama.
48 Y a ella dijo: Los pecados te son perdonados.
49 Y los que estaban juntamente sentados a la mesa, comenzaron a decir entre sí: ¿Quién es éste, que también perdona pecados?
50 Y dijo a la mujer: Tu fe te ha salvado, ve en paz.

Jesus Heals a Centurion's Servant
7 After he had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, (A)he entered Capernaum. 2 Now a centurion had a servant[a] who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him. 3 When the centurion[b] heard about Jesus, (B)he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, (C)“He is worthy to have you do this for him, 5 for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us (D)our synagogue.” 6 And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, (E)do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But (F)say the word, and let my servant be healed. 8 For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 9 When Jesus heard these things, (G)he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such (H)faith.” 10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.
Jesus Raises a Widow's Son
11 Soon afterward[c] he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him. 12 As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, (I)the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, (J)he had compassion on her and (K)said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then he came up and touched (L)the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, (M)arise.” 15 And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus[d] (N)gave him to his mother. 16 Fear seized them all, and (O)they glorified God, saying, (P)“A great prophet has arisen among us!” and (Q)“God has visited his people!” 17 And this report about him spread through the whole of Judea and all the surrounding country.
Messengers from John the Baptist
18 (R)(S)The disciples of John reported all these things to him. And John, 19 calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to the Lord, saying, “Are you the one (T)who is to come, or (U)shall we look for another?” 20 And when the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you the one (V)who is to come, or (W)shall we look for another?’” 21 In that hour (X)he healed many people of diseases and plagues and evil spirits, and (Y)on many who were blind he bestowed sight. 22 And he answered them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: (Z)the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, (AA)lepers[e] are cleansed, and (AB)the deaf hear, (AC)the dead are raised up, (AD)the poor have good news preached to them. 23 And blessed is the one who is (AE)not offended by me.”
24 When John's messengers had gone, Jesus[f] began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out (AF)into the wilderness to see? (AG)A reed shaken by the wind? 25 What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing and live in luxury are in kings' courts. 26 What then did you go out to see? (AH)A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 27 This is he of whom it is written,
(AI)“‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.’
28 I tell you, among those born of women none is greater than John. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” 29 ((AJ)When all the people heard this, and (AK)the tax collectors too, they declared God just,[g] (AL)having been baptized with (AM)the baptism of John, 30 (AN)but the Pharisees and (AO)the lawyers (AP)rejected (AQ)the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.)
31 “To what then shall I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another,
“‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’
33 For John the Baptist has come (AR)eating no bread and (AS)drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ 34 The Son of Man has come (AT)eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, (AU)a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ 35 Yet (AV)wisdom is justified by all her children.”
A Sinful Woman Forgiven
36 (AW)One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at table. 37 (AX)And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, 38 and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and (AY)wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If (AZ)this man were (BA)a prophet, he (BB)would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.” 40 And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he answered, “Say it, Teacher.”
41 “A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred (BC)denarii, and the other fifty. 42 (BD)When they could not pay, he (BE)cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?” 43 Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” 44 Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; (BF)you gave me no water for my feet, but (BG)she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 (BH)You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to (BI)kiss my feet. 46 (BJ)You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. 47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, (BK)which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” 48 And he said to her, (BL)“Your sins are forgiven.” 49 Then those who were at table with him began to say among[h] themselves, (BM)“Who is this, who even forgives sins?” 50 And he said to the woman, (BN)“Your faith has saved you; (BO)go in peace.”

2 And a certain centurion’s servant (who was dear to him) was sick and ready to die.
3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent the elders of the Jews to Him, asking Him to come and heal his servant.
4 So they came to Jesus and pleaded with Him earnestly, saying “He is worthy. You should do this for him.
5 “For he loves our Nation, and he has built us a synagogue.”
6 Then Jesus went with them. But when He was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself. For I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof.
7 “Therefore I did not think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant shall be whole.
8 “For I am also a man set under authority and have soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go.’ And he goes. And to another, ‘Come.’ And he comes. And to my servant, ‘Do this.’ And he does it.”
9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him. And He turned and said to the people who followed him, “I say to you, I have not found so great faith! No. Not in Israel.”
10 And when those who were sent returned to the house, they found the servant who had been sick, whole.
11 And it happened that the next day, He went into a city called Nain. And many of His disciples went with Him, and a great multitude.
12 Now when He came near to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out - the only begotten son of his mother, who was a widow - and many people of the city were with her.
13 And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her, and said to her, “Do not weep.”
14 And He went and touched the coffin. And those who bore him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, ‘Arise.’”
15 And the dead man sat up and began to speak. And He gave him to his mother.
16 Then a fear came upon them all. And they glorified God, saying, “A great Prophet is risen among us! And God has visited His people!”
17 And this word of Him went forth throughout all Judea, and throughout all the surrounding region.
18 And the disciples of John reported all these things to him.
19 So John called two certain men of his disciples, and sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are You the coming One? Or shall we wait for another?”
20 And when the men had come to Him, they said, “John Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the coming One? Or shall we wait for another?’”
21 And at that time, He cured many of their sicknesses and plagues and evil spirits. And He gave sight freely to many of the blind.
22 And Jesus answered, and said to them, “Go your ways and show John what things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor receive the Gospel.
23 “And whoever does not stumble because of Me is blessed.”
24 And when the messengers of John had departed, He began to speak to the people of John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see - a reed shaken with the wind?
25 “But what did you go out to see - a man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those who are gorgeously appareled, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts.
26 “But what did you go forth to see - a Prophet? ‘Yes’, I say to you, ‘and greater than a Prophet.’
27 “This is he of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before your face, who shall prepare Your way before You.’
28 “For I say to you there is no greater Prophet than John among those who are born of women. Nevertheless, whoever is the least in the Kingdom of God, is greater than him.”
29 Then all the people who heard, and the tax collectors, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
30 But the Pharisees and the expounders of the Law despised the counsel of God against themselves and were not baptized by him.
31 And the Lord said, “To what shall I liken the men of this generation? And what are they like?
32 “They are like little children sitting in the marketplace, crying one to another, saying, ‘We have played the flute for you, and you have not danced. We have mourned for you, and you have not wept.’
33 “For John Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine. And you say, ‘He has a demon.’
34 “The Son of Man has come, and eats, and drinks. And you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
35 “But wisdom is justified by all her children.”
36 And one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went into the Pharisee’s house and sat down at table.
37 And behold, a woman in the city (who was a sinner), when she knew that Jesus sat at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought a box of ointment.
38 And she stood behind him, weeping at his feet. And she began to wash his feet with her tears. And she wiped them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee who had asked Him, saw it, he spoke to himself, saying, “If this man were a Prophet, He would surely have known who and what kind of woman this is who touches Him. For she is a sinner.”
40 And Jesus answered, and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he said, “Master, say on.”
41 “There was a certain lender who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42 “When they had nothing with which to pay, he forgave them both. Therefore, tell Me, which of them will love him most?”
43 Simon answered, and said, “I suppose the one to whom he forgave most.” And He said to him, “You have judged rightly.”
44 Then he turned to the woman, and said to Simon, “See this woman? I entered into your house and you gave Me no water for my feet. But she has washed my feet with tears and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 “You gave Me no kiss. But since the time I came in, she has not ceased to kiss My feet.
46 “You did not anoint My head with oil. But she has anointed My feet with ointment.
47 “Therefore I say to you her many sins are forgiven. For she has loved much. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.”
48 And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49 And those who sat at table with Him began to say among themselves, “Who is this Who even forgives sins?”
50 And He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”
