Tentación de Jesús(A)
4 Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, volvió del Jordán y fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto. 2 Allí estuvo cuarenta días y fue tentado por el diablo. No comió nada durante esos días, pasados los cuales tuvo hambre.
3 —Si eres el Hijo de Dios —propuso el diablo—, ordénale a esta piedra que se convierta en pan.
4 Jesús respondió:
—Escrito está: “No solo de pan vive el hombre”.[a]
5 Entonces el diablo lo llevó a un lugar alto y le mostró en un instante todos los reinos del mundo.
6 —Sobre estos reinos y todo su esplendor —le dijo—, te daré la autoridad, porque a mí me ha sido entregada y puedo dársela a quien yo quiera. 7 Así que, si me adoras, todo será tuyo.
8 Jesús contestó:
—Escrito está: “Adora al Señor tu Dios y sírvele solamente a él”.[b]
9 Luego el diablo lo llevó a Jerusalén e hizo que se pusiera de pie sobre la parte más alta del Templo y le dijo:
—Si eres el Hijo de Dios, tírate abajo desde aquí. 10 Pues escrito está:
»“Ordenará que sus ángeles te protejan con sumo cuidado.
11 En sus manos te sostendrán
para que no tropieces con piedra alguna”.[c]
12 —Está dicho: “No pongas a prueba al Señor tu Dios”[d] —respondió Jesús.
13 Así que el diablo, habiendo agotado todo recurso de tentación, lo dejó hasta otra oportunidad.
Rechazan a Jesús en Nazaret
14 Jesús regresó a Galilea en el poder del Espíritu y se extendió su fama por toda aquella región. 15 Enseñaba en las sinagogas y todos lo admiraban.
16 Fue a Nazaret, donde se había criado, y un sábado entró en la sinagoga, como era su costumbre. Se levantó para hacer la lectura 17 y le entregaron el libro del profeta Isaías. Al desenrollarlo, encontró el lugar donde estaba escrito:
18 «El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí,
por cuanto me ha ungido
para anunciar buenas noticias a los pobres.
Me ha enviado a proclamar libertad a los cautivos
y dar vista a los ciegos,
a poner en libertad a los oprimidos,
19 a pregonar el año del favor del Señor».[e]
20 Luego enrolló el libro, se lo devolvió al ayudante y se sentó. Todos los que estaban en la sinagoga lo miraban detenidamente 21 y él comenzó a hablarles: «Hoy se cumple esta Escritura en presencia de ustedes».
22 Todos dieron su aprobación, impresionados por las hermosas palabras[f] que salían de su boca. «¿No es este el hijo de José?», se preguntaban.
23 Jesús continuó: «Seguramente ustedes me van a citar el proverbio: “¡Médico, cúrate a ti mismo! Haz aquí en tu tierra lo que hemos oído que hiciste en Capernaúm”. 24 Pues bien, les aseguro que a ningún profeta lo aceptan en su propia tierra. 25 No cabe duda de que en tiempos de Elías, cuando el cielo se cerró por tres años y medio, de manera que hubo una gran hambre en toda la tierra, muchas viudas vivían en Israel. 26 Sin embargo, Elías no fue enviado a ninguna de ellas, sino a una viuda de Sarepta, en los alrededores de Sidón. 27 Así mismo, había en Israel muchos con alguna enfermedad de la piel en tiempos del profeta Eliseo, pero ninguno de ellos fue sanado, sino Naamán el sirio».
28 Al oír esto, todos los que estaban en la sinagoga se enfurecieron. 29 Se levantaron, lo expulsaron del pueblo y lo llevaron hasta la cumbre de la colina sobre la que estaba construido el pueblo, para tirarlo por el precipicio. 30 Pero él pasó por en medio de ellos y se fue.
Jesús expulsa a un espíritu maligno(B)
31 Jesús bajó a Capernaúm, un pueblo de Galilea, y el día sábado enseñaba a la gente. 32 Estaban asombrados de su enseñanza, porque hablaba con autoridad.
33 Había en la sinagoga un hombre que estaba poseído por un espíritu maligno, quien gritó con todas sus fuerzas:
34 —¡Ah! ¿Por qué te entrometes, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres tú: ¡el Santo de Dios!
35 —¡Cállate! —lo reprendió Jesús—. ¡Sal de ese hombre!
Entonces el demonio derribó al hombre en medio de la gente y salió de él sin hacerle ningún daño.
36 Todos se asustaron y se decían unos a otros: «¿Qué clase de palabra es esta? ¡Con autoridad y poder da órdenes a los espíritus malignos y salen!». 37 Y su fama se extendió por todo aquel lugar.
Jesús sana a muchos enfermos(C)(D)
38 Cuando Jesús salió de la sinagoga, fue a casa de Simón, cuya suegra estaba enferma con una fiebre muy alta. Pidieron a Jesús que la ayudara, 39 así que se inclinó sobre ella, reprendió a la fiebre y esta se le quitó. Ella se levantó enseguida y comenzó a servirles.
40 Al ponerse el sol, la gente llevó a Jesús todos los que padecían de diversas enfermedades; él puso las manos sobre cada uno de ellos y los sanó. 41 Además, de muchas personas salían demonios que gritaban: «¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!». Pero él los reprendía y no los dejaba hablar porque sabían que él era el Cristo.
42 Cuando amaneció, Jesús salió y se fue a un lugar solitario. La gente andaba buscándolo y, cuando llegaron adonde él estaba, procuraban detenerlo para que no se fuera. 43 Pero él les dijo: «Es preciso que anuncie también a los demás pueblos las buenas noticias del reino de Dios, porque para esto fui enviado».
44 Y siguió predicando en las sinagogas de Judea.[g]

4 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,
34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.
43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

4 En Jesús sneri aftur frá Jórdan, fullur af heilögum anda. Leiddi andinn hann um óbyggðina
2 fjörutíu daga, en djöfullinn freistaði hans. Ekki neytti hann neins þá daga, og er þeir voru liðnir, var hann hungraður.
3 En djöfullinn sagði við hann: "Ef þú ert sonur Guðs, þá bjóð þú steini þessum, að hann verði að brauði."
4 Og Jesús svaraði honum: "Ritað er: ,Eigi lifir maðurinn á einu saman brauði."`
5 Þá fór hann með hann upp og sýndi honum á augabragði öll ríki veraldar.
6 Og djöfullinn sagði við hann: "Þér mun ég gefa allt þetta veldi og dýrð þess, því að mér er það í hendur fengið, og ég get gefið það hverjum sem ég vil.
7 Ef þú fellur fram og tilbiður mig, skal það allt verða þitt."
8 Jesús svaraði honum: "Ritað er: Drottin, Guð þinn, skalt þú tilbiðja og þjóna honum einum."
9 Þá fór hann með hann til Jerúsalem, setti hann á brún musterisins og sagði við hann: "Ef þú ert sonur Guðs, þá kasta þér hér ofan,
10 því að ritað er: Hann mun fela englum sínum að gæta þín
11 og: þeir munu bera þig á höndum sér, að þú steytir ekki fót þinn við steini."
12 Jesús svaraði honum: "Sagt hefur verið: ,Ekki skalt þú freista Drottins, Guðs þíns."`
13 Og er djöfullinn hafði lokið allri freistni, vék hann frá honum að sinni.
14 En Jesús sneri aftur til Galíleu í krafti andans, og fóru fregnir af honum um allt nágrennið.
15 Hann kenndi í samkundum þeirra, og lofuðu hann allir.
16 Hann kom til Nasaret, þar sem hann var alinn upp, og fór að vanda sínum á hvíldardegi í samkunduna og stóð upp til að lesa.
17 Var honum fengin bók Jesaja spámanns. Hann lauk upp bókinni og fann staðinn, þar sem ritað er:
18 Andi Drottins er yfir mér, af því að hann hefur smurt mig. Hann hefur sent mig til að flytja fátækum gleðilegan boðskap, boða bandingjum lausn og blindum sýn, láta þjáða lausa
19 og kunngjöra náðarár Drottins.
20 Síðan lukti hann aftur bókinni, fékk hana þjóninum og settist niður, en augu allra í samkundunni hvíldu á honum.
21 Hann tók þá að tala til þeirra: "Í dag hefur rætst þessi ritning í áheyrn yðar."
22 Og allir lofuðu hann og undruðust þau hugnæmu orð, sem fram gengu af munni hans, og sögðu: "Er hann ekki sonur Jósefs?"
23 En hann sagði við þá: "Eflaust munuð þér minna mig á orðtakið: ,Læknir, lækna sjálfan þig!` Vér höfum heyrt um allt, sem gjörst hefur í Kapernaum. Gjör nú hið sama hér í ættborg þinni."
24 Enn sagði hann: "Sannlega segi ég yður, engum spámanni er vel tekið í landi sínu.
25 En satt segi ég yður, að margar voru ekkjur í Ísrael á dögum Elía, þegar himinninn var luktur í þrjú ár og sex mánuði, og mikið hungur í öllu landinu,
26 og þó var Elía til engrar þeirra sendur, heldur aðeins til ekkju í Sarepta í Sídonlandi.
27 Og margir voru líkþráir í Ísrael á dögum Elísa spámanns, og enginn þeirra var hreinsaður, heldur aðeins Naaman Sýrlendingur."
28 Allir í samkunduhúsinu fylltust reiði, er þeir heyrðu þetta,
29 spruttu upp, hröktu hann út úr borginni og fóru með hann fram á brún fjalls þess, sem borg þeirra var reist á, til þess að hrinda honum þar ofan.
30 En hann gekk gegnum miðja mannþröngina og fór leiðar sinnar.
31 Hann kom nú ofan til Kapernaum, borgar í Galíleu, og kenndi þeim á hvíldardegi.
32 Undruðust menn mjög kenningu hans, því að vald fylgdi orðum hans.
33 Í samkunduhúsinu var maður nokkur, er haldinn var óhreinum, illum anda. Hann æpti hárri röddu:
34 "Æ, hvað vilt þú oss, Jesús frá Nasaret? Ert þú kominn að tortíma oss? Ég veit, hver þú ert, hinn heilagi Guðs."
35 Jesús hastaði þá á hann og mælti: "Þegi þú, og far út af honum." En illi andinn slengdi honum fram fyrir þá og fór út af honum, en varð honum ekki að meini.
36 Felmtri sló á alla, og sögðu þeir hver við annan: "Hvaða orð er þetta? Með valdi og krafti skipar hann óhreinum öndum, og þeir fara."
37 Og orðstír hans barst út til allra staða þar í grennd.
38 Úr samkundunni fór hann í hús Símonar. En tengdamóðir Símonar var altekin sótthita, og báðu þeir hann að hjálpa henni.
39 Hann gekk að, laut yfir hana og hastaði á sótthitann, og fór hann úr henni. En hún reis jafnskjótt á fætur og gekk þeim fyrir beina.
40 Um sólsetur komu allir þeir, er höfðu á sínum vegum sjúklinga haldna ýmsum sjúkdómum, og færðu þá til hans. En hann lagði hendur yfir hvern þeirra og læknaði þá.
41 Þá fóru og illir andar út af mörgum og æptu: "Þú ert sonur Guðs." En hann hastaði á þá og bannaði þeim að tala, því að þeir vissu, að hann var Kristur.
42 Þegar dagur rann, gekk hann burt á óbyggðan stað, en mannfjöldinn leitaði hans. Þeir fundu hann og vildu aftra því, að hann færi frá þeim.
43 En hann sagði við þá: "Mér ber og að flytja hinum borgunum fagnaðarerindið um Guðs ríki, því að til þess var ég sendur."
44 Og hann prédikaði í samkundunum í Júdeu.
