Sa Harapan ni Pilato(A)
23 Tumayo ang buong Kataas-taasang Kapulungan ng mga Judio at dinala si Jesus kay Pilato. 2 Siya ay pinaratangan nila ng ganito, “Napatunayan po namin na inililigaw ng taong ito ang aming mga kababayan at pinagbabawalan niyang magbayad ng buwis sa Emperador. Sinasabi pa niyang siya raw ang Cristo, na isang hari.”
3 Tinanong siya ni Pilato, “Ikaw nga ba ang Hari ng mga Judio?”
“Ikaw na ang may sabi,” tugon ni Jesus.
4 Sinabi ni Pilato sa mga punong pari at sa mga tao, “Wala akong makitang kasalanan sa taong ito.”
5 Ngunit iginiit nila, “Sa kanyang pagtuturo ay inuudyukan niyang maghimagsik ang mga taga-Judea. Nagsimula siya sa Galilea at ngayo'y narito na.”
Sa Harapan ni Herodes
6 Nang marinig ito ni Pilato, itinanong niya kung si Jesus ay taga-Galilea nga. 7 At nang malaman niyang si Jesus ay sakop ni Haring Herodes, ipinadala niya si Jesus kay Herodes, na nagkataon namang nasa Jerusalem nang mga araw na iyon. 8 Tuwang-tuwa si Herodes nang makita niya si Jesus. Matagal na niyang ibig makita ito sapagkat marami siyang nababalitaan tungkol dito. Umaasa si Herodes na gagawa si Jesus ng ilang himala, at nais niyang makita iyon. 9 Marami siyang itinanong kay Jesus, ngunit hindi ito sumagot kahit minsan.
10 Samantala, ang mga punong pari at ang mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan ay nakatayo doon at walang pakundangang pinaparatangan si Jesus. 11 Siya'y hinamak at tinuya ni Herodes at ng mga kawal nito. Siya ay dinamitan nila ng magarang damit, at ipinabalik siya kay Pilato. 12 At nang araw ding iyon, naging magkaibigan sina Herodes at Pilato na dati'y magkagalit.
Hinatulang Mamatay si Jesus(B)
13 Ipinatawag ni Pilato ang mga punong pari, ang mga pinuno ng bayan at ang mga tao. 14 Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Isinakdal ninyo sa akin ang taong ito sa paratang na inililigaw niya ang mga taong bayan. Siniyasat ko siya sa harap ninyo at napatunayan kong walang katotohanan ang mga paratang ninyo sa kanya. 15 Gayundin si Herodes, kaya ipinabalik niya sa atin ang taong ito. Wala siyang ginawang karapat-dapat para sa hatol na kamatayan. 16 Ipahahagupit ko na lamang siya at pagkatapos ay aking palalayain.” [17 Tuwing Pista ng Paskwa, kinakailangang magpalaya si Pilato ng isang bilanggong mapipili ng taong-bayan.][a]
18 Subalit sabay-sabay na sumigaw ang mga tao, “Patayin ang taong iyan! Palayain si Barabbas!” 19 Si Barabbas ay nabilanggo dahil sa paghihimagsik na pinangunahan nito sa lungsod, at dahil na rin sa salang pagpatay.
20 Sa pagnanais na mapalaya si Jesus, minsan pang nagsalita sa kanila si Pilato, 21 ngunit sumigaw ang mga tao, “Ipako siya sa krus! Ipako siya sa krus!”
22 Ikatlong ulit na sinabi sa kanila ni Pilato, “Bakit, ano ba ang ginawa niyang masama? Wala akong makitang dahilan upang siya'y hatulan ng kamatayan. Kaya't ipahahagupit ko siya at pagkatapos ay palalayain.”
23 Ngunit lalo nilang ipinagsigawan na si Jesus ay dapat ipako sa krus. Nanaig ang kanilang sigaw 24 kaya't ipinasya ni Pilato na pagbigyan ang kanilang hinihingi. 25 Ang taong hiningi nila, na nabilanggo dahil sa paghihimagsik at pagpatay, ay pinalaya niya at ibinigay niya si Jesus sa kanila upang gawin ang kanilang kagustuhan.
Si Jesus ay Ipinako sa Krus(C)
26 Si Jesus ay dinala ng mga kawal. Nasalubong nila sa daan si Simon na taga-Cirene na noon ay galing sa bukid. Pinigil nila ito at ipinapasan dito ang krus habang pinapasunod kay Jesus.
27 Sinusundan si Jesus ng maraming tao, kabilang ang ilang babaing nag-iiyakan at tumatangis dahil sa kanya. 28 Nilingon sila ni Jesus at sinabi, “Mga kababaihan ng Jerusalem, huwag ninyo akong iyakan. Ang tangisan ninyo'y ang inyong sarili at ang inyong mga anak. 29 Tandaan ninyo, darating ang mga araw na sasabihin nila, ‘Pinagpala ang mga baog, ang mga sinapupunang hindi nagdalang-tao, at ang mga dibdib na hindi nagpasuso.’ 30 Sa(D) mga araw na iyo'y sasabihin ng mga tao sa mga bundok, ‘Gumuho kayo sa amin!’ at sa mga burol, ‘Tabunan ninyo kami!’ 31 Sapagkat kung ganito ang ginagawa sa kahoy na sariwa, ano naman kaya ang mangyayari sa kahoy na tuyo?”
32 May dalawa pang kriminal na inilabas ang mga kawal upang pataying kasama ni Jesus. 33 Nang dumating sila sa isang bundok na tinatawag na Bungo, ipinako nila si Jesus sa krus. Ipinako rin ang dalawang kriminal, isa sa kanyang kanan at isa sa kaliwa. [34 Sinabi(E) ni Jesus, “Ama, patawarin mo sila sapagkat hindi nila nalalaman ang kanilang ginagawa.”][b]
Nagpalabunutan ang mga kawal upang paghati-hatian ang kasuotan niya. 35 Ang(F) mga tao nama'y nakatayo roon at nanonood, habang si Jesus ay kinukutya ng mga pinuno ng bayan. Sinabi nila, “Iniligtas niya ang iba; iligtas niya ngayon ang kanyang sarili kung siya nga ang Cristo na hinirang ng Diyos!”
36 Nilait(G) din siya ng mga kawal. Nilapitan siya ng isa at inalok ng maasim na alak, 37 kasabay ng ganitong panunuya, “Kung ikaw nga ang Hari ng mga Judio, iligtas mo ang iyong sarili.”
38 Mayroon ding nakasulat sa kanyang ulunan [sa wikang Griego, Latin at Hebreo],[c] “Ito ang Hari ng mga Judio.”
39 Tinuya rin siya ng isa sa mga salaring nakapako sa tabi niya, “Hindi ba ikaw ang Cristo? Iligtas mo ang iyong sarili at pati na rin kami.”
40 Ngunit pinagsabihan naman ito ng kanyang kasama, “Wala ka na bang takot sa Diyos? Ikaw ay pinaparusahan ding tulad niya! 41 Tama lamang na tayo'y parusahan nang ganito dahil sa ating mga ginawa; ngunit ang taong ito'y walang ginawang masama.” 42 At sinabi pa nito, “Jesus, alalahanin mo ako kapag naghahari ka na.”
43 Sumagot si Jesus, “Sinasabi ko sa iyo, isasama kita ngayon sa Paraiso.”
Ang Pagkamatay ni Jesus(H)
44 Nang magtatanghaling-tapat na, hanggang sa ikatlo ng hapon, nagdilim sa buong lupain. 45 Nawalan(I) ng liwanag ang araw at ang tabing ng Templo'y napunit sa gitna. 46 Sumigaw(J) nang malakas si Jesus, “Ama, sa mga kamay mo'y ipinagkakatiwala ko ang aking espiritu!” At pagkasabi nito, nalagot ang kanyang hininga.
47 Nang makita ng kapitan ng mga kawal ang nangyari, siya'y nagpuri sa Diyos na sinasabi, “Tunay ngang matuwid ang taong ito!”
48 Maraming tao ang nagkakatipon doon at nanonood. Nang makita nila ang mga nangyari, umuwi silang dinadagukan ang kanilang dibdib dahil sa lungkot. 49 Nakatayo(K) naman sa di-kalayuan ang mga kasamahan ni Jesus, pati ang mga babaing sumama sa kanya mula sa Galilea. Pinagmasdan nila ang mga pangyayaring ito.
Ang Paglilibing kay Jesus(L)
50-51 May isang lalaki roon na ang pangala'y Jose. Siya'y taga-Arimatea, isang bayan sa Judea. Mabuti at matuwid ang taong ito, at isa siya sa mga naghihintay sa kaharian ng Diyos. Kahit na siya'y kagawad ng Kapulungan, hindi siya sang-ayon sa kanilang ginawa kay Jesus. 52 Nagpunta siya kay Pilato at hiningi ang bangkay ni Jesus. 53 Ibinabâ niya ang bangkay, binalot sa telang lino at inilagay sa isang libingang inuka sa bato na hindi pa napaglilibingan. 54 Araw noon ng Paghahanda at magsisimula na ang Araw ng Pamamahinga.
55 Sumunod kay Jose ang mga babaing sumama kay Jesus mula pa sa Galilea. Nakita nila ang libingan at ang pagkakalagay doon ng bangkay ni Jesus. 56 Pagkatapos,(M) umuwi sila at naghanda ng mga pabango at mira.
Pagsapit ng Araw ng Pamamahinga, nangilin sila ayon sa Kautusan.

23 Allora tutta l'assemblea si alzò e lo condusse da Pilato.
2 E cominciarono ad accusarlo, dicendo: «Noi abbiamo sorpreso costui che sovvertiva la nazione e proibiva di dare i tributi a Cesare, affermando di essere un re, il Cristo».
3 Allora Pilato lo interrogò, dicendo: «Sei tu il re dei Giudei?». E Gesú gli rispose e disse: «Tu lo dici».
4 Pilato quindi disse ai capi dei sacerdoti e alle turbe: «Io non trovo nessuna colpa in quest'uomo».
5 Ma quelli insistevano, dicendo: «Egli solleva il popolo insegnando per tutta la Giudea, dopo aver cominciato dalla Galilea fin qua».
6 Allora Pilato, avendo udito nominare la Galilea, domandò se quell'uomo fosse Galileo.
7 E, saputo che apparteneva alla giurisdizione di Erode, lo mandò da Erode, che in quei giorni si trovava anch'egli a Gerusalemme.
8 Quando Erode vide Gesú, se ne rallegrò grandemente; da molto tempo infatti desiderava vederlo, perché aveva sentito dire molte cose di lui e sperava di vederlo compiere qualche miracolo.
9 Egli gli rivolse molte domande, ma Gesú non gli rispose nulla.
10 Intanto i capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi stavano là accusandolo con veemenza.
11 Allora Erode, con i suoi soldati, dopo averlo oltraggiato e schernito, lo rivestí di una veste splendida e lo rimandò da Pilato.
12 In quel giorno Erode e Pilato divennero amici, mentre prima erano stati nemici.
13 Allora Pilato, riuniti i capi dei sacerdoti i magistrati e il popolo,
14 disse loro: «Voi mi avete portato quest'uomo, come uno che perverte il popolo; ed ecco, dopo averlo esaminato alla vostra presenza, non ho trovato in lui nessuna delle colpe di cui lo accusate
15 e neppure Erode, perche lo ha rimandato a noi; in realtà egli non ha fatto nulla che meriti la morte.
16 Perciò, dopo averlo fatto flagellare, lo rilascerò».
17 Ora in occasione della festa di Pasqua, il governatore doveva liberare qualcuno.
18 Ma essi tutti insieme gridarono, dicendo: «A morte costui, e liberaci Barabba».
19 Questi era stato incarcerato per una sedizione fatta in città e per omicidio.
20 Perciò Pilato desiderando liberare Gesú parlò loro di nuovo.
21 Ma essi gridavano, dicendo: «Crocifiggilo, crocifiggilo».
22 Per la terza volta, egli disse loro: «Ma che male ha fatto costui? Io non ho trovato in lui alcuna colpa che meriti la morte. Perciò, dopo averlo fatto flagellare, lo rilascerò».
23 Ma quelli insistevano con grandi grida, chiedendo che fosse crocifisso, e le loro grida e quelle dei capi dei sacerdoti finirono per prevalere.
24 Pilato allora decise che fosse fatto ciò che chiedevano.
25 E rilasciò loro colui che era stato incarcerato per sedizione e per omicidio e che essi avevano richiesto; e consegnò Gesú alla loro volontà.
26 Mentre lo conducevano via, presero un certo Simone di Cirenea che veniva dai campi, e gli misero addosso la croce, perché la portasse dietro a Gesú.
27 Or lo seguiva una grande folla di popolo e di donne, che facevano cordoglio e lamenti su di lui.
28 Ma Gesú. voltandosi verso di loro disse: «Figlie di Gerusalemme, non piangete per me, ma piangete per voi stesse e per i vostri figli.
29 Perché ecco, verranno i giorni in cui si dirà: "Beate le sterili e beati i grembi che non hanno partorito e le mammelle che non hanno allattato!".
30 Allora cominceranno a dire ai monti: "Cadeteci addosso" e alle colline: "Copriteci"
31 Perché, se tali cose si fanno al legno verde, che cosa sarà fatto al legno secco?».
32 Or venivano condotti con lui anche due malfattori per essere messi a morte.
33 E quando giunsero al luogo, detto del Teschio, là crocifissero lui e i malfattori, l'uno a destra e l'altro a sinistra.
34 E Gesú diceva: «Padre perdona loro perché non sanno quello che fanno». Poi, spartite le sue vesti, le tirarono a sorte.
35 E il popolo stava là a guardare, ed anche i magistrati col popolo lo beffavano, dicendo: «Egli ha salvati gli altri, salvi se stesso se veramente egli è il Cristo. l'eletto di Dio».
36 Anche i soldati lo schernivano, accostandosi e presentandogli dell'aceto.
37 e dicendo: «Se tu sei il re dei Giudei, salva te stesso».
38 Sopra il suo capo, inoltre vi era una scritta, in caratteri greci, latini ed ebraici: "COSTUI E IL RE DEI GIUDEI".
39 Or uno dei malfattori appesi lo ingiuriava, dicendo: «Se tu sei il Cristo, salva te stesso e noi».
40 Ma l'altro, rispondendo, lo sgridava dicendo: «Non hai neppure timore di Dio, trovandoti sotto la medesima condanna?
41 Noi in realtà siamo giustamente condannati, perché riceviamo la dovuta pena dei nostri misfatti, ma costui non ha commesso alcun male».
42 Poi disse a Gesú: «Signore, ricordati di me quando verrai nel tuo regno».
43 Allora Gesú gli disse: «In verità ti dico: oggi tu sarai con me in paradiso».
44 Era circa l'ora sesta, e si fece buio su tutto il paese fino all'ora nona.
45 Il sole si oscurò e la cortina del tempio si squarciò in mezzo.
46 E Gesú, gridando con gran voce, disse: «Padre, nelle tue mani rimetto il mio spirito». E detto questo, rese lo spirito.
47 Allora il centurione, visto quanto era accaduto, glorificò Dio, dicendo: «Veramente quest'uomo era giusto».
48 E tutta la folla che si era radunata per osservare ciò che accadeva, alla vista di questo, se ne tornò a casa battendosi il petto.
49 Ma tutti i suoi conoscenti e le donne che l'avevano seguito dalla Galilea se ne stavano a distanza, osservando queste cose.
50 Or vi era un uomo di nome Giuseppe, che era membro del sinedrio, uomo giusto e buono,
51 il quale non aveva acconsentito alla deliberazione e all'operato degli altri. Egli era di Arimatea, città dei Giudei, e aspettava anch'egli il regno di Dio.
52 Costui si presentò a Pilato e chiese il corpo di Gesú.
53 E, dopo averlo tirato giú dalla croce, lo avvolse in un lenzuolo e lo mise in un sepolcro scavato nella roccia, dove nessuno era ancora stato sepolto.
54 Era il giorno della Preparazione, e il sabato stava per cominciare.
55 Le donne, che erano venute con Gesú dalla Galilea seguendolo da vicino osservarono il sepolcro e come vi era stato deposto il corpo di Gesú;
56 poi esse tornarono a casa e prepararono gli aromi e gli unguenti, e durante il sabato si riposarono, secondo il comandamento.

King James Version
23 And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.
7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.
24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews.
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
