Zaqueo, el recaudador de impuestos
19 Jesús llegó a Jericó y comenzó a atravesar la ciudad. 2 Resulta que había allí un hombre llamado Zaqueo, jefe de los recaudadores de impuestos, que era muy rico. 3 Estaba tratando de ver quién era Jesús, pero la multitud se lo impedía, pues era de baja estatura. 4 Por eso se adelantó corriendo y se subió a un árbol sicómoro para poder verlo, ya que Jesús iba a pasar por allí.
5 Llegando al lugar, Jesús miró hacia arriba y le dijo:
―Zaqueo, baja en seguida. Voy a quedarme hoy en tu casa.
6 Así que se apresuró a bajar y, muy contento, recibió a Jesús en su casa.
7 Al ver esto, todos empezaron a murmurar: «Ha ido a hospedarse con un pecador».
8 Pero Zaqueo dijo resueltamente:
―Mira, Señor: Ahora mismo voy a dar a los pobres la mitad de mis bienes y, si en algo he defraudado a alguien, le devolveré cuatro veces la cantidad que sea.
9 ―Hoy ha llegado la salvación a esta casa —le dijo Jesús—, ya que este también es hijo de Abraham. 10 Porque el Hijo del hombre vino a buscar y a salvar lo que se había perdido.
Parábola del dinero
11 Como la gente lo escuchaba, pasó a contarles una parábola, porque estaba cerca de Jerusalén y la gente pensaba que el reino de Dios iba a manifestarse en cualquier momento. 12 Así que les dijo: «Un hombre de la nobleza se fue a un país lejano para ser coronado rey y luego regresar. 13 Llamó a diez de sus siervos y entregó a cada cual una buena cantidad de dinero.[a] Les instruyó: “Haced negocio con este dinero hasta que yo vuelva”. 14 Pero sus súbditos lo odiaban y mandaron tras él una delegación a decir: “No queremos a este por rey”.
15 »A pesar de todo, fue nombrado rey. Cuando regresó a su país, mandó llamar a los siervos a quienes había entregado el dinero, para enterarse de lo que habían ganado. 16 Se presentó el primero y dijo: “Señor, tu dinero[b] ha producido diez veces más”. 17 “¡Hiciste bien, siervo bueno! —le respondió el rey—. Puesto que has sido fiel en tan poca cosa, te doy el gobierno de diez ciudades”. 18 Se presentó el segundo y dijo: “Señor, tu dinero ha producido cinco veces más”. 19 El rey le respondió: “A ti te pongo sobre cinco ciudades”.
20 »Llegó otro siervo y dijo: “Señor, aquí tienes tu dinero; lo he tenido guardado, envuelto en un pañuelo. 21 Es que te tenía miedo, porque eres un hombre muy exigente: tomas lo que no depositaste y cosechas lo que no sembraste”. 22 El rey le contestó: “Siervo malo, con tus propias palabras te voy a juzgar. ¿Así que sabías que soy muy exigente, que tomo lo que no deposité y cosecho lo que no sembré? 23 Entonces, ¿por qué no pusiste mi dinero en el banco, para que al regresar pudiera reclamar los intereses?” 24 Dijo luego a los presentes: “Quitadle el dinero y dádselo al que recibió diez veces más”. 25 “Señor —protestaron—, ¡él ya tiene diez veces más!” 26 El rey contestó: “Os aseguro que a todo el que tiene, se le dará más, pero al que no tiene, se le quitará hasta lo que tiene. 27 Pero, en cuanto a esos enemigos míos que no me querían por rey, traedlos aquí y matadlos delante de mí”».

28 Dicho esto, Jesús siguió adelante, subiendo hacia Jerusalén. 29 Cuando se acercó a Betfagué y a Betania, junto al monte llamado de los Olivos, envió a dos de sus discípulos con este encargo: 30 «Id a la aldea que está enfrente y, al entrar en ella, encontraréis atado un burrito en el que nadie se ha montado. Desatadlo y traedlo aquí. 31 Y, si alguien os pregunta: “¿Por qué lo desatáis?”, decidle: “El Señor lo necesita”».
32 Fueron y lo encontraron tal como él les había dicho. 33 Cuando estaban desatando el burrito, los dueños les preguntaron:
―¿Por qué desatáis el burrito?
34 ―El Señor lo necesita —contestaron.
35 Se lo llevaron, pues, a Jesús. Luego pusieron sus mantos encima del burrito y ayudaron a Jesús a montarse. 36 A medida que avanzaba, la gente tendía sus mantos sobre el camino.
37 Al acercarse él a la bajada del monte de los Olivos, todos los discípulos se entusiasmaron y comenzaron a alabar a Dios por tantos milagros que habían visto. Gritaban:
38 ―¡Bendito el Rey que viene en el nombre del Señor![c]
―¡Paz en el cielo y gloria en las alturas!
39 Algunos de los fariseos que estaban entre la gente reclamaron a Jesús:
―¡Maestro, reprende a tus discípulos!
40 Pero él respondió:
―Os aseguro que, si ellos se callan, gritarán las piedras.
Jesús en el templo(C)
41 Cuando se acercaba a Jerusalén, Jesús vio la ciudad y lloró por ella. 42 Dijo:
―¡Cómo quisiera que hoy supieras lo que te puede traer paz! Pero eso ahora está oculto a tus ojos. 43 Te sobrevendrán días en que tus enemigos levantarán un muro y te rodearán, y te encerrarán por todos lados. 44 Te derribarán a ti y a tus hijos dentro de tus murallas. No dejarán ni una piedra sobre otra, porque no reconociste el tiempo en que Dios vino a salvarte.[d]
45 Luego entró en el templo[e] y comenzó a echar de allí a los que estaban vendiendo. 46 «Escrito está —les dijo—: “Mi casa será casa de oración”;[f] pero vosotros la habéis convertido en “cueva de ladrones”».[g]
47 Todos los días enseñaba en el templo, y los jefes de los sacerdotes, los maestros de la ley y los dirigentes del pueblo procuraban matarlo. 48 Sin embargo, no encontraban la manera de hacerlo, porque todo el pueblo lo escuchaba con gran interés.

Jesus Comes to Zacchaeus’ House
19 Then Jesus entered and passed through (A)Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to (B)see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up [a]and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, [b]make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 So he [c]made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all [d]complained, saying, (C)“He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”
8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the (D)poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by (E)false accusation, (F)I restore fourfold.”

The Parable of the Minas(J)
11 Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because (K)they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. 12 (L)Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten [e]minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ 14 (M)But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’
15 “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. 16 Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ 17 And he said to him, (N)‘Well done, good servant; because you were (O)faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ 18 And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’ 19 Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’
20 “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief. 21 (P)For I feared you, because you are [f]an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 And he said to him, (Q)‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. (R)You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. 23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’
24 “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’ 25 (But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’) 26 ‘For I say to you, (S)that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 27 But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ ”
The Triumphal Entry(T)
28 When He had said this, (U)He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 (V)And it came to pass, when He drew near to [g]Bethphage and (W)Bethany, at the mountain called (X)Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here. 31 And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’ ”
32 So those who were sent went their way and found it just (Y)as He had said to them. 33 But as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, “Why are you loosing the colt?”
34 And they said, “The Lord has need of him.” 35 Then they brought him to Jesus. (Z)And they threw their own clothes on the colt, and they set Jesus on him. 36 And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road.
37 Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to (AA)rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, 38 saying:
(AB)“ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’
(AC)Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
40 But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, (AD)the stones would immediately cry out.”
Jesus Weeps over Jerusalem
41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and (AE)wept over it, 42 saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this (AF)your day, the things that (AG)make for your (AH)peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For days will come upon you when your enemies will (AI)build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, 44 (AJ)and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and (AK)they will not leave in you one stone upon another, (AL)because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
Jesus Cleanses the Temple(AM)
45 (AN)Then He went into the temple and began to drive out those who [h]bought and sold in it, 46 saying to them, “It is written, (AO)‘My house [i]is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a (AP)‘den of thieves.’ ”
47 And He (AQ)was teaching daily in the temple. But (AR)the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people sought to destroy Him, 48 and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to (AS)hear Him.

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

19 Jesús llegó a Jericó y comenzó a cruzar la ciudad. 2 Allí vivía un hombre muy rico llamado Zaqueo, que era jefe de los cobradores de impuestos. 3 Él trataba de ver a Jesús, pero era de baja estatura y había tanta gente que no alcanzaba a verlo. 4 Entonces se adelantó corriendo al lugar por donde Jesús iba a pasar y se subió a un árbol para poder verlo. 5 Cuando Jesús pasaba por ese lugar, miró hacia arriba y le dijo:
―Zaqueo, baja en seguida, porque quiero quedarme hoy en tu casa.
6 Zaqueo se bajó a toda prisa y, muy contento, recibió a Jesús en su casa.
7 Al ver esto, todos empezaron a murmurar:
―Se fue a quedar en la casa de un pecador.
8 Zaqueo se levantó y dijo:
―Señor, voy a dar la mitad de todo lo que tengo a los pobres. Y si a alguien le he robado, le devolveré cuatro veces lo que le robé.
9 Jesús le dijo:
―Hoy, la salvación ha llegado a esta casa, pues este hombre también es uno de los hijos de Abraham. 10 En efecto, el Hijo del hombre vino a buscar y a salvar a los que se habían perdido.
Parábola del dinero
11 Como Jesús ya estaba cerca de Jerusalén y la gente pensaba que el reino de Dios comenzaría en ese momento, Jesús les contó una parábola. 12 Les dijo: «Un hombre de la nobleza fue a que lo coronaran rey en un país lejano y después de eso regresaría. 13 Antes de partir, llamó a diez de sus empleados y le entregó a cada uno una buena cantidad de dinero. Les dijo: “Hagan negocio con este dinero hasta que yo vuelva”. 14 Pero la gente de su país lo odiaba y mandaron un grupo de personas tras él para que dijeran: “No queremos que este sea nuestro rey”.
15 »A pesar de todo, fue coronado rey. Cuando regresó a su país, ordenó llamar a los diez empleados a quienes les había entregado dinero, para ver cuánto habían ganado. 16 El primero se presentó y le dijo: “Señor, su dinero ha ganado diez veces más de lo que usted me dejó”. 17 El rey le respondió: “¡Muy bien, eres un buen empleado! Como has sido fiel en lo poco que te entregué, te nombro gobernador de diez ciudades”.
18 »El segundo se presentó y le dijo: “Señor, su dinero ha ganado cinco veces más de lo que usted me dejó”. 19 El rey le respondió: “A ti te nombro gobernador de cinco ciudades”.
20 »Llegó el otro empleado y dijo: “Señor, aquí está su dinero. Lo envolví en un pañuelo y lo guardé. 21 Tenía miedo porque usted es un hombre muy exigente que recoge lo que no depositó y cosecha lo que no sembró”. 22 Entonces el rey le contestó: “Eres un empleado malo. Con tus mismas palabras te voy a juzgar. Si sabías que soy muy exigente, que recojo lo que no deposité y cosecho lo que no sembré, 23 ¿por qué no depositaste mi dinero en el banco, para que cuando yo regresara ganara los intereses?”. 24 Entonces, les dijo a los que estaban allí: “Quítenle el dinero y dénselo al que ganó diez veces más”. 25 Pero, ellos le dijeron: “Señor, pero si él ya tiene diez veces más”. 26 El rey les respondió: “Les aseguro que al que tiene, se le dará más, pero al que no tiene, hasta lo poco que tenga se le quitará. 27 Y a esos enemigos míos que no querían que yo fuera su rey, tráiganlos aquí y mátenlos delante de mí”».
La entrada triunfal
28 Al terminar de decir esto, siguió su camino hacia Jerusalén. 29 Cuando estuvo cerca de Betfagué y Betania, junto al monte de los Olivos, envió a dos de sus discípulos y les dijo: 30 «Vayan a la aldea que está enfrente. Cuando entren, van a encontrar un burrito atado en el que nadie antes se ha montado. Desátenlo y tráiganlo. 31 Si alguien les pregunta por qué lo desatan, díganle: “El Señor lo necesita”».
32 Ellos fueron y lo encontraron tal como él les había dicho. 33 Al estar ellos desatando al burrito, los dueños les preguntaron:
―¿Por qué lo desatan?
34 Ellos contestaron:
―El Señor lo necesita.
35 Después, llevaron al burrito a donde estaba Jesús; pusieron sobre el animal sus mantos y ayudaron a Jesús a montarse. 36 Conforme iba avanzando, la gente extendía sus mantos sobre el camino. 37 Cuando ya estaban cerca de la bajada del monte de los Olivos, todos sus seguidores se llenaron de alegría y comenzaron a alabar a Dios por todos los milagros que habían visto. Y gritaban:
38 ―¡Bendito el rey que viene en el nombre del Señor!
―¡Paz en el cielo y gloria en las alturas!

Todo esto ocurrirá porque no reconociste el tiempo en que Dios vino a salvarte.
45 Cuando llegó al templo, comenzó a echar fuera de allí a los que estaban vendiendo. 46 Les dijo:
―Escrito está: “Mi casa será casa de oración”; pero ustedes la han convertido en “cueva de ladrones”.

11 As they were listening to this, he went on to tell a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. 12 So he said, “A nobleman went to a distant country to get royal power for himself and then return. 13 He summoned ten of his slaves, and gave them ten pounds,[a] and said to them, ‘Do business with these until I come back.’ 14 But the citizens of his country hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to rule over us.’ 15 When he returned, having received royal power, he ordered these slaves, to whom he had given the money, to be summoned so that he might find out what they had gained by trading. 16 The first came forward and said, ‘Lord, your pound has made ten more pounds.’ 17 He said to him, ‘Well done, good slave! Because you have been trustworthy in a very small thing, take charge of ten cities.’ 18 Then the second came, saying, ‘Lord, your pound has made five pounds.’ 19 He said to him, ‘And you, rule over five cities.’ 20 Then the other came, saying, ‘Lord, here is your pound. I wrapped it up in a piece of cloth, 21 for I was afraid of you, because you are a harsh man; you take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 He said to him, ‘I will judge you by your own words, you wicked slave! You knew, did you, that I was a harsh man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow? 23 Why then did you not put my money into the bank? Then when I returned, I could have collected it with interest.’ 24 He said to the bystanders, ‘Take the pound from him and give it to the one who has ten pounds.’ 25 (And they said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten pounds!’) 26 ‘I tell you, to all those who have, more will be given; but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away. 27 But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and slaughter them in my presence.’”
Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem
28 After he had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
29 When he had come near Bethphage and Bethany, at the place called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of the disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village ahead of you, and as you enter it you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say this, ‘The Lord needs it.’” 32 So those who were sent departed and found it as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 They said, “The Lord needs it.” 35 Then they brought it to Jesus; and after throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it. 36 As he rode along, people kept spreading their cloaks on the road. 37 As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, 38 saying,
“Blessed is the king
who comes in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven,
and glory in the highest heaven!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, order your disciples to stop.” 40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out.”
Jesus Weeps over Jerusalem
41 As he came near and saw the city, he wept over it, 42 saying, “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 Indeed, the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up ramparts around you and surround you, and hem you in on every side. 44 They will crush you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave within you one stone upon another; because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”[b]
Jesus Cleanses the Temple
45 Then he entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling things there; 46 and he said, “It is written,
‘My house shall be a house of prayer’;
but you have made it a den of robbers.”
47 Every day he was teaching in the temple. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people kept looking for a way to kill him; 48 but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people were spellbound by what they heard.
