Jesús sana otra vez en día de reposo
14 Y aconteció que cuando Jesús[a] entró en casa de uno de los principales de los fariseos[b] un día de reposo para comer pan, ellos le estaban observando cuidadosamente(A). 2 Y allí[c], frente a Él, estaba un hombre hidrópico. 3 Y dirigiéndose[d] Jesús, a los intérpretes de la ley[e](B) y a los fariseos, les habló diciendo: ¿Es lícito sanar en el día de reposo, o no(C)? 4 Pero ellos guardaron silencio. Y Él, tomándolo de la mano, lo sanó y lo despidió. 5 Y a ellos les dijo: ¿A quién de vosotros se le cae un hijo[f] o un buey en un hoyo en día de reposo, y no lo saca inmediatamente(D)? 6 Y no pudieron responderle a esto(E).
Lección sobre la humildad
7 Y comenzó a referir una parábola a los invitados, cuando advirtió cómo escogían los lugares de honor a la mesa(F), diciéndoles: 8 Cuando seas invitado por alguno a un banquete de bodas, no tomes[g] el lugar de honor(G), no sea que él haya invitado a otro más distinguido que tú, 9 y viniendo el que te invitó a ti y a él, te diga: «Dale el lugar a este»; y entonces, avergonzado(H), tengas que irte al[h] último lugar. 10 Sino que cuando seas invitado, ve y siéntate[i] en el último lugar, para que cuando llegue el que te invitó, te diga: «Amigo, ven más adelante[j](I)»; entonces serás honrado delante de todos los que se sientan[k] a la mesa contigo. 11 Porque todo el que se ensalce, será humillado; y el que se humille será ensalzado(J).
12 Y dijo también al que le había convidado: Cuando ofrezcas una comida o una cena, no llames a tus amigos, ni a tus hermanos, ni a tus parientes, ni a tus vecinos ricos, no sea que ellos a su vez también te conviden y tengas ya tu[l] recompensa. 13 Antes bien, cuando ofrezcas un banquete, llama a pobres, mancos[m], cojos, ciegos, 14 y serás bienaventurado[n], ya que ellos no tienen para recompensarte; pues tú serás recompensado en la resurrección de los justos(K).
Parábola de la gran cena
15 Cuando uno de los que estaban sentados[o] con Él a la mesa oyó esto, le dijo: ¡Bienaventurado[p] todo el que coma pan en el reino de Dios(L)! 16 (M)Pero Él le dijo: Cierto hombre dio una gran cena, e invitó a muchos; 17 y a la hora de la cena envió a su siervo a decir a los que habían sido invitados: «Venid, porque ya todo está preparado». 18 Y todos a una comenzaron a excusarse. El primero le dijo: «He comprado un terreno[q] y necesito ir a verlo; te ruego que me excuses». 19 Y otro dijo: «He comprado cinco yuntas de bueyes y voy a probarlos; te ruego que me excuses». 20 También otro dijo: «Me he casado, y por eso no puedo ir(N)». 21 Cuando el siervo regresó, informó de todo esto a su señor. Entonces, enojado el dueño de la casa, dijo a su siervo: «Sal enseguida por las calles y callejones de la ciudad, y trae acá a los pobres, los mancos[r], los ciegos y los cojos». 22 Y el siervo dijo: «Señor, se ha hecho lo que ordenaste, y todavía hay lugar». 23 Entonces el señor dijo al siervo: «Sal a los caminos y por los cercados, y oblígalos a entrar para que se llene mi casa. 24 Porque os digo que ninguno de aquellos hombres que fueron invitados probará mi cena».
El costo del discipulado
25 Grandes multitudes le acompañaban; y Él, volviéndose, les dijo: 26 Si alguno viene a mí, y no aborrece[s] a su padre y madre, a su mujer e hijos, a sus hermanos y hermanas, y aun hasta su propia vida, no puede ser mi discípulo(O). 27 El que no carga su cruz y viene en pos de mí, no puede ser mi discípulo(P). 28 Porque, ¿quién de vosotros, deseando edificar una torre, no se sienta primero y calcula el costo, para ver si tiene lo suficiente para terminarla? 29 No sea que cuando haya echado los cimientos y no pueda terminar, todos los que lo vean comiencen a burlarse de él, 30 diciendo: «Este hombre comenzó a edificar y no pudo terminar». 31 ¿O qué rey, cuando sale al encuentro de otro rey para la batalla, no se sienta primero y delibera si con diez mil hombres es bastante fuerte como para enfrentarse al que viene contra él con veinte mil(Q)? 32 Y si no, cuando el otro todavía está lejos, le envía una delegación[t] y pide condiciones de paz. 33 Así pues, cualquiera de vosotros que no renuncie a todas sus posesiones, no puede ser mi discípulo(R). 34 Por tanto, buena es la sal, pero si también la sal ha perdido su sabor, ¿con qué será sazonada(S)? 35 No es útil ni para la tierra ni para el muladar; la arrojan fuera. El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga(T).

14 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
2 And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.
3 And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
4 And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;
5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?
6 And they could not answer him again to these things.
7 And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.
8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Luke 14

A Man with Dropsy Healed on the Sabbath
14 Now it happened, as He went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they watched Him closely. 2 And behold, there was a certain man before Him who had dropsy. 3 And Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, (A)“Is it lawful to heal on the [a]Sabbath?”
4 But they kept silent. And He took him and healed him, and let him go. 5 Then He answered them, saying, (B)“Which of you, having a [b]donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?” 6 And they could not answer Him regarding these things.
Take the Lowly Place
7 So He told a parable to those who were invited, when He noted how they chose the best places, saying to them: 8 “When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in the best place, lest one more honorable than you be invited by him; 9 and he who invited you and him come and say to you, ‘Give place to this man,’ and then you begin with shame to take the lowest place. 10 (C)But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you. 11 (D)For whoever exalts himself will be [c]humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
12 Then He also said to him who invited Him, “When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. 13 But when you give a feast, invite (E)the poor, the [d]maimed, the lame, the blind. 14 And you will be (F)blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”
The Parable of the Great Supper(G)
15 Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, he said to Him, (H)“Blessed is he who shall eat [e]bread in the kingdom of God!”
16 (I)Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, 17 and (J)sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ 18 But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ 20 Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ 21 So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Leaving All to Follow Christ(L)
25 Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, 26 (M)“If anyone comes to Me (N)and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, (O)yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And (P)whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28 For (Q)which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— 29 lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’? 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. 33 So likewise, whoever of you (R)does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
Tasteless Salt Is Worthless(S)
34 (T)“Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land nor for the [g]dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Họ chăm chú theo dõi Ngài. 2 Này, ngay trước mặt Ngài có một người bị phù thũng. 3 Ðức Chúa Jesus cất tiếng hỏi các luật sư và những người Pha-ri-si ở đó rằng, “Trong ngày Sa-bát có được phép chữa bịnh hay không?” 4 Nhưng họ đều làm thinh. Ngài đỡ lấy người bịnh, chữa lành, rồi cho người ấy ra về. 5 Ðoạn Ngài nói với họ, “Trong vòng các ngươi, ai có con mình hay bò mình bị rớt xuống giếng trong ngày Sa-bát mà không kéo nó lên ngay chăng?” 6 Không ai có thể trả lời Ngài tiếng nào.
Ðừng Tôn Mình Lên
7 Khi Ngài thấy những người được mời đến dự tiệc đều chọn những chỗ danh dự mà ngồi, Ngài kể cho họ ngụ ngôn này:
8 “Khi các ngươi được mời dự tiệc cưới, đừng tự động ngồi vào chỗ danh dự, kẻo có người nào tôn trọng hơn ngươi được chủ tiệc mời đến, 9 và chủ tiệc, người đã mời ngươi và người khách kia, sẽ đến nói với ngươi, ‘Xin bạn hãy nhường chỗ cho vị này,’ rồi ngươi phải xấu hổ mà đi xuống chỗ cuối chăng. 10 Nhưng khi các ngươi được mời dự tiệc, hãy chọn những chỗ cuối mà ngồi, rồi khi chủ tiệc đến, người ấy có thể nói với ngươi, ‘Bạn ơi, mời bạn lên ngồi trên này.’ Bấy giờ ngươi sẽ được tôn trọng trước mặt những người đang ngồi đồng bàn với mình. 11 Bởi vì ai tôn mình lên sẽ bị hạ xuống, còn ai hạ mình xuống sẽ được tôn lên.”

12 Ngài cũng nói với người mời Ngài đến dự tiệc, “Khi ngươi mời ai dùng bữa trưa hay bữa tối, đừng mời bạn bè, anh em, bà con, hay những láng giềng giàu có của ngươi, kẻo họ cũng mời ngươi lại và như thế ngươi đã được đáp lễ. 13 Nhưng khi ngươi đãi tiệc, hãy mời những người nghèo khó, tàn tật, què quặt, hoặc đui mù. 14 Ngươi sẽ được phước vì họ không có chi để đáp lễ. Còn ngươi sẽ được đền đáp trong ngày những người công chính sống lại.”

16 Ngài nói với ông ấy, “Một người kia đãi một tiệc thật lớn và đã mời nhiều người. 17 Gần đến giờ khai tiệc, ông sai đầy tớ mình đến nói với những người đã được mời rằng, ‘Xin mời đến, vì mọi sự đã sẵn sàng.’ 18 Nhưng mọi người đều đồng loạt kiếu từ. Người thứ nhất nói, ‘Tôi mới mua đám ruộng; tôi phải đi xem nó; xin cho tôi kiếu.’ 19 Người khác nói, ‘Tôi mới mua năm đôi bò; tôi phải đi cày thử chúng; xin cho tôi kiếu.’ 20 Người khác nữa lại nói, ‘Tôi mới cưới vợ, nên tôi không thể đến được.’ 21 Ðầy tớ trở về báo cáo với chủ những điều ấy. 25 Lúc ấy một đoàn đông đi theo Ngài, Ngài quay lại và nói với họ, 26 “Nếu ai đến với Ta mà không yêu Ta hơn[a] cha, mẹ, vợ, con, anh em, chị em, và ngay cả mạng sống của chính mình thì không thể làm môn đồ Ta. 27 Nếu ai không vác thập tự giá mình mà theo Ta thì không thể làm môn đồ Ta.
28 Vì ai trong các ngươi muốn xây một cái tháp mà trước hết không ngồi xuống tính phí tổn, xem có đủ khả năng để hoàn tất công trình xây cất ấy chăng? 29 Nếu không, sau khi xây nền, rồi không thể hoàn tất, khiến ai nấy thấy vậy đều chê cười 30 rằng, ‘Người này đã khởi công xây cất nhưng không đủ sức để hoàn tất.’
31 Hoặc có vua nào kéo quân đi giao chiến với vua khác mà trước hết không ngồi xuống bàn tính, xem mười ngàn quân của mình có thể thắng nổi hai mươi ngàn quân của kẻ sẽ giao chiến với mình chăng? 32 Nếu liệu sức không thắng nổi thì khi vua kia vẫn còn ở xa, hãy sai sứ giả đến cầu hòa.
33 Cũng vậy, ai trong các ngươi không từ bỏ tất cả những gì mình có thì không thể làm môn đồ Ta.”
Muối Mất Mặn
(Mat 5:13; Mác 9:50)
34 “Muối là vật tốt, nhưng nếu muối mất mặn, làm sao để nó mặn lại? 35 Muối ấy không thể dùng để bón đất hay làm phân bón. Người ta phải quăng nó đi. Ai có tai để nghe, hãy lắng nghe.”
