10 Después de esto, el Señor escogió a otros setenta y dos[a] para enviarlos de dos en dos delante de él a todo pueblo y lugar adonde él pensaba ir. 2 «La cosecha es abundante, pero son pocos los obreros —les dijo—. Por tanto, pidan al Señor de la cosecha que envíe obreros a su campo. 3 ¡Vayan ustedes! ¡Presten atención! Porque los envío como corderos en medio de lobos. 4 No lleven monedero ni bolsa ni sandalias; tampoco se detengan a saludar a nadie por el camino.
5 »En cualquier casa que entren, digan primero: “Paz a esta casa”. 6 Si hay allí alguien que promueva la paz, la paz de ustedes reinará en ella; y si no, la paz regresará a ustedes.[b] 7 Quédense en esa casa, coman y beban de lo que ellos tengan, porque el trabajador tiene derecho a su salario. No anden de casa en casa.
8 »Cuando entren en un pueblo y los reciban, coman lo que les sirvan. 9 Sanen a los enfermos que encuentren allí y díganles: “El reino de Dios está cerca de ustedes”. 10 Pero cuando entren en un pueblo donde no los reciban bien, salgan a las plazas y digan: 11 “Aun el polvo de este pueblo, que se nos ha pegado a los pies, nos lo sacudimos en protesta contra ustedes. Pero tengan por seguro que está cerca el reino de Dios”. 12 Les digo que en aquel día será más tolerable el castigo para Sodoma que para ese pueblo.
13 »¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! Si se hubieran hecho en Tiro y en Sidón los milagros que se hicieron en medio de ustedes, ya hace tiempo que se habrían arrepentido con muchos lamentos.[c] 14 Pero en el juicio será más tolerable el castigo para Tiro y Sidón que para ustedes. 15 Y tú, Capernaúm, ¿acaso serás levantada hasta el cielo? No, sino que descenderás hasta los dominios de la muerte.[d]
16 »El que los escucha a ustedes, me escucha a mí; el que los rechaza a ustedes, me rechaza a mí y el que me rechaza a mí, rechaza al que me envió».
17 Cuando los setenta y dos regresaron, dijeron contentos:
—Señor, hasta los demonios se nos someten en tu nombre.
18 —Yo veía a Satanás caer del cielo como un rayo —respondió él—. 19 Sí, les he dado autoridad a ustedes para pisotear serpientes y escorpiones y vencer todo el poder del enemigo; nada les podrá hacer daño. 20 Sin embargo, no se alegren de que puedan someter a los espíritus, sino alégrense de que sus nombres están escritos en el cielo.
21 En aquel momento Jesús, lleno de alegría por el Espíritu Santo, dijo: «Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque habiendo escondido estas cosas de los sabios e instruidos, se las has revelado a los niños. Sí, Padre, porque esa fue tu buena voluntad.
22 »Mi Padre me ha entregado todas las cosas. Nadie sabe quién es el Hijo, sino el Padre; nadie sabe quién es el Padre, sino el Hijo y aquel a quien el Hijo quiera revelarlo».
23 Volviéndose a sus discípulos, les dijo aparte: «¡Dichosos los ojos que ven lo que ustedes ven! 24 Les digo que muchos profetas y reyes quisieron ver lo que ustedes ven, pero no lo vieron; quisieron oír lo que ustedes oyen, pero no lo oyeron».
Parábola del buen samaritano(D)
25 En esto se presentó un experto en la Ley y, para poner a prueba a Jesús, se puso de pie y le hizo esta pregunta:
—Maestro, ¿qué debo hacer para heredar la vida eterna?
26 Jesús respondió:
—¿Qué está escrito en la Ley? ¿Cómo la interpretas tú?
27 Como respuesta el hombre citó:
—“Ama al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con todo tu ser, con todas tus fuerzas y con toda tu mente”,[e] y “Ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo”.[f]
28 —Bien contestado —dijo Jesús—. Haz eso y vivirás.
29 Pero él quería justificarse, así que preguntó a Jesús:
—¿Y quién es mi prójimo?
30 Jesús respondió:
—Bajaba un hombre de Jerusalén a Jericó y cayó en manos de unos ladrones. Le quitaron la ropa, lo golpearon y se fueron, dejándolo medio muerto. 31 Resulta que viajaba por el mismo camino un sacerdote quien, al verlo, se desvió y siguió de largo. 32 Así también llegó a aquel lugar un levita y al verlo, se desvió y siguió de largo. 33 Pero un samaritano que iba de viaje llegó adonde estaba el hombre y viéndolo, se compadeció de él. 34 Se acercó, le curó las heridas con vino y aceite, y se las vendó. Luego lo montó sobre su propia cabalgadura, lo llevó a un alojamiento y lo cuidó. 35 Al día siguiente, sacó dos monedas de plata[g] y se las dio al dueño del alojamiento. “Cuídemelo —le dijo—, y lo que gaste usted de más, se lo pagaré cuando yo vuelva”. 36 ¿Cuál de estos tres piensas que demostró ser el prójimo del que cayó en manos de los ladrones?
37 —El que se compadeció de él —contestó el experto en la Ley.
—Anda entonces y haz tú lo mismo —concluyó Jesús.
En casa de Marta y María
38 Mientras iba de camino con sus discípulos, Jesús entró en una aldea y una mujer llamada Marta lo recibió en su casa. 39 Tenía ella una hermana llamada María que, sentada a los pies del Señor, escuchaba lo que él decía. 40 Marta, por su parte, se sentía abrumada porque tenía mucho que hacer. Así que se acercó a él y dijo:
—Señor, ¿no te importa que mi hermana me haya dejado sirviendo sola? ¡Dile que me ayude!
41 —Marta, Marta —contestó el Señor—, estás inquieta y preocupada por muchas cosas, 42 pero solo una es necesaria.[h] María ha escogido la mejor y nadie se la quitará.

Misión de los setenta
10 Después de estas cosas, el Señor designó también a otros setenta, a quienes envió de dos en dos delante de él a toda ciudad y lugar adonde él había de ir. 2 Y les dijo:
«La mies a la verdad es mucha, pero los obreros pocos; por tanto, rogad al Señor de la mies que envíe obreros a su mies. 3 Id; yo os envío como corderos en medio de lobos. 4 No llevéis bolsa ni alforja ni calzado; y a nadie saludéis por el camino. 5 En cualquier casa donde entréis, primeramente decid: “Paz sea a esta casa.” 6 Si hay allí algún hijo de paz, vuestra paz reposará sobre él; y si no, se volverá a vosotros. 7 Quedaos en aquella misma casa, comiendo y bebiendo lo que os den, porque el obrero es digno de su salario. No os paséis de casa en casa. 8 En cualquier ciudad donde entréis y os reciban, comed lo que os pongan delante 9 y sanad a los enfermos que en ella haya, y decidles: “Se ha acercado a vosotros el reino de Dios.” 10 Pero en cualquier ciudad donde entréis y no os reciban, salid por sus calles y decid: 11 “¡Aun el polvo de vuestra ciudad, que se ha pegado a nuestros pies, lo sacudimos contra vosotros! Pero sabed que el reino de Dios se ha acercado a vosotros.” 12 Os digo que en aquel día será más tolerable el castigo para Sodoma que para aquella ciudad.

13 »¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! que si en Tiro y en Sidón se hubieran hecho los milagros que se han hecho en vosotras, tiempo ha que, sentadas en ceniza y con vestidos ásperos, se habrían arrepentido. 14 Por tanto, en el juicio será más tolerable el castigo para Tiro y Sidón que para vosotras. 15 Y tú, Capernaúm, que hasta los cielos eres levantada, hasta el Hades serás abatida.
16 »El que a vosotros oye, a mí me oye; y el que a vosotros desecha, a mí me desecha; y el que me desecha a mí, desecha al que me envió».
Regreso de los setenta
17 Regresaron los setenta con gozo, diciendo:
—¡Señor, hasta los demonios se nos sujetan en tu nombre!
18 Les dijo:
—Yo veía a Satanás caer del cielo como un rayo. 19 Os doy potestad de pisotear serpientes y escorpiones, y sobre toda fuerza del enemigo, y nada os dañará. 20 Pero no os regocijéis de que los espíritus se os sujetan, sino regocijaos de que vuestros nombres están escritos en los cielos.

21 En aquella misma hora Jesús se regocijó en el Espíritu, y dijo: «Yo te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque escondiste estas cosas de los sabios y entendidos y las has revelado a los niños. Sí, Padre, porque así te agradó.
22 »Todas las cosas me fueron entregadas por mi Padre; y nadie conoce quién es el Hijo, sino el Padre; ni quién es el Padre, sino el Hijo y aquel a quien el Hijo lo quiera revelar.»
23 Y volviéndose a los discípulos, les dijo aparte:
—Bienaventurados los ojos que ven lo que vosotros veis, 24 pues os digo que muchos profetas y reyes desearon ver lo que vosotros veis, y no lo vieron; y oír lo que oís, y no lo oyeron.
El buen samaritano
25 Un intérprete de la Ley se levantó y dijo, para probarlo:
—Maestro, ¿haciendo qué cosa heredaré la vida eterna?
26 Él le dijo:
—¿Qué está escrito en la Ley? ¿Cómo lees?
27 Aquél, respondiendo, dijo:
—Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, con todas tus fuerzas y con toda tu mente; y a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.
28 Le dijo:
—Bien has respondido; haz esto y vivirás.
29 Pero él, queriendo justificarse a sí mismo, dijo a Jesús:
—¿Y quién es mi prójimo?
30 Respondiendo Jesús, dijo:
—Un hombre que descendía de Jerusalén a Jericó cayó en manos de ladrones, los cuales lo despojaron, lo hirieron y se fueron dejándolo medio muerto. 31 Aconteció que descendió un sacerdote por aquel camino, y al verlo pasó de largo. 32 Asimismo un levita, llegando cerca de aquel lugar, al verlo pasó de largo. 33 Pero un samaritano que iba de camino, vino cerca de él y, al verlo, fue movido a misericordia. 34 Acercándose, vendó sus heridas echándoles aceite y vino, lo puso en su cabalgadura, lo llevó al mesón y cuidó de él. 35 Otro día, al partir, sacó dos denarios, los dio al mesonero y le dijo: “Cuídamelo, y todo lo que gastes de más yo te lo pagaré cuando regrese.” 36 ¿Quién, pues, de estos tres te parece que fue el prójimo del que cayó en manos de los ladrones?
37 Él dijo:
—El que usó de misericordia con él.
Entonces Jesús le dijo:
—Ve y haz tú lo mismo.
Jesús visita a Marta y a María
38 Aconteció que, yendo de camino, entró en una aldea, y una mujer llamada Marta lo recibió en su casa. 39 Ésta tenía una hermana que se llamaba María, la cual, sentándose a los pies de Jesús, oía su palabra. 40 Marta, en cambio, se preocupaba con muchos quehaceres y, acercándose, dijo:
—Señor, ¿no te da cuidado que mi hermana me deje servir sola? Dile, pues, que me ayude.
41 Respondiendo Jesús, le dijo:
—Marta, Marta, afanada y turbada estás con muchas cosas. 42 Pero sólo una cosa es necesaria, y María ha escogido la buena parte, la cual no le será quitada.

The Seventy-two Sent Out
10 Now after this (A)the Lord appointed [a]seventy-two (B)others, and sent them (C)in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. 2 And He was saying to them, “(D)The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3 Go; (E)behold, I am sending you out like lambs in the midst of wolves. 4 (F)Carry no money belt, no [b]bag, no sandals, and greet no one along the way. 5 And whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’ 6 And if a [c]man of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him; but if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay in [d]that house, eating and drinking [e]what they provide; for (G)the laborer is deserving of his wages. Do not move from house to house. 8 Whatever city you enter and they receive you, (H)eat what is served to you; 9 and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘(I)The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, 11 ‘(J)Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you; yet [f]be sure of this, that (K)the kingdom of God has come near.’ 12 I say to you, (L)it will be more tolerable on that day for (M)Sodom than for that city.
13 “(N)Woe to you, (O)Chorazin! Woe to you, (P)Bethsaida! For if the [g]miracles that occurred in you had occurred in (Q)Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in [h](R)sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more tolerable for (S)Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you. 15 And you, (T)Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be brought down to Hades!
16 “(U)The one who listens to you listens to Me, and (V)the one who rejects you rejects Me; but the one who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”
The Joyful Results
17 Now the [i]seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even (W)the demons are subject to us [j]in Your name!” 18 And He said to them, “I watched (X)Satan fall from heaven like lightning. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to (Y)walk on snakes and scorpions, and authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. 20 Nevertheless, do not [k]rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that (Z)your names are recorded in heaven.”
21 (AA)At that very [l]time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I [m]praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for doing so was well pleasing in Your sight. 22 (AB)All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and (AC)no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son determines to reveal Him.”
23 (AD)Turning to the disciples, He said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see the things you see; 24 for I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things that you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things that you hear, and did not hear them.”
25 (AE)And behold, a [n](AF)lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? [o]How does it read to you?” 27 And he answered, “(AG)You shall love the Lord your God [p]with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; (AH)do this and you will live.” 29 But wanting (AI)to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
The Good Samaritan
30 Jesus replied and said, “A man was (AJ)going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he encountered robbers, and they stripped him and [q]beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. 31 And by coincidence a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a (AK)Samaritan who was on a journey came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, 34 and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 On the next day he took out two [r]denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return, I will repay you.’ 36 Which of these three do you think [s]proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?” 37 And he said, “The one who showed compassion to him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do [t]the same.”
Martha and Mary
38 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named (AL)Martha welcomed Him into her home. 39 And she had a sister called (AM)Mary, who was also (AN)seated at the Lord’s feet, and was listening to His word. 40 But (AO)Martha was distracted with [u]all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do the serving [v]by myself? Then tell her to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered and said to her, “(AP)Martha, Martha, you are (AQ)worried and distracted by many things; 42 (AR)but only one thing is necessary; for (AS)Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.
13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.
15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.
16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:
24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
