Guérison d’un esclave à Capernaüm
7 Après avoir prononcé toutes ces paroles devant le peuple qui l'écoutait, Jésus entra dans Capernaüm. 2 Un officier romain avait un esclave auquel il était très attaché et qui était malade, sur le point de mourir. 3 Il entendit parler de Jésus et il lui envoya quelques anciens des Juifs pour lui demander de venir guérir son esclave. 4 Ils arrivèrent vers Jésus et le supplièrent avec insistance, disant: «Il mérite que tu lui accordes cela, 5 car il aime notre nation et c'est lui qui a fait construire notre synagogue.» 6 Jésus partit avec eux. Il n'était plus très loin de la maison quand l’officier envoya des amis [vers lui] pour lui dire: «Seigneur, ne prends pas tant de peine, car je ne suis pas digne que tu entres sous mon toit. 7 C'est aussi pour cela que je n’ai pas jugé bon d'aller en personne vers toi. Mais dis un mot et mon serviteur sera guéri. 8 En effet, moi aussi je suis un homme soumis à des supérieurs et j'ai des soldats sous mes ordres; je dis à l'un: ‘Pars!’ et il part, à un autre: ‘Viens!’ et il vient, et à mon esclave: ‘Fais ceci!’ et il le fait.» 9 Lorsque Jésus entendit ces paroles, il admira l’officier et, se tournant vers la foule qui le suivait, il dit: «Je vous le dis, même en Israël je n'ai pas trouvé une aussi grande foi.» 10 De retour à la maison, les personnes envoyées par l’officier trouvèrent l'esclave [qui avait été malade] en bonne santé.
Résurrection à Naïn
11 Le jour suivant, Jésus alla dans une ville appelée Naïn; ses disciples [en assez grand nombre] et une grande foule faisaient route avec lui. 12 Lorsqu'il fut près de la porte de la ville, voici qu'on portait en terre un mort, fils unique de sa mère qui était veuve; beaucoup d’habitants de la ville l'accompagnaient. 13 En voyant la femme, le Seigneur fut rempli de compassion pour elle et lui dit: «Ne pleure pas!» 14 Il s'approcha et toucha le cercueil; ceux qui le portaient s'arrêtèrent. Il dit: «Jeune homme, je te le dis, lève-toi!» 15 Et le mort s'assit et se mit à parler. Jésus le rendit à sa mère. 16 Tous furent saisis de crainte et ils rendaient gloire à Dieu en disant: «Un grand prophète a surgi parmi nous» et: «Dieu a visité son peuple.» 17 Cette déclaration sur Jésus se propagea dans toute la Judée et dans toute la région.
Jean-Baptiste vu par Jésus
18 Jean fut informé de tout cela par ses disciples. 19 Il en appela deux qu'il envoya vers Jésus pour lui dire: «Es-tu celui qui doit venir ou devons-nous en attendre un autre?» 20 Arrivés vers Jésus, ils dirent: «Jean-Baptiste nous a envoyés vers toi pour te demander: ‘Es-tu celui qui doit venir ou devons-nous en attendre un autre?’» 21 A ce moment-là, Jésus guérit de nombreuses personnes de maladies, d'infirmités et d'esprits mauvais et il rendit la vue à bien des aveugles. 22 Puis il leur répondit: «Allez rapporter à Jean ce que vous avez vu et entendu: les aveugles voient, les boiteux marchent, les lépreux sont purifiés, les sourds entendent, les morts ressuscitent, la bonne nouvelle est annoncée aux pauvres[a]. 23 Heureux celui pour qui je ne représenterai pas un obstacle!»
24 Lorsque les messagers de Jean furent partis, Jésus se mit à dire à la foule au sujet de Jean: «Qu'êtes-vous allés voir au désert? Un roseau agité par le vent? 25 Mais qu'êtes-vous allés voir? Un homme habillé de tenues élégantes? Ceux qui portent des tenues somptueuses et qui vivent dans le luxe se trouvent dans les maisons des rois. 26 Qu'êtes-vous donc allés voir? Un prophète? Oui, je vous le dis, et plus qu'un prophète. 27 C'est celui à propos duquel il est écrit: Voici, j'envoie mon messager devant toi pour te préparer le chemin.[b]
28 »Je vous le dis, parmi ceux qui sont nés de femmes, aucun [prophète] n'est plus grand que Jean[-Baptiste]. Cependant, le plus petit dans le royaume de Dieu est plus grand que lui. 29 Tout le peuple qui l'a entendu et même les collecteurs d’impôts ont reconnu la justice de Dieu en se faisant baptiser du baptême de Jean; 30 mais les pharisiens et les professeurs de la loi, en ne se faisant pas baptiser par lui, ont rejeté le plan de Dieu pour eux. 31 A qui donc comparerai-je les hommes de cette génération, à qui ressemblent-ils? 32 Ils ressemblent à des enfants assis sur la place publique, qui se parlent les uns aux autres et disent: ‘Nous vous avons joué de la flûte et vous n'avez pas dansé; nous avons entonné des chants funèbres et vous n'avez pas pleuré.’ 33 En effet, Jean-Baptiste est venu, il ne mange pas de pain et ne boit pas de vin, et vous dites: ‘Il a un démon.’ 34 Le Fils de l'homme est venu, il mange et il boit, et vous dites: ‘C'est un glouton et un buveur, un ami des collecteurs d’impôts et des pécheurs.’ 35 Mais la sagesse a été reconnue juste par tous ses enfants.»
Une femme verse du parfum sur Jésus
36 Un pharisien invita Jésus à manger avec lui. Jésus entra dans la maison du pharisien et se mit à table. 37 Une femme pécheresse qui se trouvait dans la ville apprit qu'il était à table dans la maison du pharisien. Elle apporta un vase plein de parfum 38 et se tint derrière, aux pieds de Jésus. Elle pleurait, et bientôt elle lui mouilla les pieds de ses larmes, puis les essuya avec ses cheveux, les embrassa et versa le parfum sur eux. 39 Quand le pharisien qui avait invité Jésus vit cela, il se dit en lui-même: «Si cet homme était prophète, il saurait qui est celle qui le touche et de quel genre de femme il s'agit, il saurait que c'est une pécheresse.» 40 Jésus prit la parole et lui dit: «Simon, j'ai quelque chose à te dire.» «Maître, parle», répondit-il. 41 «Un créancier avait deux débiteurs: l'un d’eux lui devait 500 pièces d’argent, et l'autre 50. 42 Comme ils n'avaient pas de quoi le rembourser, il leur remit à tous deux leur dette. Lequel des deux l'aimera le plus?» 43 Simon répondit: «Celui, je pense, auquel il a remis la plus grosse somme.» Jésus lui dit: «Tu as bien jugé.» 44 Puis il se tourna vers la femme et dit à Simon: «Tu vois cette femme? Je suis entré dans ta maison et tu ne m'as pas donné d'eau pour me laver les pieds; mais elle, elle les a mouillés de ses larmes et les a essuyés avec ses cheveux. 45 Tu ne m'as pas donné de baiser; mais elle, depuis que je suis entré, elle n'a pas cessé de m'embrasser les pieds. 46 Tu n'as pas versé d'huile sur ma tête; mais elle, elle a versé du parfum sur mes pieds. 47 C'est pourquoi je te le dis, ses nombreux péchés ont été pardonnés, puisqu'elle a beaucoup aimé[c]. Mais celui à qui l'on pardonne peu aime peu.» 48 Et il dit à la femme: «Tes péchés sont pardonnés.» 49 Les invités se mirent à dire en eux-mêmes: «Qui est cet homme qui pardonne même les péchés?» 50 Mais Jésus dit à la femme: «Ta foi t'a sauvée. Pars dans la paix!»

7 Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
17 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.
18 And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things.
19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
23 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
24 And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
25 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.
26 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.
27 This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
29 And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.
31 And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?
32 They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.
33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.
34 The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
35 But wisdom is justified of all her children.
36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

7 Matapos sabihin ni Jesus ang mga ito sa mga tao, pumunta siya sa bayan ng Capernaum. 2 Doon ay may isang kapitang Romano na may aliping mahal sa kanya. May sakit ang aliping ito at nasa bingit ng kamatayan. 3 Nang mabalitaan ng kapitan ang tungkol kay Jesus, nagsugo siya ng ilang mga pinuno ng mga Judio upang pakiusapan si Jesus na dalawin at pagalingin ang alipin. 4 Paglapit ng mga sugo kay Jesus, taimtim silang nakiusap sa kanya at sinabi, “Siya po'y karapat-dapat na pagbigyan ninyo 5 sapagkat mahal niya ang ating bansa. Sa katunayan nga po, ipinagpatayo niya tayo ng isang sinagoga.”
6 Sumama sa kanila si Jesus, ngunit nang malapit na siya sa bahay ay nasalubong niya ang mga kaibigan ng kapitan. Sila ay sinugo ng kapitan upang ipasabi kay Jesus ang ganito: “Ginoo, huwag na po kayong mag-abala. Hindi po ako karapat-dapat na puntahan pa ninyo sa aking tahanan, 7 ni hindi rin po ako karapat-dapat na humarap sa inyo. Ngunit magsalita lamang po kayo at gagaling na ang aking alipin. 8 Ako po ay nasa ilalim ng mga nakakataas sa akin at may nasasakupan naman akong mga kawal. Kapag sinabi ko sa isa, ‘Pumunta ka roon!’ pumupunta siya; at kapag sinabi ko naman po sa isa, ‘Halika!’ siya'y lumalapit. Kapag sinabi ko po sa aking alipin, ‘Gawin mo ito!’ ginagawa niya iyon.”
9 Namangha si Jesus nang marinig ito, kaya't humarap siya sa napakaraming taong sumusunod sa kanya at sinabi, “Kahit na sa Israel ay hindi ako nakakita ng ganito kalaking pananampalataya.”
10 Pagbalik nila sa bahay, naratnan ng mga isinugo na magaling na nga ang alipin.
Muling Binuhay ang Anak ng Isang Biyuda
11 Pagkatapos nito, nagpunta naman si Jesus sa isang bayang tinatawag na Nain. Sumama sa kanya ang mga alagad at ang napakaraming tao. 12 Nang malapit na siya sa pintuan ng bayan, may isang lalaking namatay na dala ng mga tao patungo sa libingan. Ito ay kaisa-isang anak na lalaki ng isang biyuda. Napakaraming tao mula sa bayan ang sumama upang makipaglibing. 13 Nahabag ang Panginoon nang kanyang makita ang ina ng namatay kaya't sinabi niya rito, “Huwag kang umiyak.” 14 Nilapitan niya at hinipo ang kabaong at tumigil ang mga may pasan nito. Sinabi niya, “Binata, sinasabi ko sa iyo, bumangon ka!”
15 Bumangon ang patay at nagsalita; at siya'y ibinigay ni Jesus sa kanyang ina.
16 Natakot ang lahat at sila'y nagpuri sa Diyos. Sabi nila, “Dumating sa atin ang isang dakilang propeta! Dinalaw ng Diyos ang kanyang bayan!”
17 At kumalat sa buong Judea at sa palibot na lupain ang balitang ito tungkol sa ginawa ni Jesus.
Ang mga Sugo ni Juan na Tagapagbautismo(B)
18 Ibinalita kay Juan ng kanyang mga alagad ang lahat ng mga pangyayaring ito. Kaya't tinawag ni Juan ang dalawa sa kanila 19 at pinapunta sa Panginoon[a] upang itanong kung siya na nga ang ipinangakong darating, o kung maghihintay pa sila ng iba. 20 Pagdating doo'y sinabi nila kay Jesus, “Pinapunta po kami dito ni Juan na Tagapagbautismo upang itanong kung kayo na nga ang darating, o maghihintay pa kami ng iba.” 21 Nang oras na iyon, pinagaling ni Jesus ang maraming taong may sakit, may karamdaman at sinasapian ng masasamang espiritu. Maraming mga bulag ang binigyan niya ng paningin. 22 Kaya't(C) sinabi niya sa mga sugo ni Juan, “Bumalik kayo kay Juan at sabihin ninyo sa kanya ang inyong nakita at narinig; nakakakita ang mga bulag, nakakalakad ang mga pilay, gumagaling at lumilinis ang mga ketongin, nakakarinig ang mga bingi, muling nabubuhay ang mga patay, at ipinapangaral sa mga dukha ang Magandang Balita. 23 Pinagpala ang taong hindi nag-aalinlangan sa akin!”
24 Pagkaalis ng mga sugo, nagsalita si Jesus sa mga tao tungkol kay Juan, “Bakit kayo pumunta sa ilang? Ano ang ibig ninyong makita? Isang halamang tambo na inihahapay ng hangin? 25 Ano nga ba ang inyong dinayo roon? Isang taong may magarang damit? Ang mga nagdaramit ng mamahalin at namumuhay sa karangyaan ay nasa palasyo ng mga hari. 26 Ano nga ang inyong dinayo? Isang propeta? Oo. At sinasabi ko sa inyo, siya'y higit pa sa isang propeta. 27 Sapagkat(D) si Juan ang tinutukoy ng kasulatan:
‘Narito, ipinapadala ko ang aking sugo na mauuna sa iyo,
upang ihanda ang iyong daraanan.’
28 Sinasabi ko sa inyo, wala pang isinilang na mas dakila kaysa kanya. Ngunit mas dakila kay Juan ang pinakamababa sa kaharian ng Diyos.”
29 Ang(E) lahat ng mga taong nakarinig sa kanya, pati na ang mga maniningil ng buwis ay nagpuri sa Diyos. Ang mga ito'y binautismuhan ni Juan. 30 Ngunit ang mga Pariseo at ang mga dalubhasa sa Kautusan ay tumanggi sa layunin ng Diyos para sa kanila sapagkat ayaw nilang magpabautismo kay Juan.
31 Sinabi pa ni Jesus, “Kanino ko maihahambing ang mga tao ngayon? Ano ang nakakatulad nila? 32 Ang katulad nila'y mga batang nakaupo sa palengke at sumisigaw sa kanilang mga kalaro,
‘Tinugtugan namin kayo ng plauta, ngunit hindi kayo sumayaw!
Umawit kami ng panaghoy, ngunit hindi kayo umiyak!’
33 Sapagkat nang dumating si Juan na Tagapagbautismo, siya'y nag-aayuno at hindi umiinom ng alak; at ang sabi ninyo, ‘Sinasapian ng demonyo ang taong iyan!’ 34 Nang dumating naman ang Anak ng Tao, siya'y kumakain at umiinom, ngunit sinasabi naman ninyo, ‘Tingnan ninyo ang taong iyan! Matakaw, lasenggo at kaibigan ng mga maniningil ng buwis at ng mga makasalanan!’ 35 Ngunit ang karunungan ng Diyos ay napatutunayang tama sa pamamagitan ng mga tumatanggap nito.”
Binuhusan ng Pabango ang mga Paa ni Jesus
36 Inanyayahan si Jesus ng isa sa mga Pariseo upang makasalo niya. Pumunta naman siya sa bahay nito at dumulog sa hapag. 37 Sa(F) bayang iyon ay may isang babaing makasalanan. Nabalitaan niyang kumakain si Jesus sa bahay ng Pariseo, kaya't nagdala siya ng pabangong nasa sisidlang alabastro. 38 Lumapit siya sa likuran ni Jesus sa gawing paanan. Umiiyak na binasâ niya ng kanyang mga luha ang mga paa ni Jesus. Pinunasan niya ng kanyang sariling buhok, hinalikan, at binuhusan ng pabango ang mga paa nito. 39 Nang ito'y makita ng Pariseong nag-anyaya kay Jesus, nasabi nito sa sarili, “Kung totoong propeta ang taong ito, dapat ay alam niya na ang babaing humahawak sa kanyang paa ay isang makasalanan.”
40 Bilang tugon sa iniisip ni Simon, sinabi ni Jesus, “Simon, may sasabihin ako sa iyo.”
“Ano po iyon, Guro?” sagot niya.
41 Sinabi ni Jesus, “May dalawang taong may utang sa isang nagpapahiram ng pera; limang daang salaping pilak ang inutang ng isa, at limampung salaping pilak naman ang sa ikalawa. 42 Nang hindi sila makabayad, kapwa sila pinatawad. Ngayon, sino kaya sa kanila ang higit na magmamahal sa pinagkautangan?”
43 Sumagot si Simon, “Sa palagay ko po'y ang pinatawad sa mas malaking utang.”
“Tama ang sagot mo,” tugon ni Jesus. 44 Nilingon niya ang babae at sinabi kay Simon, “Nakikita mo ba ang babaing ito? Pumasok ako sa iyong bahay at hindi mo man lamang ako binigyan ng tubig para sa aking mga paa; ngunit hinugasan niya ng luha ang aking mga paa at pinunasan ang mga ito ng sarili niyang buhok. 45 Hindi mo ako hinalikan; ngunit siya, mula nang pumasok ay hindi tumigil ng kahahalik sa aking mga paa. 46 Hindi mo nilagyan ng langis ang aking ulo, subalit binuhusan niya ng pabango ang aking mga paa. 47 Kaya't sinasabi ko sa iyo, malaki ang kanyang pagmamahal sapagkat maraming kasalanan ang pinatawad sa kanya; ngunit ang pinatawad ng kaunti ay kaunti rin ang pagmamahal.”
48 At sinabi niya sa babae, “Pinatawad na ang iyong mga kasalanan.”
49 At ang kanyang mga kasalo sa pagkain ay nagsimulang magtanong sa sarili, “Sino ba itong nangangahas na magpatawad ng kasalanan?”
50 Ngunit sinabi ni Jesus sa babae, “Iniligtas ka ng iyong pananampalataya. Umuwi ka na.”

2 Y el siervo de cierto centurión, a quien este apreciaba mucho[b], estaba enfermo y a punto de morir. 3 Al oír hablar de Jesús, el centurión(C) envió a Él unos ancianos de los judíos, pidiéndole que viniera y salvara[c] a su siervo. 4 Cuando ellos llegaron a Jesús, le rogaron con insistencia, diciendo: El centurión es digno de que le concedas esto; 5 porque él ama a nuestro pueblo[d] y fue él quien nos edificó la sinagoga. 6 Jesús iba con ellos, pero cuando ya no estaba lejos de la casa, el centurión envió a unos amigos, diciéndole: Señor, no te molestes más, porque no soy digno de que entres bajo mi techo; 7 por eso ni siquiera me consideré digno de ir a ti, tan solo di la[e] palabra y mi siervo[f] será sanado. 8 Pues yo también soy hombre puesto bajo autoridad, y tengo soldados bajo mis órdenes; y digo a este: «Ve», y va; y a otro: «Ven», y viene; y a mi siervo: «Haz esto», y lo hace. 9 Al oír esto, Jesús se maravilló de él, y volviéndose, dijo a la multitud que le seguía: Os digo que ni aun en Israel he hallado una fe tan grande(D). 10 Y cuando los que habían sido enviados regresaron a la casa, encontraron sano al siervo.
Jesús resucita al hijo de la viuda de Naín
11 Aconteció poco después[g] que Jesús fue a una ciudad llamada Naín; y sus discípulos iban con Él acompañados por[h] una gran multitud. 12 Y cuando se acercaba a la puerta de la ciudad, he aquí, sacaban fuera a un muerto, hijo único de su madre, y ella era viuda; y un grupo numeroso de la ciudad estaba con ella. 13 Al verla, el Señor(E) tuvo compasión de ella, y le dijo: No llores. 14 Y acercándose, tocó el féretro; y los que lo llevaban se detuvieron. Y Jesús dijo: Joven, a ti te digo: ¡Levántate! 15 El que había muerto se incorporó y comenzó a hablar, y Jesús se lo entregó a su madre. 16 El temor se apoderó de todos(F), y glorificaban a Dios(G), diciendo: Un gran profeta(H) ha surgido entre nosotros, y: Dios ha visitado a su pueblo. 17 Y este dicho que se decía de Él, se divulgó por toda Judea y por toda la región circunvecina(I).
Jesús y los discípulos de Juan
18 (J)Entonces los discípulos de Juan le informaron de todas estas cosas. 19 Y llamando Juan a dos[i] de sus discípulos, los envió al Señor(K), diciendo: ¿Eres tú el que ha de venir, o esperamos a otro[j]? 20 Cuando los hombres llegaron a Él, dijeron: Juan el Bautista nos ha enviado a ti, diciendo: «¿Eres tú el que ha de venir, o esperamos a otro?». 21 En esa misma hora curó a muchos de enfermedades(L) y aflicciones(M), y malos espíritus, y a muchos ciegos les dio la vista. 22 Y respondiendo Él, les dijo: Id y contad a Juan lo que habéis visto y oído: los ciegos reciben la vista, los cojos andan, los leprosos quedan limpios y los sordos oyen, los muertos son resucitados y a los pobres se les anuncia el evangelio(N). 23 Y bienaventurado es el que no se escandaliza de mí.
Jesús habla de Juan el Bautista
24 Cuando los mensajeros de Juan se fueron, Jesús comenzó a hablar a las multitudes acerca de Juan: ¿Qué salisteis a ver en el desierto? ¿Una caña sacudida por el viento? 25 Mas, ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿Un hombre vestido con ropas finas? Mirad, los que visten con esplendor y viven en deleites están en los palacios de los reyes. 26 Pero, ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿Un profeta? Sí, os digo, y uno que es más que un profeta. 27 Este es aquel de quien está escrito:
«He aquí, yo envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz,
quien preparará tu camino delante de ti(O)».
28 Os digo que entre los nacidos de mujer[k], no hay nadie mayor que Juan; sin embargo, el más pequeño en el reino de Dios es mayor que él. 29 Cuando todo el pueblo y los recaudadores de impuestos[l] le oyeron, reconocieron la justicia(P) de Dios[m], siendo bautizados(Q) con el bautismo de Juan(R). 30 Pero los fariseos y los intérpretes de la ley[n](S) rechazaron los propósitos de Dios para con ellos, al no ser bautizados por Juan[o]. 31 ¿A qué, entonces, compararé los hombres de esta generación, y a qué son semejantes? 32 Son semejantes a los muchachos que se sientan en la plaza y se llaman unos a otros, y dicen: «Os tocamos la flauta, y no bailasteis; entonamos endechas, y no llorasteis». 33 Porque ha venido Juan el Bautista, que no come pan, ni bebe vino(T), y vosotros decís: «Tiene un demonio». 34 Ha venido el Hijo del Hombre, que come y bebe, y decís: «Mirad, un hombre glotón y bebedor de vino, amigo de recaudadores de impuestos y de pecadores». 35 Pero[p] la sabiduría es justificada(U) por todos sus hijos.
Jesús perdona a una pecadora
36 Uno de los fariseos le pedía que comiera con él; y entrando en la casa del fariseo, se sentó[q] a la mesa. 37 Y he aquí, había en la ciudad una mujer que era pecadora, y cuando se enteró de que Jesús estaba sentado[r] a la mesa en casa del fariseo, trajo un frasco de alabastro con perfume(V); 38 y poniéndose detrás de Él a sus pies, llorando, comenzó a regar sus pies con lágrimas y los secaba con los cabellos de su cabeza, besaba sus pies y los ungía con el perfume. 39 Pero al ver esto el fariseo que le había invitado, dijo para sí[s]: Si este fuera un profeta[t](W), sabría quién y qué clase de mujer es la que le está tocando, que es una pecadora. 40 Y respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Simón, tengo algo que decirte: Y él dijo*: Di, Maestro. 41 Cierto prestamista tenía dos deudores; uno le debía quinientos denarios[u](X) y el otro cincuenta; 42 y no teniendo ellos con qué pagar(Y), perdonó generosamente a los dos. ¿Cuál de ellos, entonces, le amará más? 43 Simón respondió, y dijo: Supongo que aquel a quien le perdonó más. Y Jesús le dijo: Has juzgado correctamente. 44 Y volviéndose hacia la mujer, le dijo a Simón: ¿Ves esta mujer? Yo entré a tu casa y no me diste agua para los pies(Z), pero ella ha regado mis pies con sus lágrimas y los ha secado con sus cabellos. 45 No me diste beso(AA), pero ella, desde que entré, no ha cesado[v] de besar mis pies. 46 No ungiste mi cabeza con aceite(AB), pero ella ungió mis pies con perfume. 47 Por lo cual te digo que sus pecados, que son muchos, han sido perdonados, porque amó mucho; pero a quien poco se le perdona, poco ama. 48 Y a ella le dijo: Tus pecados han sido perdonados(AC). 49 Los que estaban sentados[w] a la mesa con Él comenzaron a decir entre sí: ¿Quién es este que hasta perdona pecados(AD)? 50 Pero Jesús dijo a la mujer: Tu fe te ha salvado(AE), vete en paz(AF).
