2 où il fut tenté par le diable durant quarante jours. Il ne mangea rien durant ces jours-là, et, quand ils furent passés, il eut faim.
3 Alors le diable lui dit : Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, ordonne donc à cette pierre de se changer en pain.
4 Jésus lui répondit : Il est écrit :
L’homme ne vivra pas seulement de pain[a] .

2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
