The Guilt Offering

7 “‘These are the regulations for the guilt offering,^(A) which is most holy: ²The guilt offering is to be slaughtered in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, and its blood is to be splashed against the sides of the altar. ³All its fat^(B) shall be offered: the fat tail and the fat that covers the internal organs, ⁴both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which is to be removed with the kidneys.^(C) ⁵The priest shall burn them on the altar^(D) as a food offering presented to the Lord. It is a guilt offering. ⁶Any male in a priest’s family may eat it,^(E) but it must be eaten in the sanctuary area; it is most holy.^(F)

Restitution for Wrongs

⁵The Lord said to Moses, ⁶“Say to the Israelites: ‘Any man or woman who wrongs another in any way^[a] and so is unfaithful^(A) to the Lord is guilty^(B) ⁷and must confess^(C) the sin they have committed. They must make full restitution^(D) for the wrong they have done, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the person they have wronged. ⁸But if that person has no close relative to whom restitution can be made for the wrong, the restitution belongs to the Lord and must be given to the priest, along with the ram^(E) with which atonement is made for the wrongdoer.^(F)
