Further Instructions for the Grain Offering

14 “These are the instructions regarding the grain offering. Aaron’s sons must present this offering to the Lord in front of the altar. 15 The priest on duty will take from the grain offering a handful of the choice flour moistened with olive oil, together with all the frankincense. He will burn this representative portion on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. 16 Aaron and his sons may eat the rest of the flour, but it must be baked without yeast and eaten in a sacred place within the courtyard of the Tabernacle.[a] 17 Remember, it must never be prepared with yeast. I have given it to the priests as their share of the special gifts presented to me. Like the sin offering and the guilt offering, it is most holy. 18 Any of Aaron’s male descendants may eat from the special gifts presented to the Lord. This is their permanent right from generation to generation. Anyone or anything that touches these offerings will become holy.”

Procedures for the Ordination Offering

19 Then the Lord said to Moses, 20 “On the day Aaron and his sons are anointed, they must present to the Lord the standard grain offering of two quarts[b] of choice flour, half to be offered in the morning and half to be offered in the evening. 21 It must be carefully mixed with olive oil and cooked on a griddle. Then slice[c] this grain offering and present it as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. 22 In each generation, the high priest[d] who succeeds Aaron must prepare this same offering. It belongs to the Lord and must be burned up completely. This is a permanent law. 23 All such grain offerings of a priest must be burned up entirely. None of it may be eaten.”

Additional Laws for Grain Offerings

14 “‘And this is the regulation of the grain offering. Aaron’s sons shall present it before[a] Yahweh in front of[b] the altar, 15 and he[c] in his fist shall take away from it some of[d] the grain offering’s finely milled flour, and some of[e] its oil and all of the frankincense that is on the grain offering, and he shall turn into smoke its token portion on the altar as an appeasing fragrance to Yahweh. 16 And Aaron and his sons must eat the remainder of it; they must eat it as unleavened bread in a holy place—in the tent of assembly’s courtyard they must eat it. 17 It must not be baked with yeast. I have given it as their share from my offerings made by fire. It is a most holy thing,[f] like the sin offering and like the guilt offering. 18 Every male among Aaron’s sons may eat it as a lasting rule among your generations from the offerings made by fire belonging to[g] Yahweh. Anything that[h] touches them will become holy.’”

19 Then[i] Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 20 “This is the offering of Aaron and his sons that they shall present to Yahweh on the day of his being anointed: a tenth of an[j] ephah of finely milled flour as a perpetual grain offering, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening. 21 It must be made[k] in[l] oil on a flat baking pan; you[m] must bring it well-mixed; you must present pieces of a grain offering’s baked goods[n] as an appeasing fragrance to Yahweh. 22 And the anointed priest taking his place from among his sons must do it. As a lasting rule, it must be turned into smoke totally for Yahweh. 23 And every grain offering of a priest must be a whole burnt offering; it must not be eaten.”
