² “‘If anyone becomes aware that they are guilty—if they unwittingly touch anything ceremonially unclean (whether the carcass of an unclean animal, wild or domestic, or of any unclean creature that moves along the ground)^(A) and they are unaware that they have become unclean,^(B) but then they come to realize their guilt;

³¹ Of all those that move along the ground, these are unclean for you. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean till evening. ³² When one of them dies and falls on something, that article, whatever its use, will be unclean, whether it is made of wood, cloth, hide or sackcloth.^(A) Put it in water; it will be unclean till evening, and then it will be clean. ³³ If one of them falls into a clay pot, everything in it will be unclean, and you must break the pot.^(B)

⁵ or if he touches any crawling thing^(A) that makes him unclean, or any person^(B) who makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be.

⁶ The one who touches any such thing will be unclean^(A) till evening.^(B) He must not eat any of the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.^(C)
