14 “But if you will not listen to me or obey me, 15 but reject my laws, 16 this is what I will do to you: I will punish you with sudden terrors and panic, and with tuberculosis and burning fever; your eyes shall be consumed and your life shall ebb away; you will sow your crops in vain, for your enemies will eat them.

14 “‘But[a] if you do not listen to me and you do not carry out[b] all these commands, 15 and if you reject my statutes and if your inner self[c] abhors my regulations, to not carry out[d] all my commands by your breaking my covenant, 16 I in turn[e] will do this to you: then[f] I will summon onto you horror, the wasting disease, and the fever that wastes eyes and that drains away life; and you shall sow your seed in vain,[g] and your enemies shall eat it.
