²⁴ “Do not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves by all these things. ²⁵ The land has become defiled, so I am punishing it for its sin, and the land will vomit out its inhabitants.^{(A) 26} But you are to keep My statutes and ordinances. You must not commit any of these detestable things—not the native or the foreigner who lives among you. ²⁷ For the men who were in the land prior to you have committed all these detestable things, and the land has become defiled. ²⁸ If you defile the land, it will vomit^(B) you out as it has vomited out the nations that were before you. ²⁹ Any person who does any of these detestable practices must be cut off from his people.

The Fifth Seal

⁹ When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the people^[a] slaughtered because of God’s word and the testimony they had.^{[b](A) 10} They cried out with a loud voice: “Lord,^[c] the One who is holy and true, how long until You judge and avenge our blood from those who live on the earth?” ¹¹ So a white robe was given to each of them, and they were told to rest a little while longer until the number would be completed of their fellow slaves and their brothers, who were going to be killed just as they had been.

¹³ Then the sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades^(A) gave up their dead; all^[a] were judged according to their works. ¹⁴ Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.^(B) This is the second death, the lake of fire.^{[b] 15} And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

The New Creation

21 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth,^(C) for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea no longer existed.^{(D) 2} I also saw the Holy City, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,^(E) prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.^(F)

⁹ The Lord does not delay His promise,^(A) as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any^(B) to perish^(C) but all to come to repentance.^(D)

² In My Father’s house are many dwelling places;^[a] if not, I would have told you. I am going away^(A) to prepare a place for you.
