Then the Lord said to Aaron, “You and your sons are not to drink wine(A) or other fermented drink(B) whenever you go into the tent of meeting, or you will die. This is a lasting ordinance(C) for the generations to come, 10 so that you can distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean,(D) 11 and so you can teach(E) the Israelites all the decrees the Lord has given them through Moses.(F)

Prohibitions against Drinking Wine

Then the Lord told Aaron, “You and your sons with you are not to drink wine—that is, any intoxicating drink—when you enter the Tent of Meeting. That way, you won’t die. This is to be a perpetual statute throughout your generations. 10 You are to differentiate between what’s sacred and common and between what’s unclean and clean. 11 You are to teach the Israelis all the statutes that the Lord commanded you by the authority of Moses.”
