10 2 Nadab and Abihu are burnt. 6 Israel mourneth for them. 9 The Priests are forbidden wine.

But (A)Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censor, and put fire therein, and put incense thereupon, and offered [a]strange fire before the Lord, which he had not commanded them.

Therefore a fire went out from the Lord, and devoured them: so they died before the Lord.

Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be [b]sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified: but Aaron held his peace.

And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan the sons of Uzziel, the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your [c]brethren from before the Sanctuary out of the host.

Then they went, and carried them in their coats out of the host, as Moses had commanded.

After, Moses said unto Aaron and unto Eleazar, and Ithamar his sons, [d]Uncover not your heads, neither rent your clothes, lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, all the house of Israel bewail the burning which the Lord hath [e]kindled.

And go not ye out from the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the Lord is upon you: and they did according to Moses’ commandment.
