The Law of Peace Offerings

‘Now if his offering is a (A)sacrifice of peace offerings, if he is going to offer from the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it (B)without defect before the Lord. And (C)he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and (D)slaughter it at the doorway of the tent of meeting, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood around on the altar. From the sacrifice of the peace offerings he shall then present an offering by fire to the Lord, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [a]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys. Then (E)Aaron’s sons shall offer it up in smoke on the altar (F)on the burnt offering, which is on the wood that is on the fire; (G)it is an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord. But if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord is from the flock, he shall offer it, male or female, (H)without defect. If he is going to offer (I)a lamb for his offering, then he shall offer it (J)before the Lord, and (K)he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and (L)slaughter it in front of the tent of meeting, and Aaron’s sons shall (M)sprinkle its blood around on the altar. From the (N)sacrifice of peace offerings he shall then bring as an offering by fire to the Lord, its fat, the entire fat tail which he shall remove close to the backbone, the fat that covers the entrails, and all the fat that is on the entrails, 10 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [b]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (O)with the kidneys. 11 Then the priest shall offer it up in smoke (P)on the altar as (Q)food, an offering by fire to the Lord.

12 ‘Now if his offering is (R)a goat, then he shall offer it before the Lord, 13 and he shall lay his hand on its head and slaughter it in front of the tent of meeting, and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar. 14 From it he shall present his offering as an offering by fire to the Lord, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 15 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [c]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (S)with the kidneys. 16 The priest shall offer them up in smoke on the altar as food, an offering by fire as a soothing aroma; (T)all fat is the Lords. 17 It is a (U)permanent statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places: you shall not eat any fat (V)or any blood.’”

Offerings of Well-Being

“If the offering is a sacrifice of well-being, if you offer an animal from the herd, whether male or female, you shall offer one without blemish before the Lord.(A) You shall lay your hand on the head of the offering and slaughter it at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall dash the blood against all sides of the altar.(B) You shall offer from the sacrifice of well-being, as an offering by fire[a] to the Lord, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is around the entrails,(C) the two kidneys with the fat that is on them at the loins, and the appendage of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys. Then Aaron’s sons shall turn these into smoke on the altar, with the burnt offering that is on the wood on the fire, as an offering by fire[b] of pleasing odor to the Lord.(D)

“If your offering for a sacrifice of well-being to the Lord is from the flock, male or female, you shall offer one without blemish.(E) If you present a sheep as your offering, you shall bring it before the Lord(F) and lay your hand on the head of the offering. It shall be slaughtered before the tent of meeting, and Aaron’s sons shall dash its blood against all sides of the altar.(G) You shall present its fat from the sacrifice of well-being, as an offering by fire[c] to the Lord: the whole fatty tail, which shall be removed close to the backbone, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is around the entrails, 10 the two kidneys with the fat that is on them at the loins, and the appendage of the liver, which you shall remove with the kidneys.(H) 11 Then the priest shall turn these into smoke on the altar as a food offering by fire[d] to the Lord.(I)

12 “If your offering is a goat, you shall bring it before the Lord 13 and lay your hand on its head; it shall be slaughtered before the tent of meeting, and the sons of Aaron shall dash its blood against all sides of the altar. 14 You shall present as your offering from it, as an offering by fire[e] to the Lord, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is around the entrails, 15 the two kidneys with the fat that is on them at the loins, and the appendage of the liver, which you shall remove with the kidneys. 16 Then the priest shall turn these into smoke on the altar as a food offering by fire[f] for a pleasing odor.

“All fat is the Lord’s.(J) 17 It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations, in all your settlements: you must not eat any fat or any blood.”(K)
