³⁰ I will destroy your high places,^(A) cut down your incense altars^(B) and pile your dead bodies^[a] on the lifeless forms of your idols,^(C) and I will abhor^(D) you. ³¹ I will turn your cities into ruins^(E) and lay waste^(F) your sanctuaries,^(G) and I will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings.^{(H) 32} I myself will lay waste the land,^(I) so that your enemies who live there will be appalled.^{(J) 33} I will scatter^(K) you among the nations^(L) and will draw out my sword^(M) and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste,^(N) and your cities will lie in ruins.^(O)

²⁶ I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses^(A) against you^(B) this day that you will quickly perish^(C) from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed.

⁴⁵ All these curses will come on you. They will pursue you and overtake you^(A) until you are destroyed,^(B) because you did not obey the Lord your God and observe the commands and decrees he gave you.

¹⁵ And God sent an angel^(A) to destroy Jerusalem.^(B) But as the angel was doing so, the Lord saw it and relented^(C) concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was destroying^(D) the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand.” The angel of the Lord was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah^[a] the Jebusite.
