³¹ ‘Do not turn to ^[a](A)mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am Yahweh your God.

⁶ ‘As for the person who turns to ^[a](A)mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.

²⁷ ‘Now a man or a woman ^(A)who is a medium or a ^[a]spiritist shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.’”

¹¹ or one who is an enchanter ^(A)or a medium or a spiritist or one who inquires of the dead.

³ Now ^(A)Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented for him and buried him ^(B)in Ramah, his own city. And Saul had removed from the land those who ^(C)were mediums and spiritists.

⁷ So Saul said to his servants, “Seek for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “Behold, ^(A)there is a woman who is a medium at ^(B)En-dor.”

^6 (A)He even made his son pass through the fire, ^(B)practiced soothsaying and interpreted omens, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much that was evil in the sight of Yahweh provoking Him to anger.

^13 (A)Thus Saul died for his unfaithfulness, which he committed against Yahweh, because of the word of Yahweh which he did not keep; and also ^(B)because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry of it,

¹⁹ Now when they say to you, “^(A)Inquire of the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should not a people ^(B)inquire of their God? Should they ^(C)inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?
