Leviticus 18

18 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the Lord your God.
3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the Lord your God.
5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord.
6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the Lord.
7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.
9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.
10 The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.
11 The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman.
13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister: for she is thy mother's near kinswoman.
14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.
15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's nakedness.
17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.
18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.
19 Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.
20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to defile thyself with her.
21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.
22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:
27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)
28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.
30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God.

18 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘I am the Lord your God. 3 You shall not do what is done in the land of Egypt where you lived, and you shall not do what is done in the land of Canaan where I am bringing you. You shall not follow their statutes (practices, customs). 4 You are to follow My judgments (precepts, ordinances) and keep My statutes and live by them. I am the Lord your God. 5 So you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, by which, if a person keeps them, he shall live; I am the Lord.(A)
6 ‘[a]No one shall approach any blood relative of his [b]to uncover nakedness (have intimate relations). I am the Lord. 7 You shall not uncover the [c]nakedness of your father, that is, the nakedness of your mother. She is your mother. You shall not uncover her nakedness. 8 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife; it is your father’s nakedness. 9 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister, either the daughter of your father or of your mother, whether born at home or born elsewhere. 10 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter; their nakedness you shall not uncover, for they are your own nakedness [that is, your own descendants]. 11 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife’s daughter; born to your father, she is your sister. 12 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s sister; she is your father’s blood relative. 13 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister, for she is your mother’s blood relative. 14 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother’s wife; you shall not approach his wife; she is your aunt. 15 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law; she is your son’s wife. You shall not uncover her nakedness. 16 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is your brother’s nakedness. 17 You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, nor shall you take her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter to uncover their nakedness (have intimate relations with them); they are [her] blood relatives; it is an outrageous offense. 18 You shall not marry a woman in addition to her sister as a rival while she is alive, to uncover her nakedness.
19 ‘Also you shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness during her menstrual impurity and ceremonial uncleanness. 20 You shall not have intimate relations with your neighbor’s wife, to be defiled with her. 21 You shall not give any of your children to offer them [by fire as a sacrifice] to Molech [the god of the Ammonites], nor shall you profane the name of your God [by honoring idols as gods]. I am the Lord. 22 You shall not lie [intimately] with a male as one lies with a female; it is repulsive.(B) 23 You shall not have intimate relations with any animal to be defiled with it; nor shall a woman stand before an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion.
24 ‘Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these the nations which I am casting out before you have become defiled. 25 For the land has become defiled; therefore I have brought its punishment upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. 26 But as for you, you are to keep My statutes and My judgments (precepts) and shall not commit any of these repulsive acts, neither the native-born, nor the stranger who lives temporarily among you 27 (for all these repulsive acts have been done by the men who lived in the land before you, and the land has become defiled); 28 [do none of these things] so that the land will not vomit you out, should you defile it, as it has vomited out the nation which has been before you. 29 For whoever commits any of these repulsive acts, those persons who do so shall be cut off from among their people [excluding them from the atonement made for them]. 30 So keep My command: do not practice any of the repulsive customs which have been practiced before you, so as not to defile yourselves by them; I am the Lord your God.’”

- Leviticus 18:6 This Hebrew euphemism for sexual relations occurs in each verse in the passage.
- Leviticus 18:7 The father’s nakedness is a reference to his wife in her role as his sexual partner, i.e. the nakedness that belongs to him alone by virtue of their marriage (cf 1 Cor 7:4). Otherwise, the literal meaning would refer to intimate relations with the father himself, including homosexuality. The text itself states that this is not the meaning, especially in 20:11a (The man who lies...has uncovered his father’s nakedness).

Yo soy el Señor su Dios(D). 5 Por tanto, guardarán Mis estatutos y Mis leyes, por los cuales el hombre vivirá si los cumple. Yo soy el Señor(E).
6 ”Ninguno de ustedes se acercará a una parienta cercana suya para descubrir su desnudez. Yo soy el Señor. 7 No descubrirás la desnudez de tu padre(F), o la desnudez de tu madre. Es tu madre, no descubrirás su desnudez. 8 No descubrirás la desnudez de la mujer de tu padre; es la desnudez de tu padre(G). 9 La desnudez de tu hermana, sea hija de tu padre o de tu madre, nacida en casa o nacida fuera, su desnudez no descubrirás(H). 10 La desnudez de la hija de tu hijo, o de la hija de tu hija, su desnudez no descubrirás; porque su desnudez es la tuya. 11 La desnudez de la hija de la mujer de tu padre, engendrada de tu padre, su desnudez no descubrirás; tu hermana es. 12 No descubrirás la desnudez de la hermana de tu padre; parienta de tu padre es(I). 13 No descubrirás la desnudez de la hermana de tu madre; parienta de tu madre es. 14 No descubrirás la desnudez del hermano de tu padre; no te acercarás a su mujer(J), tu tía es. 15 No descubrirás la desnudez de tu nuera(K); es mujer de tu hijo, no descubrirás su desnudez. 16 No descubrirás la desnudez de la mujer de tu hermano(L); es la desnudez de tu hermano. 17 No descubrirás la desnudez de una mujer y la de su hija, ni tomarás la hija de su hijo ni la hija de su hija para descubrir su desnudez; son parientas. Es aborrecible[b](M). 18 No tomarás mujer junto con su hermana, para que sea rival suya, descubriendo su desnudez mientras esta viva.
19 ”Y no te acercarás a una mujer(N) para descubrir su desnudez durante su impureza menstrual(O). 20 No te acostarás con la mujer de tu prójimo(P), contaminándote con ella. 21 Tampoco darás hijo tuyo para ofrecerlo a Moloc(Q), ni profanarás el nombre de tu Dios(R). Yo soy el Señor. 22 No te acostarás con varón como los que se acuestan con mujer; es una abominación(S). 23 No tendrás trato sexual con ningún animal, contaminándote con él, ni mujer alguna se pondrá delante de un animal para tener trato sexual con él; es una perversión(T).
24 ”No se contaminen con ninguna de estas cosas, porque por todas estas cosas se han contaminado las naciones que voy a echar de delante de ustedes(U). 25 Porque esta tierra se ha corrompido, por tanto, he castigado su iniquidad(V) sobre ella, y la tierra ha vomitado a sus moradores(W). 26 Pero en cuanto a ustedes, guardarán Mis estatutos y Mis leyes y no harán ninguna de estas abominaciones, ni el nativo ni el extranjero que reside entre ustedes 27 (porque los hombres de esta tierra que fueron antes de ustedes han hecho todas estas abominaciones, y la tierra se ha contaminado), 28 no sea que la tierra los vomite por haberla contaminado, como vomitó a la nación que estuvo antes de ustedes. 29 Porque todo el que haga cualquiera de estas abominaciones, aquellas personas que las hagan, serán exterminadas de entre su pueblo. 30 Por tanto, ustedes guardarán Mi ordenanza(X), no practicando ninguna de las costumbres abominables que se practicaron antes de ustedes, para que no se contaminen con ellas. Yo soy el Señor su Dios(Y)”».
