15 “Then Aaron must ·kill [slaughter] the goat of the ·sin [or purification; 4:3] offering for the people and bring its blood into the room ·behind [inside] the curtain. He must do with the goat’s blood as he did with the bull’s blood, sprinkling it on the ·lid [mercy seat; atonement cover] and in front of the ·lid [mercy seat; atonement cover]. 16 Because the ·people [L sons; children] of Israel have been unclean [C in a ritual sense], Aaron will ·perform the acts to make the Most Holy Place ready for service to the Lord [L make atonement for the sanctuary]. Then it will be clean from the sins and crimes of the ·Israelites [L sons/T children of Israel]. He must also do this for the Meeting Tent, because it stays in the middle of unclean people. 17 When Aaron makes ·the Most Holy Place ready for service to the Lord [L atonement for the sanctuary], no one is allowed in the Meeting Tent until he comes out. So Aaron will ·perform the acts to remove sins from [make atonement for] himself, his family, and all the ·people [assembly; crowd] of Israel, so they will belong to the Lord.

15 “He shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people(A) and take its blood behind the curtain(B) and do with it as he did with the bull’s blood: He shall sprinkle(C) it on the atonement cover and in front of it. 16 In this way he will make atonement(D) for the Most Holy Place(E) because of the uncleanness and rebellion of the Israelites, whatever their sins have been. He is to do the same for the tent of meeting,(F) which is among them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17 No one is to be in the tent of meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place until he comes out, having made atonement for himself, his household and the whole community of Israel.
