⁴⁵ “As for the leper who has the infection, his clothes shall be torn, and ^(A)the hair of his head shall be ^[a]uncovered, and he shall ^(B)cover his mustache and cry, ‘^(C)Unclean! Unclean!’ ⁴⁶ He shall remain unclean all the days during which he has the infection; he is unclean. He shall live alone; his dwelling shall be ^(D)outside the camp.

² “Command the sons of Israel that they ^(A)send away from the camp every leper and everyone having a ^(B)discharge and everyone who is ^(C)unclean because of a dead person. ³ You shall send away both male and female; you shall send them outside the camp so that they will not defile their camp where I dwell ^(D)in their midst.” ⁴ The sons of Israel did so and sent them outside the camp; just as the Lord had spoken to Moses, thus the sons of Israel did.

¹⁰ But when the cloud had withdrawn from over the tent, behold, ^(A)Miriam was leprous, as ^(B)white as snow. As Aaron turned toward Miriam, behold, she was leprous. ¹¹ Then Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, I beg you, ^(C)do not account this sin to us, in which we have acted foolishly and in which we have sinned. ¹² Oh, do not let her be like one dead, whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes from his mother’s womb!” ¹³ Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, ^(D)heal her, I pray!” ¹⁴ But the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had but ^(E)spit in her face, would she not bear her shame for seven days? Let her be shut up for seven days ^(F)outside the camp, and afterward she may be received again.”
