²³ “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, ^(A)You shall eat no fat, of ox or sheep or goat.

¹⁶ And the priest shall burn them on the altar as a ^(A)food offering with a pleasing aroma. ^(B)All fat is the Lord's. ¹⁷ It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, in all your dwelling places, that you eat neither ^(C)fat nor ^(D)blood.”

^13 (A)Let us walk properly as in the daytime, ^(B)not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, ^(C)not in quarreling and jealousy.

¹³ For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you ^(A)put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

²⁹ Why then do you ^(A)scorn^[a] my sacrifices and my offerings that I commanded for my dwelling, and honor your sons above me by fattening yourselves on the choicest parts of every offering of my people Israel?’

¹⁵ Moreover, ^(A)before the fat was burned, the priest's servant would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give meat for the priest to roast, for he will not accept boiled meat from you but only raw.” ¹⁶ And if the man said to him, “Let them burn the fat first, and then take as much as you wish,” he would say, “No, you must give it now, and if not, I will take it by force.” ¹⁷ Thus the sin of the young men was very great ^(B)in the sight of the Lord, ^(C)for the men treated the offering of the Lord with contempt.

⁶ And the priest shall ^(A)throw the blood on the altar of the Lord at the entrance of the tent of meeting and burn the fat ^(B)for a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
