²² And so the priest, anointed from among Aaron’s descendants as a successor, shall prepare it; it is the Lord’s—a perpetual due—to be turned entirely into smoke.

²³ Furthermore, the former priests were many in number because they were prevented by death from continuing in office,

⁶ (The Israelites journeyed from Beeroth-bene-jaakan^[a] to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried; his son Eleazar succeeded him as priest.^(A)

²¹ And after the entrails and the legs were washed with water, Moses turned into smoke the rest of the ram on the altar; it was a burnt offering for a pleasing odor, an offering by fire^[a] to the Lord, as the Lord had commanded Moses.^(A)

³ “If it is the anointed priest who sins, thus bringing guilt on the people, he shall offer for the sin that he has committed a bull of the herd as a purification offering to the Lord.^(A)

²² “You shall also take the fat of the ram, the fatty tail, the fat that covers the entrails, the appendage of the liver, the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and the right thigh (for it is a ram of ordination), ²³ and one loaf of bread, one cake of bread made with oil, and one wafer, out of the basket of unleavened bread that is before the Lord,^{(A) 24} and you shall place all these on the palms of Aaron and on the palms of his sons and raise them as an elevation offering before the Lord.^{(B) 25} Then you shall take them from their hands and turn them into smoke on the altar on top of the burnt offering for a pleasing odor before the Lord. It is an offering by fire^[a] to the Lord.^(C)
