⁷ “But ^(A)if he cannot afford a lamb, then he shall bring to the Lord as his compensation for the sin that he has committed two ^(B)turtledoves or two pigeons,^[a] one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.

⁸ And if she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take ^(A)two turtledoves or two pigeons,^{[a] (B)}one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. ^(C)And the priest shall make atonement for her, and she shall be clean.”

Persecution Will Come

^16 (A)“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be ^(B)wise as serpents and ^(C)innocent as doves.

²¹ “But ^(A)if he is poor and cannot afford so much, then he shall take one male lamb for a guilt offering ^(B)to be waved, to make atonement for him, and a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and a log of oil; ^22 (C)also two turtledoves or two pigeons, whichever he can afford. The one shall be a sin offering and the other a burnt offering.

⁸ When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in ^(A)sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), ⁹ then he added, ^(B)“Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. ¹⁰ And by that will ^(C)we have been sanctified through the offering of ^(D)the body of Jesus Christ ^(E)once for all.

¹² For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable ^(A)according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.

¹⁶ And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, ^(A)the heavens were opened to him,^[a] and he ^(B)saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him;

³¹ one^[a] for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering, along with a grain offering. ^(A)And the priest shall make atonement before the Lord for him who is being cleansed.

⁸ He shall bring them to the priest, who shall offer first the one for the sin offering. He shall ^(A)wring its head from its neck ^(B)but shall not sever it completely, ⁹ and he shall sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, while ^(C)the rest of the blood shall be drained out ^(D)at the base of the altar; it is a sin offering.
