² “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When you enter the land that I am giving you, the land shall observe a Sabbath for the Lord.^(A)

²¹ to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had made up for its Sabbaths. All the days that it lay desolate it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.^(A)

³⁴ “Then the land shall enjoy^[a] its Sabbath years as long as it lies desolate, while you are in the land of your enemies; then the land shall rest and enjoy^[b] its Sabbath years.^{(A) 35} As long as it lies desolate, it shall have the rest it did not have on your Sabbaths when you were living on it.

Sabbatical Year and Sabbath

¹⁰ “Six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield,^(A)

⁸ it will sweep on into Judah as a flood and, pouring over, will reach up to the neck, and its outspread wings will fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.^(A)

Entrance into the Temple

Of David. A Psalm.

⁴ The Lord said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.”^(A)

⁴⁹ “Ascend this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab across from Jericho, and view the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites for a possession;^(A)

³² It shall be to you a Sabbath of complete rest, and you shall humble yourselves;^[a] on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening you shall keep your Sabbath.”
