⁴⁰ And ^(A)you shall take for yourselves on the first day the ^[a]fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; ^(B)and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days.

A Multitude from the Great Tribulation

⁹ After these things I looked, and behold, ^(A)a great multitude which no one could number, ^(B)of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, ^(C)clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

^4 (A)Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

¹⁴ And ^(A)you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant and the Levite, the stranger and the fatherless and the widow, who are within your ^[a]gates. ^15 (B)Seven days you shall keep a sacred feast to the Lord your God in the place which the Lord chooses, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you surely rejoice.

¹¹ And not only that, but we also ^(A)rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

²² Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and ^(A)your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

¹³ took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:

¹⁴ And they found written in the Law, which the Lord had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in ^(A)booths^[a] during the feast of the seventh month, ¹⁵ and ^(B)that they should announce and proclaim in all their cities and ^(C)in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the mountain, and ^(D)bring olive branches, branches of oil trees, myrtle branches, palm branches, and branches of leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.”

¹⁶ Then the people went out and brought them and made themselves booths, each one on the ^(E)roof of his house, or in their courtyards or the courts of the house of God, and in the open square of the ^(F)Water Gate ^(G)and in the open square of the Gate of Ephraim. ¹⁷ So the whole assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made ^[b]booths and sat under the booths; for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun until that day the children of Israel had not done so. And there was very ^(H)great gladness.
