³⁸ These offerings^(A) are in addition to those for the Lord’s Sabbaths^(B) and^[a] in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings^(C) you give to the Lord.)

³⁹ “‘In addition to what you vow^(A) and your freewill offerings,^(B) offer these to the Lord at your appointed festivals:^(C) your burnt offerings,^(D) grain offerings, drink offerings and fellowship offerings.^(E)’”

⁶⁸ When they arrived at the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families^(A) gave freewill offerings toward the rebuilding of the house of God on its site. ⁶⁹ According to their ability they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics^[a] of gold, 5,000 minas^[b] of silver and 100 priestly garments.

⁷ Josiah provided for all the lay people who were there a total of thirty thousand lambs and goats for the Passover offerings,^(A) and also three thousand cattle—all from the king’s own possessions.^(B)

⁸ His officials also contributed^(C) voluntarily to the people and the priests and Levites. Hilkiah,^(D) Zechariah and Jehiel, the officials in charge of God’s temple, gave the priests twenty-six hundred Passover offerings and three hundred cattle.

³ Besides, in my devotion to the temple of my God I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the temple of my God, over and above everything I have provided^(A) for this holy temple: ⁴ three thousand talents^[a] of gold (gold of Ophir)^(B) and seven thousand talents^[b] of refined silver,^(C) for the overlaying of the walls of the buildings, ⁵ for the gold work and the silver work, and for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now, who is willing to consecrate themselves to the Lord today?”

⁶ Then the leaders of families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and the officials^(D) in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.^{(E) 7} They^(F) gave toward the work on the temple of God five thousand talents^[c] and ten thousand darics^[d] of gold, ten thousand talents^[e] of silver, eighteen thousand talents^[f] of bronze and a hundred thousand talents^[g] of iron. ⁸ Anyone who had precious stones^(G) gave them to the treasury of the temple of the Lord in the custody of Jehiel the Gershonite.^(H)

⁶ there bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes^(A) and special gifts, what you have vowed^(B) to give and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.^(C)

The Sabbath

³ “‘There are six days when you may work,^(A) but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest,^(B) a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work;^(C) wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord.

³ “‘Each of you must respect your mother and father,^(A) and you must observe my Sabbaths.^(B) I am the Lord your God.^(C)
