²⁶ You must be holy because I, the Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own.

¹⁵ But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. ¹⁶ For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”^[a]

⁷ So set yourselves apart to be holy, for I am the Lord your God.

²⁴ But I have promised you, ‘You will possess their land because I will give it to you as your possession—a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from all other people.

² “Give the following instructions to the entire community of Israel. You must be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.

¹⁴ He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

¹⁸ The Lord has declared today that you are his people, his own special treasure, just as he promised, and that you must obey all his commands. ¹⁹ And if you do, he will set you high above all the other nations he has made. Then you will receive praise, honor, and renown. You will be a nation that is holy to the Lord your God, just as he promised.”

⁶ For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.

³ They were calling out to each other,

² You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.
