¹² If a man lies with his ^(A)daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death. They have committed perversion. Their blood shall be upon them.

¹⁵ You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law—she is your son’s wife—you shall not uncover her nakedness.

²³ Nor shall you mate with any ^(A)animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion.

¹⁸ Then he said, “What pledge shall I give you?”

So she said, ^(A)“Your signet and cord, and your staff that is in your hand.” Then he gave them to her, and went in to her, and she conceived by him.

^23 (A)‘Cursed is the one who lies with his mother-in-law.’

“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’

¹⁶ Then he turned to her by the way, and said, “Please let me come in to you”; for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law.

So she said, “What will you give me, that you may come in to me?”
