^14 (A)You shall not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall ^(B)fear your God: I am the Lord.

^18 (A)“‘Cursed be anyone who misleads a blind man on the road.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

^32 (A)“You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall ^(B)fear your God: I am the Lord.

^17 (A)Honor everyone. ^(B)Love the brotherhood. ^(C)Fear God. Honor the emperor.

Do Not Cause Another to Stumble

^13 (A)Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide ^(B)never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.

^17 (A)You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God, for I am the Lord your God.

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of ^(A)Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might ^(B)eat food sacrificed to idols and ^(C)practice sexual immorality.

^8 (A)Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. ⁹ But take care ^(B)that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block ^(C)to the weak. ¹⁰ For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating^[a] in an idol's temple, will he not be encouraged,^[b] if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols? ¹¹ And so by your knowledge this weak person is ^(D)destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. ¹² Thus, sinning against your brothers^[c] and ^(E)wounding their conscience when it is weak, ^(F)you sin against Christ. ¹³ Therefore, ^(G)if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

¹⁵ The former governors who were before me laid heavy burdens on the people and took from them for their daily ration^[a] forty shekels^[b] of silver. Even their servants lorded it over the people. But I did not do so, ^(A)because of the fear of God.
