¹² And you shall not ^(A)swear by My name falsely, ^(B)nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.

²¹ And you shall not let any of your descendants ^(A)pass through ^(B)the fire to ^(C)Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.

¹² But above all, my brethren, ^(A)do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into ^[a]judgment.

³ or if he ^(A)has found what was lost and lies concerning it, and ^(B)swears falsely—in any one of these things that a man may do in which he sins:

Jesus Forbids Oaths

³³ “Again you have heard that ^(A)it was said to those of ^[a]old, ^(B)‘You shall not swear falsely, but ^(C)shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ ³⁴ But I say to you, ^(D)do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is ^(E)God’s throne;

¹⁵ “Then you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Whoever curses his God ^(A)shall ^[a]bear his sin. ¹⁶ And whoever ^(B)blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall certainly stone him, the stranger as well as him who is born in the land. When he blasphemes the name of the Lord, he shall be put to death.

¹¹ And the Israelite woman’s son ^(A)blasphemed the name of the Lord and ^(B)cursed; and so they ^(C)brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.)
